Just a chat to understand what’s going on with the influx of England and UJ flags all over the streets?

thoughts?
where did it stem from?
is it making you uncomfortable? (It is, me, but not entirely sure why)

Exactly. It's pathetic. It's only certain type of left wing (mostly white) British-born people who are crowing about 'the flags!' 🙄

It’s not the flags themselves, it’s the ideology behind it. The motive is driven by far-right agendas. I am 100% with every fibre against that agenda. Anyone saying it’s “just patriotic fun” is either disingenuous, naive, or a useful idiot.

BatchCookBabe · 30/08/2025 14:59

Cloanie · 30/08/2025 14:46

These people have deserted their country, deserted their friends and family. That’s how keen they are to reach the UK. I doubt they are phased by a few flags. Quaking at the sight of a sign of patriotism? Yeah, right.

Well your bestie needs to give their head a wobble. Its a fucking flag not a severed head.

😆 Agree!

@YanTanTetheraPetheraBumfitt is your 'bestie' normally so dramatic and ridiculous? Does she needs some smelling salts? Maybe a new set of pearls as hers are probably crushed from all the clutching?!

We need to open a shop that sells grips. There's quite a few people on this type of thread this week, (and many people they 'know') who need a few! 😎

The only people supporting this “campaign” are racists. Guess at least they’re shining a light on themselves.

Yes they are

Cloanie · 30/08/2025 14:46

HRTQueen · 30/08/2025 14:40

Maybe not

but they are not just been put up around hotels/hostels where newly arrived are staying

they are being put up along high streets and residential streets even in some parts of London

all done at night

shameful actions by racists

Hmmm, tells me everything I need to know about you 👍

YanTanTetheraPetheraBumfitt · 30/08/2025 14:42

If it’s about loving your country and being patriotic firstly why haven’t people done it before? Why wait until Tommy .robinson’s mate says to do it?

Hint, if a racist far right idiot says put flags up then it’s a racist far right movement

Secondly, why not use the Union flag, which is surely more associated with patriotism of this country? The Union flag is associated with the Royals, with Team GB, etc. why pick the flag with far right connotations?

SanityLeftTheChat · 30/08/2025 14:41

YanTanTetheraPetheraBumfitt · 30/08/2025 14:40

My bestie who was born in this country has literally just rung me up to tell me how uncomfortable the flags are making her feel. But of course the racists won’t care about that, guess they’ll be delighted.

If you are supposedly fleeing your home country in fear of your safety of life then I doubt seeing a flag would intimidate you.

Racists hiding behind being proud to be British are putting lags up on lampposts

utterly shameful it’s nothing to do with being proud it done to intimidate

Have you ever wondered if your laughter is based off your thoughts being a tad astray? If your partner is upset that the loo is dirty do you roll about laughing and tell them There were no loos at all two hundred years ago, chortle chortle?

Relevance is a thing that is worth considering. Giggle giggle.

I have no idea what you’re on about, maybe articulate yourself better? I’m guessing you weren’t taught English or History at school? 😁😁

MyFoodBillHasGoneUpAgain · 30/08/2025 13:45

Oh I am angry at the goverment.

I have no problem with non british people coming here through LEGAL channels, working hard and integrating. Paying tax etc that benefits the country. Learning trades that benefit the country.

I am talking about these piss takers who are posting themselves on the internet gloating.

Meanwhile the police are arresting the UK citizens who are voicing objections.

And the police are covering up the crimes committed by these hotel residents. Complain to the police about them inappropriately behaving around children and they just get a free taxi back to their hotel in time for dinner.

Cloanie · 30/08/2025 14:24

MyGreyStork · 30/08/2025 13:57

But immigration laws are a fairly new thing considering our ancestors first came here over 900,000 years ago. The first legal laws were in 1905. You’re an immigrant yourself! Did your ancestors fill out paper work and get given legal access? 😆😆😆😆

A couple people have said it’s nice for people to display their national flag.. what if other people whose motherlands are not UK were displaying theirs, would that be ok?
playing devils advocate that’s all

I believe this was actually the reason for the rise in British/English flags. Birmingham council wanted to remove the British/English ones but feared removing Palestinian ones without protection.

(For what it’s worth I don’t care who flies a flag and what’s on that specific flag!)

SeptaUnellasBell · 30/08/2025 14:14

Well, if the idiots that are upset, offended and uncomfortable by a flag (which is entirely reasonable to have flying in the country it belongs to) would shut up banging on about it or get a grip then the minority that are flying them as a ‘point’ would get bored. But due to likes of people like Matt Haig who hasn’t lived in the real world since he was born, getting into a flap about it, the (again) minority would stop painting flags on roundabouts because they wouldn’t be getting the bite they wanted.

Well if you hear it then it must be true 😮

Don't believe everything Uncle Nigel tells you

The IMF bailout was in last weekends Telegraph.

The country is about to enter what they call 'the doom loop' and there is real concern the IMF will have to bail the UK out. In which case they will set conditions one of which will likely be to rejoin the EU. They will also set our spending budgets and so expect NHS/benefits etc to be slashed even more than they are currently.

The Autumn budget is going to be critical.

I believe they are given basic phones and a small phone / WiFi package.

That's because everything they need to do in order to follow the correct channels, seek asylum and remain in the country are computer or phone based, rather than paper forms etc. How are they supposed to complete those obligations without a phone?

I'm sure they all have far more pressing matters to attend to than posting on Mumsnet.

BallerinaRadio · 30/08/2025 13:59

Cloanie · 30/08/2025 13:52

As I understand it, anyone who thinks that immigration is currently an issue that requires attention is a thick as pigshit gammon.

And it seems the best people who are very intelligent regularly call other human beings thick as pigshit gammon.

This seems correct, doesnt it.

Excellent summation.

Actually no, not anyone that thinks immigration is an issue, just the simpletons putting flags on lampposts.

MyGreyStork · 30/08/2025 13:57

MyFoodBillHasGoneUpAgain · 30/08/2025 13:49

nobody objects to someone applying and being given legal access according to our laws.

That's not what I am talking about and you know it.
