He's not putting fumes in people's lungs from his car and sees people doing illegal activities that kill others or make our premiums go up.

Forgive my ignorance but, if the traffic isn't moving, why does it matter if a driver sees you filtering?

The point is they don't see me filtering, as they are glued to their phone.

Mikkymik · 28/08/2025 21:27

Chompingatthebeat · 28/08/2025 21:25

I guess its ok to go through red lights as well if no-one is coming the other way

"OK" is a strong word. But yes, if a driver inched through a red light on an empty road say at 3am, with very clear views from all sides, I wouldn't class that as dangerous driving.

ConfusedSloth · 28/08/2025 21:27

XenoBitch · 28/08/2025 21:26

No, it is dangerous for someone in stationary traffic to be using their phone.
I used to be a biker. So a car driver stuck in traffic and looking at their phone, is not going to notice me (and cyclists) filtering down the middle past them... and they should be.

That man is absolutely idiot on a power trip in a high vis.

He did a good act once but stopping someone, it have him an egoboost and hes become a pest.

He goes out of his way, everyday to create trouble, wind people up then behave like a blameless victim. There is no reason whatsoever for him doing the things he does. It's purely to annoy others a create content online.

Except telling people to behave better isn’t something that requires a qualification, unlike plumbing. Just a dose of confidence and human decency. But of an odd comparison!

And pursuing motorists, which is what OP was talking about, does require training and qualifications.

The overwhelming majority of people he dobs in aren't actually doing anything dangerous. While they might technically be breaking the law, that's because the law is inflexible and doesn't adapt to every person in every single situation.

Take for example a long line of stationary traffic, with cars inching forward a few feet every couple of minutes. It's true that it's still illegal for a driver to use his mobile phone in that situation, but in actuality it wouldn't be endangering anyone.

Yet these are the drivers he goes after. Same with most other offences. He picks low hanging fruit, people who are going about their day, not being a public nuisance or danger.

And before the smug holier than thou fuckers reply, please tell me you've never ever driven 21 mph in a 20 mph zone.

No he's not. He's a shitty egomaniac who thrives on causing misery.

YouOKHun · 28/08/2025 21:25

I understand he feels strongly because his father was killed by someone driving dangerously (I think that’s right). I therefore understand his feelings as the same happened to me in my family. However, his understandable emotive response isn’t the best way to police dangerous driving, careless driving and errors and vigilantism has no place.

He needs to exorcise his demons in another way, for his own sanity and safety. The policing of driving needs to come from the police (which I know is a whole other conversation about resources etc). He isn’t a force for good or safer roads.

ImGoingUpstairsToTakeOffMyHat · 28/08/2025 21:25

TBH people being more offended about the fact that a man calls out dangerous drivers, than the dangerous driving itself, speaks volumes.

He totally threw his bike at the car, there’s a video taken by someone else which shows it a lot clearer. He shoved the bike infront of him as the car was approaching. He lost it and did it on purpose. Of course the motorist shouldn’t have been coming through a no entry sign but that’s no excuse for purposefully throwing your bike in front of a car.

ImGoingUpstairsToTakeOffMyHat · 28/08/2025 21:24

ConfusedSloth · 28/08/2025 21:17

Good for you? That's not relevant to what I said.

Nurses are trained and qualified to give vaccinations. I think that doing that is a good thing. It doesn't mean I should do it without training and qualifications to do it safely.

Plumbers are trained and qualified to plumb in gas cookers for families. I think that doing that is a good thing. It doesn't mean I should do it without training and qualifications to do it safely.

I never said this man was even being unsafe. I simply pointed out that OP's argument that an untrained, unqualified man pursuing a motorist is the same as police pursuing a motorist isn't a true comparison. I made no comment on this man in particular.

Except telling people to behave better isn’t something that requires a qualification, unlike plumbing. Just a dose of confidence and human decency. But of an odd comparison!

I'm not a driver and I don't have all the answers. I am certain though, that someone deliberately provoking others isn't going to help matters. Adding road rage to selfish behaviour isn't likely to end well.

I'm sorry about his father's death, but it still doesn't give him the right to do what he's doing. He would actually be more use as a traffic warden! At least then he would be able to wield some official power. He seems to be a man consumed with rage, at least it would provide an outlet for it.

I didn’t say you were a driver? But if you think oeople who use their phones while driving are just missing the virtues of a refresher course then you have more faith in humanity than I do

Do you not think that it’s provocative to drive dangerously and break the law? Or should we all just keep our heads down and let lives be risked for the sake of not appearing to be a busybody?

Just last week he lobbed his bike in front of a car for dramatic effect. It's infantile behaviour at best and dangerous at worst.

Operation Snap. The police want the public to send in footage of people breaking the law (driving whilst using phones included).

YanTanTetheraPetheraBumfitt · 28/08/2025 21:22

Maybe cycling mikey needs to pause and dabble in a little self reflection as to understand why he acts in the way he does. It sounds like he's doing more harm than good.

I think his dad was killed by a motorist while cycling which is probably why he does it. I still think he needs to wind his neck in and stop it and I say that as a cyclist. He gets weirdly excited and squeaky about it all. Him throwing his bike at the car the other week was way OTT.
