To have nicknames for my neighbours and ask what yours are for yours?

Apparently most people in the UK have nicknames for their neighbours that they use within their household.

Mine are -
Their names - J & M (next door)
Next door not J & M (I actually know their names but still call them this)
Barky dog people
Penguin people
Policeman's family
Old boy

What are yours, and perhaps more interestingly... what do you think your neighbours call you?

Moaner Lisa / Hyacinth (Bucket) because she watches out for you leaving the house, then pounces in with such gems as 'can I ask when you're going to cut your lawn/hedge, as it's been a long time since you last did it'? In reality our hedges get cut every 6 weeks and the lawns every fortnight (unless it's scorching hot and a drought). She thinks everyone should aspire to having a perfectly manicured garden like her's and if she badgers all the neighbours enough she'll get her wish 😄

ConstantlyFuriosa · 31/08/2025 14:07

The cunts next door.

IHaveRunOutOfIdeas · 31/08/2025 13:52

Anna
Whatsherface
Mary
Susan
Knob head Susan.
Her with the white car ( even though there are 3 white cars)
Gob
Piss head
Knobheads
The ones with the drive.
Dickheads who can’t drive

This sums up our street… names and car colours have been changed to protect identities 😂

We have new neighbours in a few of the houses since the last nickname thread!
Stabby Larry died and someone new moved in this year, we haven't seen who moved in but they had the police at the door 3 times in the first week so they're called Witness Protection atm.
Jack Torrance in the overlook hotel ( It's just a house) but he threatened his girlfriend and family with an axe a bit ago, he's not there very much thankfully.
Neighbours opposite - by their own names as they are lovely
Next door is the puppy farm, she has 4 of her own dogs and sits another 3 that we know of, her name is is shut up & get out /get in.There is so much barking and one of them has bad separation anxiety and goes nuts and when left and again when she comes back, she is nice and friendly though.
Round the back we builders bum, 4 cars between two of them on the car park always tinkering & hammering & lying underneath on one of them even on Christmas ruddy day - we have had words.
New man moved in next door to them recently poor bugger, not sure what his name is yet , quiet & keeps to himself so far.

I think I probably get called the old banshee on the corner, quite fitting really but I don't take any nonsense 😆

Isa is kind of pronounced Eye-sah but with a peculiarly Scottish first sound somewhere between Eye and Aye.
Sorry if I haven't described it very well

Just watch Still Game 😃

Flannelfeet · 31/08/2025 11:37

BebbanburgIsMine · 30/08/2025 23:57

Not where I live now, but at my last house we had an Isa.

If you’re Scottish you’ll get it

She was insanely nosy and gossiped about everything.

Then there are two families just known as The Neighbours - very very noisy and get together a lot. If we say The Neighbours we all know who we mean.

Natsku · 31/08/2025 11:16

I feel a bit bad now, don't have any nicknames for my neighbours except the ones opposite who are called 'New Grandma' and 'New Grandpa' because that's what DS started calling them after he adopted them as extra grandparents.

Two homes ago, when I lived in a block of flats, the neighbours below us were called 'the noisy people', which is what DD called them because they would frequently have 3am drug fuelled karaoke parties, waking us all up.

BruceAndNosh · 31/08/2025 11:12

I know the names of everyone on our (short) street apart from Kebab Man.
The people behind our immediate neighbours are usually The Party People apart from when they actually have a party when they then become The 2am Wankers

Nothingfallingdowntoday · 31/08/2025 11:10

New Norma (third partner, they all look the same as first wife named Norma)

The chuggers cbe. Charity (and don’t we all know it 😋) reference rather than drinking

Allmarbleslost · 31/08/2025 11:05
