Right. Decent men don't hang around on women's boards lecturing, scolding and being gross to and about women. That seems to be the main sort we get here.

A huge percentage of women on these boards do precisely this.

Do you have an issue with people doing this? Or only men?

The13thFairy · 06/09/2025 10:21

I can see no way that a man's comments can 'undermine' women's issues - what a quaint idea. It's only words on a page. No bloke is shouting you down, speaking over you, interrupting you, mansplaining; behaviours that are unfortunately rife irl. They often write in a recognisably male way, so you don't have to pay them any heed if you don't want to.

Such an unintelligent goading reply in order to try and get someone to shut up, simply because you don’t like what they are saying.

The observation is that you think all men have the same way of looking at things.

Yet you keep bringing it back to experience time and time again.

I’ll have to take that as either a) you can’t read b) you can’t answer.

Probably both.

ThatBlackCat · 06/09/2025 07:28

Yep, it does. I've said that myself on here yet was shut down. They out themselves with their language. They genuinely don't realise that we know from their language. Males are such a different sex that they truly don't know what it is that we know and they don't.

This is such a crock

People are always being accused of being male on here and it usually because they aren't "toeing the line" of what is deemed the "right" female response

LimbOnTheBranchBranchOnTheTreeTheTreeInTheBog · 05/09/2025 16:45

Yanbu, it annoys me too. "As a man...." as if it has more authority.

Or they see a thread about women's issues and either NAMALT or say they suffer X issue too and derail.

They won't start their own space because they feel entitled to the labour of women and can't be arsed putting in the effort.

They are allowed on here though so not a lot to be done.

As much as it’s true that anyone can post here, I tend to agree with the above.

Although maybe paradoxically, I hate it when a man posts genuinely looking for advice and gets a pile on just because he’s a man, even when he’s being entirely reasonable - that makes me embarrassed at being a woman sometimes.

But overall, the slightly smug “man here” comments wind me up. If my DH was posting on a board named “mumsnet” it would be a major ick for me - him thinking women need his opinion on anything. Hell I don’t even need it and I’m his wife 🤣

Nah. There are two sexes, and they have different concerns and ways of looking at things. Women of ALL races, cultures, ethnicities have the SAME concerns worldwide. Women of ALL races, cultures, ethnicities are welcome on sites built by women, for women.

Different concerns, yes. Claiming any one group has a homogenous ‘way of looking at things’ – no.

Replace that with any other group or demographic and ask yourself how that sounds.

DoinFineIThink · 06/09/2025 08:39

Oh, this post again. Makes an appearance every now and again, been a while!
It's a site for PARENTS. You know, both mums and dads. Seeing as men look after their kids as well, they can need parenting support too.
Even the strap line says it's for parents. "By parents, for parents" At least it did last time I looked.

Thanks for that irrelevant comment, attempting to pretend not to understand that women everywhere have specific observable real and factual issues directly related to their sex.

Men cannot ever understand what women experience by being born female, regardless of any race, culture, ethnicity, religion or country.

Again, women of ALL races, ethnicities, countries, cultures and religions are welcome in women's spaces.

There are two sexes. In every single race, culture, religion and country women have things in common with other women which they can absolutely never have in common with men and which men can never, ever understand.

But you already know this.

You attempted incorrectly to conflate sex with "any other demographic". I corrected you. Have the good grace to stop babbling nonsense.

Ooft, who pissed in your Weetabix? 🤣🤣

I'm not conflating anything, that wasn't even my comment you responded to, I'm simply saying a lot of the content of Mumsnet is more relevant dads than it will be to a lot of women around the world, who have much more pressing issues than half the tripe discussed on here. Just an opinion, which I'm free to share, as is Mike from Croydon if he so chooses.

But evidently you have zero sense of humour and can't stand not to get the last word in, so I'll humbly step down and let you have it - have a good day, you're welcome 😘 xx

Can't stand it tbh. 'man here....: oh fuck off.

Men who start threads are always saints who do 100% of the parenting and chores and their wives are always selfish. Yawn.

Worse are women who say 'I've just showed DH this thread and he thinks.....'

Couldn't give a fuck mate.

They’re ‘saints’ at the start of their threads, but the mask usually slips when they realise women see right through them.

I’m fed up of a certain type of man on mumsnet. The type that hangs around the sex board and comments on any relationship post involving sex. I’m also sick of the men that post pretending to be women. And the men that are pompous pricks.

No issue with normal, decent men on here, but I’m not sure how many of them there are.

Not sure women in war torn Ukraine are worrying about whether their sons will get into Eton 🤔

Dads in Kensington might be.

I must have missed the 'women only' caveat when I signed up. I might have reconsidered joining if I had.

I'm completely ok with the 'as a man' posts, as it can be a) useful to hear things from that side and b) good to know that's what is happening. I don't think I've ever seen one that's been written from a 'therefore my opinion is more important' standpoint, but I wouldn't be surprised if they exist - but I'm also sure that they get short shrift in that instance.

Ah nothing like some man hating.

honestly get a grip love. Men are wonderful, I have a grandfather, father, husband and son and all of their opinions are valid and welcome on all topics the internet is no different. It sounds like you need to develop the skill of ignoring opinions you don’t like and moving on with your life.

*small psa the men in my life are great I know some men are complete sh I t heads.

Yeah because defending womens rights and spaces automatically = "man hating". 🙄It can't be that we have a valid reason for not wanting men here. Oh no! Those nasty wimmin picking on the men!

yeah.

thebabayaga2025 · 06/09/2025 07:22

Eh? Nobody said they CAN"T post on mumsnet and that has nothing - absolutely literally nothing at all to do - with feminism or voting. What a bizarre non sequitur.

What women are saying is they wish that men would just fuck off from this one site. Men "get" to do whatever they want most of the time, everywhere, and it would be great if they would simply fuck off from this one site.

Calm down, it's not that serious, it was a joke 🤣

Goldplatedhinges · 06/09/2025 07:34

I don’t think men should be on Mumsnet. I particularly dislike the white knight who declare they are men and therefore are the voice of reason. What kind of men do we think hang out and opine on MN?
