Do you find your DH attractive?

I’ve been with DH for 9 years but recently a situation happened where I was around a very attractive man (all innocent) but for the first time in many years I actually thought wow he’s attractive.

I actually felt quite guilty about it. I told DH and we both laughed about it as this man was literally created by god himself (he was Italian and Cuban) so you can only imagine.

It made me realise that I have never felt that about my DH? I don’t look at him and think oh my god I want to rip you clothes off. DH is quite short dad body and is balding quite quickly. It’s made me wonder if this is why our sex life has been affected as I’m not actually attracted to him. I love him to pieces but not attracted to him.

Im not perfect myself I’ve had 3 kids but made the effort to loose the weight and I still make an effort like I did pre kids.

Its left me feeling a bit confused in all honesty and I hope no one judges me from this post. Do you all find your husband/partners attractive?

No, but that’s because he’s a bully.

Sorry to hear that, i hope you're planning on leaving him. Don't stay attached to someone who bullies you

YankSplaining · 28/08/2025 16:07

I think my husband is gorgeous and sexy, and is getting more so as he gets older. He could stand to lose some weight, but so could I, and really muscular guys turn me off because they don’t look cuddly.

Thindog · 28/08/2025 16:07

A new pair of shoes is always going to look shiny and attractive,

I've been with my DH for 15 years. I am very attracted to him because he's an amazing partner, lover and father. But I don't look at him and think 'you are the most physically beautiful man in the world', he isn't a 'looker' in that sense? I'm sure he feels the same about me!
I have had many occasions of meeting someone or seeing someone and thinking they're extremely attractive. Doesn't mean I'm going to ditch my husband and pursue it! Don't feel guilty about it at all. Just a passing thought and life resumes.

Brilliant post

MyDogHumpsThings · 28/08/2025 16:05

I do. After over 20 years I still look at him and think wow, I get to be with him!

BeMintViper · 28/08/2025 16:05

I find him very attractive, we have been together over 14 years.
I've never looked at him and thought 'wow' though as some pp have.
He's not a Greek God, he's short and stocky and averagely handsome. There's just something about him though, we have amazing chemistry, sexual and otherwise. I have seen many men who are objectively more handsome but I don't fancy them like I do my DH. Attraction is a strange beast I suppose.

TotalMaelstrom · 28/08/2025 16:04

Yes, and we’ve been together since 1992. He’s doing middle age well.

Sunshineismyfavourite · 28/08/2025 16:02

Someone upthread mentioned chemistry - and I do think that's what it is that keeps the attraction in a long term relationship. I'm thankful my DH still fancies me as I've now got one boob (thanks breast cancer) and have had other surgeries that mean my body has lots of scarring and my hair is thinning. I am definitely not as attractive as I used to be but there's not much I can do about it!

DH has aged well, he's now mid 60s and I still find him attractive though if it were a random photo of him then I don't think I would say he was attractive or my type necessarily but we forget how we all age (well those fortunate enough to) whilst still feeling the same inside.

WifeOfAGemini · 28/08/2025 16:02

I do actually! Always have done. He is nearly 50 so his body is not perfect any more (he was really fit when he was younger; so was I!) but I still fancy him. I absolutely love overhearing him on his work Teams calls when he’s doing his “powerful director” voice. Gets me every time 😆

BuicksACentury · 28/08/2025 16:02

Yes, always.

My exes were always skinny, scruffy.long haired grungy types, and whilst I've always been attracted to that look, the reality was that my 2 serious exes didn't take enough care of themselves and I quickly get fed up with the unwashed hair and only owning 2 or 3 changes of clothes (as well as the general laziness and lack of drive!).

DH wasn't my usual type at all and we were friends before we got together, but I gradually noticed he had lovely eyes and smile, a good body and was well dressed and groomed (but not too much - I couldn't be doing with a man who fake tans and waxes and all that stuff!), which I came to find a very attractive combination. He's now in his 50's. He still keeps fit and takes care of himself and if anything has become more handsome with age.

JugglingMuggle · 28/08/2025 16:01

My ex husband: I worry now that I never really found him properly attractive. He’s not my type at all and although there was sexual attraction at first it wore off - particularly after having children and him becoming a very difficult man and terrible co-parent. I am now in a second relationship and still find my partner intensely attractive. He’s an older man now and our sex life is great because of how much we are attracted to each other.

