On holiday and they’ve taken the key and won’t answer their phone

On holiday with a family member. We don’t always see eye to eye, but I thought this trip might be a chance for a bit of a reset.

Today we decided to do different things.

Normally I’ve had the apartment key when we’ve gone out together, but I asked them to pop it in the key safe this time. For whatever reason, they didn’t — and with their phone switched off I can’t get hold of them.

I’m making the best of it with a quiet day to myself, but I can’t help feeling a bit upset. It’s left me feeling quite stuck, literally and figuratively. I can’t leave the apartment! I’d never want to make someone else feel like that.

Any advice on how to handle the rest of the trip without letting this sour everything?

IF you thought that your sister was going to stay in why did you need to take the key? Also why didn't you just ask hervwhat her plans were before you left?

They’ve said it was “safer” for them to take the keys so they would have the option to return to the apartment. Whereas as I obviously don’t have that option…

Sorry, why would you go on holiday with someone like this?

Tomorrow I would do the same. But thats why I dont holiday with people I "dont always see eye to eye" with.

This is passive-aggressive game-playing and would make the OP as bad as the person who has walked off with the key and switched off their phone. Go home or find a hotel or an alternative if you wish, OP, but behave like a responsible adult and leave a note saying that you've left and won't be back.

Or, as it seems the door is self-locking, just gather some stuff that you might need for a day out and go out for the day yourself.

Me is cleaner. Mr Owner tight and no pay for second key. He say I go round and give mine. I ignore message as he too tight to pay me last time I do this. I take bottle windowlene as pay. Now I stay home and admire my clean windows.

Are you a complete idiot? Just leave the key with her. If she’s popping out locally she can message you or leave the key in the safe herself? This can’t be real.
