The clue is in this which was written by MNHQ...

"We hope Mumsnet isn't exclusive to mums and indeed we know we have a number of dads who log on and contribute. If it doesn't sound too pompous we think the concept of “mumming/mothering” goes beyond gender so don't feel Mumsnet is too exclusive. We did think of calling the site parentsnet.com but it just sounded so hideous."

And as for 'inserting themselves where they're not wanted', you should probably read the whole thread as many of us are fine with parents wanting to use a parenting website.

Bumblebee72 · 05/09/2025 17:21

It's a parenting forum. The more men who step up to parenting the better and it should be normalised. We didn't all chose to marry useless men, and I'm sure there are groups of posters we would all get rid of. I'd get rid of the champagne socialists but we have to accept there are lots of different people in the world.

Rickyrainfrogcroaks · 05/09/2025 17:02

So why is it called Mumsnet then
It's for mums
If it was for dads to it would be called parent net

I think it probably should be called parentsnet but then again theres people that aren't even parents here so peoplesnet could be more appropriate but suppose that doesn't have the same ring to it. It's called Mumsnet but it also says "by parents for parents" the term parent is for both male and female parents therefore for both mum's and dad's.

I actually think sometimes it's helpful for men to post in here to get women's perspectives. I like to think we really help some men understand how their wives/GF may be feeling and how to handle certain situations well.

The only time I don't like men on MN are the assholes who deliberately wind us up with their utter shite.

Whenever I read an obvious troll being obvious and saying "Man here", I assume it's a female troll who knows exactly how to wind everyone up.

One can never tell of course but I base it on the fact MN is mostly still populated by women.

Yep, I agree with you OP.

TinyTempest · 05/09/2025 17:16

25 years married to my husband and we love the bones of each other.

I have absolutely no problem with men turning to a parenting website for parenting advice.

A twat is going to be a twat and a troll is going to be a troll, regardless of whatever they have between their legs 🤷‍♂️

ok "mr " wonderful....does your partner agree with your sentiment ?

I shall ask him when I get home shortly. Seriously though, why not use your anger to motivate you out of your current situation?

I get it's not so easy to just leave an abuser, but there is help out there. Unless you are literally a captive you don't need permission to leave.

Men are welcome here the same as anybody. I very much doubt your (hopefully soon to be) ex frequents the halls though, so try and stop misdirecting your hate.

I suggest you post on Relationships if you actually want advice and help to leave. If you just want to complain and start a fight, you’re in the right place.

LittleMi55Nobody · 05/09/2025 17:12

Ncforthis2244 · 05/09/2025 17:09

Maybe use your words to say bye bye to this terrible person you're choosing to live with?

Plenty of us have chosen excellent men who support and cherish us 🤷‍♂️

Tagline is by parents for parents. Last i checked, men can be parents too.

Btw - and you may want to sit down for this - there are loads of posters who aren't even parents at all!!!

Dontlletmedownbruce · 05/09/2025 17:11

Either it's open for everyone or it's exclusively for Mums as the name suggests. As it is, it's open for everyone so that includes men.

I really don't get your issues, it seems very bigoted to me to only want to discuss your life with a certain type of person. Do you feel the same about talking to people of different classes or race or is your bigotry just sex related?

If it's bullies and arrogant people you have an issue with you'll find plenty of women on here fitting that description.

Of course other women don’t have each other’s back! Is this your first time on AIBU?! Women can be utterly vile to each other - I’m surprised you haven’t seen it.

I have no problem with men using MN, how would you know if they didn’t say anyway?

There is dadsnet. But not enough of them use, so it's easier for them to come here. Sums up dads really...

Rickyrainfrogcroaks · 05/09/2025 17:03

I don't see why men are on here ,I don't want their opinion,I'm sick of men ,
This should be a women only space