I think if you don’t find your husband attractive, it’s possibly not a relationship that can survive into old age. It’s a horrible thing to admit, but being just friends isn’t quite right.

KmcK87 · 28/08/2025 16:01

I do, I’ve always felt like I was “punching” with him. I’ve never found anyone more attractive than my husband since we met.

Thenamesmom · 28/08/2025 13:34

I guess I was really attracted to his kindness and how family oriented he was. I was a young single mum when I met him. I loved his beard and he was much slimmer! He was a hard worker too. But now he’s a bit lazy and moody he’s a complete different person. It wasn’t so much the attraction really it was everything.

Do you feel like you settled rather than got the main prize? Not saying this is the case- just your post doesn’t read like you ever burned with passion for him. I still remember meeting DH and a single touch would send me into a quiver and I couldn’t keep my hands off him.

Been with my husband 11yrs, known him 30yrs and I'm crazy attracted to him....but it is normal to think other people are attractive too, it's interesting reading comments as if mn had wrote the same comments about their wives as have been wrote about husbands there'd be uproar....and ones who have kids it makes you wonder what will happen to the relationships once the kids are grown up

OutdoorQueen · 28/08/2025 16:00

I find my hubby more attractive now than when we first met 30 years ago when I was 13. We have been together since!
I fancied him instantly then & he still gives me fanny flutters when I look at him now!

Not just physically but as a man he is the most caring, wonderful, hardworking person ever! He has given me & our 3 DC the best life!

He is utterly selfless, makes me laugh every single day and as cringe as all this is I’m grateful for him every single day!

We have grown up together, faced massive challenges together (I was pregnant at 13) but he has always done the best he can for us!

GroovyChick87 · 28/08/2025 15:59

Yes, I really fancy my DH. I reckon even more so now than when we first met years ago. To be honest, other than my celeb crush, I don't really look at anyone else or find many people attractive anymore.

EvilNextDoor · 28/08/2025 15:59

We have been together for nearly 20 years.

I find my DH more attractive now than I did all those years ago, he’s aged well. Yes he has put on a bit of weight but not massively. He's got that silver fox look about him now…and when he puts his glasses on I kind of swoon.

We've certainly been through the mill over the past 24 months and I guess I appreciate him more now as well.

Cabotine · 28/08/2025 15:57

Yep I have found him attractive and I still do ! With an added bonus : he has a big knob 😂. I used to go to the gym all the time at the time I have met my husband but now between work and family it’s harder.

I absolutely find my DH attractive. I do look at him and go phroa! (Sp?) 😂. Not every single second of the day but yes, to me he’s good looking

but he’s also an amazing person. He’s so generous and he’s so kind and I find that more attractive!

Poppins21 · 28/08/2025 15:55

Yes I find my husband attractive we have been together 17 years and I still check him out. His beautiful blue eyes and dark hair his sexy laugh - all the reasons I fell so hard still make me swoon now

LaDamaDeElche · 28/08/2025 15:55

Yes, but he’s Spanish and is very attractive luckily 😂 I was married before and one of the reasons the marriage didn’t last was that I didn’t find him attractive, it was more like being married to a really good friend and although I loved him and we were very compatible in many ways, there was always something missing.

FlowerUser · 28/08/2025 15:54

My DH is fat, bald, grey, has a weak chin now covered by a beard and harrrumphs like an old man - well he is in his early 60s. He has lost five stone since we met, but he’s still very fat.

And my god, he is sex on legs.

Objectively, he has a very attractive face, but he’s obese. And I adore him. We met platonically so I got to know him for a few years before we got together, and he is kind, generous, can’t do enough for me, finds me gorgeous, is very intelligent and makes me laugh.

I get more and more attracted to him every day.

TinyHousemouse · 28/08/2025 15:52

Yes. After 15 years I still look at him and think “wow” 🙂

mummybear35 · 28/08/2025 15:51

You’re married not dead 😆 you’re allowed to find other people attractive and even fancy someone else, just frowned upon to act upon it! You think husbands don’t look at attractive women and admire?? My husband was strikingly handsome, body builder physique with a highly intelligent brain of a maths professor…fancied the pants off him but we also had an amazing relationship, he was the perfect father, friend, husband. I couldn’t be with a man I didn’t find attractive but that’s obviously not all there is to it. Relationships built on lust rarely lasts, there has to be more to it than that..

Meandmyguy · 28/08/2025 15:50

My boyfriend is the most beautiful man on the planet and I fancy the arse off him and him me.
