To have nicknames for my neighbours and ask what yours are for yours?

Apparently most people in the UK have nicknames for their neighbours that they use within their household.

Mine are -
Their names - J & M (next door)
Next door not J & M (I actually know their names but still call them this)
Barky dog people
Penguin people
Policeman's family
Old boy

What are yours, and perhaps more interestingly... what do you think your neighbours call you?

Yep exactly that…I don’t get it either. I suppose I’ll take snobs as when we first moved in another neighbour thought we were drug dealers!

It’s worth noting that the neighbours who called us drug dealers are related to the ones who call us snobs…

🤣🤣🤣your estate sounds bloody complicated

Pryceosh1987 · 02/09/2025 00:53

I have interacted with most of my neighbours in the past. A hello here, a goodbye there...

Hufflemuff · 02/09/2025 00:52

Nosferatu - for our orthadontically challenged neighbour.

Don't feel too sorry for him, he parks his car across 2 spaces.

purpleflowersfordays · 02/09/2025 00:49

@Dayglobooapparently the reason they thought we were drug dealers is also down to us buying one of the biggest houses…one of 40!

I must admit I work from home and always have done so maybe they thought I had to have some way of getting an income…oh and we’re fairly antisocial so don’t have many visitors. I thought drug dealers had everyone at their door. I’m starting to think the neighbours have issues 🤣

Lol. I dont get it. So you bought one of forty houses of equal size on the.estate but you've been singled out as snobs ???

We’ve got
-Ye old man (older gentleman that lives on his own and speaks in very Shakespearean way)
-K (her name, she’s lovely) and Pisshead - they’ve got a young baby (lsss than a year old) and he’s always cracking open beers smoking fags post work (and 2pm onwards at weekends) getting drunk
-Plastic man and She Who Doesn’t Speak - he’s a carbon copy of every boring love island contestant and she’s a nurse who refuses to speak to near enough anyone.

We don’t know anybody else on the row of houses we live on.

I know most of my neighbours names so call them that however one of them is known as the Cupra Prick.

I believe one of our neighbours have been calling us snobs as we bought the biggest house on the estate (despite there being about 40 of our house types on the estate).

It’s all fun and games I suppose.

I said this already but I forgot one. My dad's name for people in the village.
Dirty Teeth
Long Hair
Limpy Carr

I dont think they were very politically correct back then.😂

SugarNyx · 01/09/2025 21:20

The Christian’s because they remind me of Ned Flanders family on one side. On the other Serial killer because the husband wears a weird hat that only a serial killer would wear and I saw him yell at his wife like she was a child - which is serial killer behaviour imo.

If you do manage a big tour definitely go to Ullapool, its stunning up there in the summer. Also Harris has the most beautiful beaches. 😃

Thank you..

Neanderphil is a brilliant nickname

VoltaireMittyDream · 01/09/2025 01:38

We’ve had:

Bandit (lovely Australian chap who sounds JUST like Bluey’s dad)

Go Kart Simon (kindly older fellow who’s constantly banging on about wanting to show our DC his grandson’s old go kart)

The Colonel (grouchy old man whose cat looks like he has a curly moustache and a monocle)

Daddy Daycare (world’s angriest stay at home dad, constantly shouting at his kids and calling them awful names)

String Bag Lady (who painstakingly conveys her Waitrose shopping indoors, item by item, in a tiny string bag, while traffic backs up behind the delivery truck)

Centrist Dad (wet looking awkward man in a flat cap who visibly panics any time we smile at him or say hello)

Brupil · 01/09/2025 01:04

Neanderphil- He is called Phil but just grunts and doesn’t make much conversation.

Osama- woman who complained to us because we left our wheely bin out for an extra day. So she became ‘bin lady’ which somehow turned into ‘osama bin lady’ which then just turned into ‘Osama’ which has stuck and I can’t remember what her actual name is.

Futurept · 01/09/2025 01:01

We have DJ Fuckwit next door because he's always blasting bass at random times of the day and night

GingersOwner26 · 01/09/2025 00:55

No idea what we get called, but where we used to live (20-odd years ago), a group of teenagers used to call my husband Jonathan Creek to his face. He'd often be out walking the dog at the same time that these kids were walking to the bus stop. Sometimes they used to sing the theme tune to him. He doesn't really look like Alan Davies, and is younger and better looking. At the time, they had fairly similar hair, and Jonathan Creek was pretty popular.
