ladies..just wondering..are you fed up of men posting on mumsnet..why don't they start their own "dadsnet/mansnet" group..im getting fed up of obvious "male" comments undermining our woman issues....quite honestly id like them to fuck off cos im not interested in their opinons on womanship

Doesn't bother me unless they start behaving like arseholes, which sadly some do. There was one mansplaining on a thread the other day who resorted to personal attacks when I challenged him on his mansplaining. Obviously there are nuisance posters and trolls of both sexes on MN, but somehow it's particularly galling when it's a bloke (for a lot of topics, anyway). (Although I probably shouldn't admit that in case that poster sees this thread, as I suspect his sole purpose on MN is to have fun annoying people. 🙄)

Hoppinggreen · 05/09/2025 18:09

Everyone is welcome but it does annoy me when they start by announcing their sex
Nobody cares mate

I like men's input here. It can also get a bit catty in here and the men provide some balance when it gets like that

Misogynist post 🙄

Didimum · 05/09/2025 18:06

No issue with men posting here at all. I don’t think they have to announce they are a man (unless it’s relevant), they should just jump in.

PrincessofWells · 05/09/2025 18:06

CinnamonBuns67 · 05/09/2025 16:45

Yabu. Men are just as much as entitled to a say just as much as you. Even if you don't agree with them.

Then they can bugger off to Dadsnet can't they . . .

Notmyreality · 05/09/2025 18:04

Figgiepud · 05/09/2025 17:35

Then It shouldn't be called mumsnet.

Ok so if we change the name that will solve everyone’s problem will it?

Yeah because men are all sunshine and light aren't they?

🤣 the cattiest work environment I ever had the misfortune to be in was full of men

Digdongdoo · 05/09/2025 17:59

youalright · 05/09/2025 17:56

Exactly this everytime i stand up for men on here the first thing I get told is your a man aren't you. No but I have sons and decent men in my life and don't think all men are awful like certain women on here do.

I have a nice husband and sons too. But they are imperfect people (as are we all) in a man's world. It does nobody any good to pretend otherwise. There's a difference between "all men are awful" and "why can't men let us have something for ourselves".
Really decent men would want you to undo that social conditioning that makes you leap to their defense. It's a man's world, they'll be fine.

Notmyreality · 05/09/2025 17:59

LimbOnTheBranchBranchOnTheTreeTheTreeInTheBog · 05/09/2025 16:45

Yanbu, it annoys me too. "As a man...." as if it has more authority.

Or they see a thread about women's issues and either NAMALT or say they suffer X issue too and derail.

They won't start their own space because they feel entitled to the labour of women and can't be arsed putting in the effort.

They are allowed on here though so not a lot to be done.

I’m sorry but they don’t say “As a man…” for any other reason than to confirm the subsequent post is from the male perspective and is required as MN is majority female.
There’s no other nefarious reason and you are reading too much in to it.

But that's all in your head isn't it?

Because you, me, MNHQ and absolutely everyone on this thread have no clue what sex anyone here is.

And as a PP pointed out, some of the posters who say they're women are absolutely vile at times.

Twice a week every week someone starts a thread about how mean and horrible they think most MNetters are.

So genitalia is irrelevant.

The reason I know is because they always announce the fact they're male, as if it's some kind of achievement lol.

TinyTempest · 05/09/2025 17:56

roseclouds · 05/09/2025 17:52

well I havent ever seen a woman do this, only men so far. I wonder why that is.....

And let's be real, half the people who get accused of being men on here are women

I had women on here telling me I was lying because I haven't experienced sexual abuse and sexual harassment, or witnessed that all men HATE me, or that I must be a man 🙄

Trolls trying to shut people down because they have different experience is not gender related frankly.

I don't get the impression that the most bitter and violent posters on these subjects are male, I might be wrong 😂

Then those posts should be reported. There is one particular male poster on here that is notorious for challenging women on stuff like this and being generally extremely misogynistic. He's very open about the fact he is male.

SmurfnoffIce · 05/09/2025 17:55

ThejoyofNC · 05/09/2025 16:48

What on earth is "womanship"?

It’s like a mothership. Child-free women had to build it because mums kept complaining they shouldn’t be allowed aboard the MOTHERship.

BluePearOntheRocks · 05/09/2025 17:53

TinyTempest · 05/09/2025 17:51

I think any man that does this should be removed from the site.

Surely any poster who does this should be removed from the site?

I dont care that they're here in general but they need to STFU when it comes to women discussing issues they're experiencing that are pertinent to being female.

I've literally had a man come on here and deny my experiences of men being creepy and lecherous. Firstly, WTF? he wasnt there, I was, and secondly- how dare he tell women what they have or havent experienced.

I have seen men do this a few times to others - try to shut women down and deny the experiences they've had with men and it repulses me. I think any man that does this should be removed from the site.

YANBU and it annoys me too.
We have a women’s network at work and there are several blokes who have joined that - to me it just feels invasive of them to do so.

We discuss deeply personal issues around feminine health, menopause, domestic abuse etc… and having men in that space just makes me not want to share my true experiences.

on an anonymous forum especially, none of these issues are "female" only - different when it's work colleagues, for privacy reason.

feminine health, menopause,
My GP and my gynecologist are male, so I bloody hope they know what they're talking about!

domestic abuse
is not a female-only issue, and supportive staff dealing with these issues are not female-only either

Why wouldn't men be on this forum? Makes no sense.

TinyTempest · 05/09/2025 17:48

Dontlletmedownbruce · 05/09/2025 17:42

I agree @TinyTempest I always presume posters like that are racist too.

Yes they're invariably racist IME but spouting their hatred of other races/religions would get them banned.

So they have to stick to sexist bigotry whilst posting here.

BluePearOntheRocks · 05/09/2025 17:45

TheWorminLabyrinth · 05/09/2025 17:28

It is entirely justified though. Men hate women. If they could be sexually attracted to each other, and exploit the labour of each other, then they wouldn't form relationships with women. Lucky they have you defending them though Hmm

(Absolutely no need for the NAMALT/Not My Nigel brigade to tell me how wrong I am).

Men hate women, do they now? Half the population HATES the other half?

Some women hate men, that's clear on this thread and sometimes on this forum, hating someone just because they have a penis, how bizarre. 😂

Peakypolly · 05/09/2025 17:44

Why would men want to go into female spaces … I, for one, am pleased to say I haven't found parenting to be a female only space.
I welcome *Idontjetwashthefucker *
also, although non-parents are not referred to in the initial aims of Mumsnet (Parentsnet) as I remember it.
