Should teenagers stand to being criminalized over how some of them treat their partners.

I ask this because the very vast majority of incidents of abuse are served out by their partners, and the very vast majority of partners are either teenagers too, or within five years.

They pose the question and I provide an answer, and answer to that question addressed to everyone. The answer is provided by me immediately underneath the question. If I am to believe that there exists any confusion, and voting has already been successfully completed, I would first have to be told of what it is there exists confusion.. Then my next post will deal with the questions that arise from that confusion.
The community have voted on the question of whether teenagers should be criminalized in relation to how some of them conduct their relationships, so we are talking under age sex, exertion of pressure for under age sex, come sex with a child, and obviously, boyfriend girlfriend forced intimacy, or rape. The consensus was, it was very close, that teenagers should be left to get away with it - By this time the parents would have failed, but it was effectively decided that a short sharp shock should not be a last port of call option.
My position is that whether a girl`s partner is inside or outside of the five years, i in the UK the police turn a bling eye if inside,, being used is very unpleasant, and that unwanted pregnancy is a huge issue no matter years of disparity. Suicide has been a final consequence in the past even over "merely" having been used by a fellow teenager. It can be all the same to the victim!.
NB Under age sex is wrong for highly substantial reason..

Look, OP, this is how quoting works. That way, posters know who and what you’re responding to, rather than you rambling away, totally incoherently, to yourself.

This is a very confusing thread.

You do realise that we have no idea who you are responding to, don’t you?
You aren’t quoting anyone or tagging their names in your replies.

I have to cover that ground of your questions, and as they arise. Full understanding comes with your reading every one of my contributions. Neither would a book make complete sense if you were constantly expecting to make sense of the entire story from single paragraphs. Rather than complain, simply do the same, ask me specific questions. However, I am not prepared to keep going back over old ground. Neither will I necessarily be able to answer everything. In my opinion I have already covered sufficient ground.

OP posts:
celebritydiscodave · 06/09/2025 18:05

The reason you are unclear as to everything which I am communicating is because I have to deal with specific questions as they arise. In addition to which, I simply cannot be bothered to keep repeating everything, why should I even feel so obliged??? It is for the reader to read everything, not for me to keep going back over old ground.

Do you count girlfriend rape and under age sex as being crimes?

OP posts:
celebritydiscodave · 06/09/2025 03:39

Well, they get away with illegally having under age sex, highly unadvisable, because they are teenagers, and sure thing, there exists very little regulation of their relationships. The stats for boyfriends forcing their so called girlfriend might well be considered alarming. I should imagine that some girls only have a boyfriend out of peer pressure, so because it is the done thing.

OP posts:
celebritydiscodave · 06/09/2025 00:32

Totally agree, but having already dragged them through some abusive and totally unregulated relationships, which is so often the case for many young mums, even at five years it can already be too late.

OP posts:
celebritydiscodave · 06/09/2025 00:28

I have supplied stats here already

OP posts:
celebritydiscodave · 06/09/2025 00:23

Totally agree, a sharp shock like that might well by such an advanced age as this remain his absolutely only hope. My understanding of it is that the police currently would likely do little, or nothing, not even if you were being forced.

I met my abusive ex both age 16. He should be locked up.

I disagree that abusing ones boyfriend, come girlfriend, is a part of learning how to treat folk, no more than animal abuse is a part of learning how to treat animals. Those with a psychopathic tendency tend to beginning in animal abuse, and those with a psychopathic tendency will treat their partners the worst. Caring for animals, and normal healthy respectful relationships, this is the normal healthy responsive state. This making an allowance for teenagers on account of them supposedly being just children is one enormous mistake.. Once in ones teens it is already likely too late! Folk want to believe that only older people abuse teenagers, thus the press obliges in kind, but it is far more often members of their own peer group. This is why teenage girls tend so much to blaming themselves, and sure thing, if teenager on teenager abuse is not adequately dealt with they will likely be much more vulnerable to an older persons approach. Blaming oneself is not the territory of discussing the abuse with ones parents, it is not even the territory of recognizing it as being abuse. Schools might be covering much of this ground now, but are parents, and then finally, in my view, it requires the support of the police. In the UK at least, the police currently, and at best, simply notify the parents, but if they had more able parents they might likely not be suffering the abuse..
I previously supplied some stats on this. Until such time as parents come to terms with this boyfriend girlfriend abuse stats will be quite difficult to recover.

View "VISION POLICY BRIEFINGS", or simply, speak with young people. Most of this abuse apparently likely occurs outside of the home, and the sixteen to nineteen year olds are suffering more than any other age range. Under sixteens are apparently almost totally off radar. What adults refer to as being abusive they apparently tend to refer to as being merely toxic. I have a young friend, now twenty five, almost all of her relationships to date have been abusive, and they have all been with guys within five years of her age. It is only six months or more after a relationship has ended that I have recovered from her what was the full extent of the abuse. I believe that this abuse is considered almost the norm by a very significant percentage of very young individuals...

You are not making a lot of sense

No, wrong, under age sex is illegal, but many teenagers are having it with other teenagers regularly.. It is wrong for very substantial reason, but the police tend to overlooking such goings on between teenagers within five years of age disparity. I have recovered some statistics on abuse.

OP, the police have sensibly accepted that they will never prevent teenagers from doing what their hormones are screaming at them to do. They accept that criminalising teenagers for having sex is not in the public interest. They do not have the time, resource or desire to spend their time arresting horny teenagers. That is not their purpose.

Yes, ideally teens should wait until at least 16 before they have intercourse, and good attentive parents with time on their hands can probably achieve that.

But we don't live in an ideal world, and as long as a relationship is wholly consensual and between teens of a similar age, then letting it run its course, with suitable contraception, is the best option in many cases.

You will never change that.

I merely suggest that we accept this, and that we attempt to deal with this before they become adult. Once they have matured it is already too late. The problem is as much with individuals as it is with older people.

The very vast majority of abusers of teenagers are teenagers because the very vast majority of their relationships are with teenagers. Do you get it yet???Statistics on teens in abusive relationships indicate the following

Criminal justice applies to teenagers too.
More education and information is definitely required for DC to avoid domestic violence as adults, angry DC should have access to services early to help give them the tools to regulate their emotions.
MH services for DC are extremely poor.
