Just a moan really.

My husband is on holiday for 2 weeks so is laying about the house and complaining that he has no space from me because I work from home. He is very untidy and I find this difficult most of the time, but let it go mostly unless I’m hormonal and I get mad.

Im responsible for all aspects of our life from DIY (have to pay someone usually) to cooking and food shop. I do all the cleaning.

Ive told him I feel unloved and suffer from lack of affection. I’m lonely. I’ve told him this to and it’s water of ducks back.

hes going shopping today. I asked him to pick eye cream up for me and I’d transfer him the money. He just point blanked said no to be an idiot not because he isn’t going there. Just made me feel sad.

I feel sad I’m in a relationship with someone who cares little about me. I doubt he loves me: spends his time telling me to go away and be quiet. He said he jokes but I don’t take it like that.

No we don’t have children.

I don’t have money in the bank. It’s both our house. We have one cat who’d be coming with me.

he ended up getting me the cream and some chocolate.

I just wish all this winding up and things he thinks is funny would just stop.

im just exhausted at the moment and counting down until he goes back to work.

whoever said I don’t like him, I don’t when he’s acting like an idiot. But I do really love him.

Also get yourself some hydrocortisone for your eyes. It will help.

TheGreatWesternShrew · 02/09/2025 14:35

Sounds horrible. Leave him.

He sounds quite unpleasant. You don't have to stay married you know...

What she said with bells on

TwelvePercent · 02/09/2025 14:06

My DH is far from perfect (nor me) but if either of us went to the shop we would ask 'do you need anything?'.

If I had an uncomfortable skin condition he'd make a special detour to help me, not deliberately say no to be a twat.

If either of us were on leave while the other worked, we'd automatically take responsibility for the kids, any jobs that day and probably cooking dinner.

I think that's probably pretty normal & basic for 2 adults in a relationship.

I think you deserve a lot better & I'm pleased you're employed because that's the key to escaping him.

hmmnotreallysure · 02/09/2025 14:03

How long have you been together? Do you have children with him? Whose house is it?
You need to leave and find happiness op Flowers

dcsp · 02/09/2025 13:57

"ive got nowhere else to go otherwise I would."

In that case, prioritise either finding somewhere else to go, or getting him to go.

So think about things like:

  • What's your current housing situation? Owned (if so - by you / him / jointly), rented (by you / him / jointly - also when's the next date you can end the lease without penalty)
  • What's your current contribution to shared costs? Would these cover another place, or a room in a shared house/flat? If not, do you have enough spare money to make up the difference
  • Is your current place big enough for you to separate while still being under the same roof, as an interim step
  • You say you have nowhere else to go, but does he - could you ask him to go stay with friends/family/etc
  • Do you have enough money in the bank to go stay somewhere short term, even if a Travelodge or Airbnb, in the hope of shocking him in to changing? Presumably he wasn't always like this or you'd not be together in the first place, so maybe a shock will put him back to being a decent human being.

Whoever asked what eye cream it is - it would be classed as cosmetic but I have eczema on my eyelids and this is the only stuff that gets rid of it. I ran out about 5 days ago. Going myself tomorrow but day earlier would have eased my itching.

ive got nowhere else to go otherwise I would. He’s gone out now for the day

oh thats rubbish having itchy eyes and he wouldn't get you an eye cream while he was at the shop. I'm guessing this is just one of many similar things he's done.

dodobedo · 02/09/2025 12:00

Do you mean cosmetic eye cream or medicinal eye cream?

How is that relevant in the slightest?

Nanny0gg · 02/09/2025 13:33

Start looking for something you can afford - a room in a shared house would be better than with him

Do you own your own house?

FetchezLaVache · 02/09/2025 13:19

Please don't spend the rest of your one precious life with someone you don't even think loves you. Or even likes you much, by the sound of it. And whom you don't like much, either, if we're honest. And who expects you to take all the mental load. And do all the cleaning. Which he makes more of by being untidy. And won't do little acts of service for you in return for everything you do for him.

The "in front of God" in the post you're replying to doesn't change the overall meaning of the post, so I don't see the need to challenge it.

Exactly the point of the post was made without the need of the assumption or need of religion

Why are you with him? Do you want to waste your whole life on this person?
Leave him and live your own, better life.

Itiswhysofew · 02/09/2025 13:12

What was he like to begin with? I can't imagine you wanted to be with someone like that.

He's really taking you for granted and mean with it. You can have a better life away from a man who gives nothing.

SeaShellsSanctuary1 · 02/09/2025 13:11

TheSandgroper · 02/09/2025 12:05

He promised to love and cherish you. Are you getting any of either?

He did not stand up there in front of God, loved ones and friends, look into your eyes and say “I promise to be a prick to you and only to you”.

He lied to you.

Give it a rest they may both be atheisti for all you know

CoffeeBeansGalore · 02/09/2025 13:06

Tell him you need space from him whilst you are working.
He has 2 choices.

  1. Every day he gets up, cleans, tidies & cooks a meal for you every night.
  2. He disappears to parents/siblings/travel lodge for the rest of the time he's off.

Either choice gives you a break & stops him from annoying you. If it's more pleasant without him then that makes the decision for you to separate from the selfish, lazy, useless git.

TreeDudette · 02/09/2025 11:33

This ☝️.

Assuming there's not significantly more to this, it sounds like you should consider whether you'd be better off without him.

If that's a bigger step than you're ready for, maybe go stay with a friend or family member (or in a hotel or airbnb) for a week, and at the end of the week see if he's had enough of a realisation to be less of a walloper, and if you felt you were actually missing anything by not being with him for that week.

MyLimeZebra · 02/09/2025 12:31

YABU to downplay this as ‘just a moan’ - this is really sad OP - your partner doesn’t value you or care about you, I think you need to really reevaluate the relationship 💐

NongKhai · 02/09/2025 12:31

This sounds awful. My ex husband of 20 years cheated on me and walked out. It was really tough with 2 traumatised teens and a long drawn out divorce (took 3 years). But...I am so grateful he did what he did. I am so much happier on my own. My house is happy and peaceful and I don't have to put up with all the horrible shit he did. Your partner sounds beyond redemption
I'd divorce him if I were you.

dodobedo · 02/09/2025 12:00

Do you mean cosmetic eye cream or medicinal eye cream?

What does that matter??

A wife has asked her husband to get something from the shops as he is going to the shops and she is working!! It doesn't matter if its medicinal or not!!

dodobedo · 02/09/2025 12:13

HelpMeGetThrough · 02/09/2025 12:05

What difference does it make? If he can’t do that simple thing for his wife, the person he is meant to love, it’s a sad state.

Well it's just that it's a bit more serious if it's for medicinal purposes.

But either way he does sound like a prick.

OP, when was the last time he brought you a bunch of flowers or a plate of food in a restaurant?
