To think that Brooklyn Beckham

Is one spoilt entitled brat who has broken his parents hearts, not that I am a great fan of the Beckhams, at least they have worked all their lives and would not betray their parents!

I think this is why they should be protected, and their parents should surely know this more than anyone, as they live that life. The Beckhams did nothing to protect their kids, brought them up with the expectation that they would just be handed everything on a plate because they were 'Brand Beckham' afforded them no privacy and have now been surprised when they have 4 kids who seemingly don't know what they want to do or have any aptitude for. Instead of paying for Brooklyn to go to art school to learn photography or paying for him to go to culinary school to learn how to cook they have paid for him to print a book of his crappy photos. He has then thrown it all back in their faces because they have not equipped him with any life skills at all and he's made himself a global laughing stock.

Edited

I mean he can take himself to culinary school.

He can now buy very good top of the range digital cameras and take classes in photography by some of the world's best, and travel to the most scenic and atmospheric places on earth.

He's not relegated to a Skill Share, MasterClass, or Craftsy subscription like so many other people are is he?

It's the lack of self directed inquisitiveness that is keeping him back now. If money cannot at least be used for your intellectual and emotional betterment of what use is it?

He can blame his parents for exposing him to the media as a child and possible casual educational neglect

But he's responsible for where he is now, and he has on the face of it a good marriage.

You have no idea what’s happened. Just because the Beckhams put on a public front of being a happy and close family, we cannot know for sure that it’s genuine and not just an act.

It’s not at all unusual for someone to realise their own family is toxic once they get to know a more normal family.

Not sure her family is “normal”

not all Gordon Ramseys children have stayed out of the limelight, Tilly?

It feels like this has been entirely (?) their choice, perhaps that’s the difference?

I don't know anything about his personality but I blame his parents for thrusting him into the limelight
They can't just accept their kids are just ordinary they have to make out they are talented in some way
It's like they might express in an interest in something and the next thing you know it's reported thst they are next big thing in Photography, cooking etc
Rather thsn just allowing them to develop any talents they might have
Like with Brooklyns short Photography career instead of letting him quietly get on with it he had an exhibition and released a book of his " photographs "
Maybe he would never have made it anyway but it just made a laughing stock of him.

How did he get to Parsons? There’s been a lot of controversy about American College admissions so presumably he had the right qualifications?

HarrietBond · 28/08/2025 12:29

Given that all the Beckham boys appeared to be guided (at least, pushed at worst) into careers that will only work if you have talent, I feel very sorry for them. For all the nepobaby unhappiness and the undeniable leg up it gives, it's almost impossible to succeed in sports/arts/creativity if you don't also have the basic ability. Most of us wouldn't be able to make our names in any of these areas! And they are failing in full sight.

x2boys · 28/08/2025 12:26

Oh and apparently Cruz is working with song writer ,s he's apparently trying to launch a music career so watch this space.....

I have always thought D&V are just a couple of plonkers. (They have irritated me from day one!) Yes, he was talented at football, but I don't think he is intelligent. Yes she was lucky enough to be the one picked to be part of a pop group, luck pure luck because she ain't got a voice.

Now she has a propped up fashion business.

But in all of this, what idiots to expose their children so relentlessly for so long. They reap what they sow. Why did they do it? Just for money I s'pose.

Someone said the other two sons have careers that have worked...one in football and one modelling. Is that correct?

It depends whst you mean by a successful career in football,Romeo played for inter Miami ,a team part owned by David Beckham and didn't exactly set the football world on fire he was then loaned to Brentford B team for six months and was a substitute for most of that time
He's now trying to be a model

GreenFlag · 28/08/2025 12:21

The problem is he married up. She looks down on his family. He should have married someone from Love Island who saw a 5 pages spread in OK Magazine as aspirational.

I feel sorry for rich kids who grow up in their parents spotlight.
We know nothing about any of them really apart from the PR in public, the papers and their socials. Some will be true and some will be made up and we don’t know who is behind either story.
Id like to think they use their wealth to those in need

He’s just a personality-free man with famous parents who for some reason has been snapped up by a nobody with a rich dad. All that money must be like a poisoned chalice to the pair of them. No direction. Just floundering in their billions. Soulless.

I think it’s unusual no child as yet for BB/NP.

HarrietBond · 28/08/2025 11:08

It is absolutely possible for kids of rich and famous people to lead anonymous and normal lives, benefiting from their parents' wealth often, but not in the limelight. Lots DO use private schooling to access higher education and good jobs. We can't name them because we don't know about them but for all it seems that we are surrounded by nepobabies, they are only a fraction of the number of children of the rich and famous that are out there. The third Osbourne child/the eldest Geldof girl just for example managed to stay away from the limelight even when their siblings didn't, and in many other families none of the kids become public figures. I am friends with someone whose father is very well known and he is an academic historian, perfectly happy to have a totally anonymous life.

The parents need to be behind this though and the Beckhams have sold their kids' privacy from the very start (despite also making comments about NOT doing so, protecting their kids, wanting them to have normal lives etc.). There are immensely famous people who have never even revealed their children's names/sexes and photos cannot be taken of minors unless the parents agree. Many celebrity parents over the years have taken great pride in having the money to open up life opportunities for their kids that they didn't have until they became famous or achieved fame through rare skill.

Brooklyn appears to be a bit lost, and I feel for him as his parents really haven't given him the scaffolding he needed. His siblings may end up in a similar place, and seeing Harper so exposed so young breaks my heart. The Beckham documentary was such a naked puff piece that has been remarkably successful in rehabilitating D&V's reputation (and probably finally got him that knighthood) and the Rest is Entertainment podcast linked to above makes the excellent point that the forthcoming mirroring one on Victoria - also produced by the Beckhams themselves - will struggle if it doesn't address the Brooklyn rift at all, but what can they say? They've boxed themselves into this corner by seeking the fame and money that comes with such a public profile but only ever wanting the coverage to be on their terms.

I'm of the generation that remembers them getting together at the height of the initial Heat/celebrity obsession and I think they've loved and loathed that ever since - it's been a bit of a gilded cage for them. David B has always struck me as quite an unpleasant person to be honest, and I know people who know people who have a very dim view of him, but at the same time I'm conscious that the Beckhams have just been a vague drumbeat throughout my adult life that I've mostly ignored (despite this lengthy post!) and when I look at their lives I feel vaguely sad at how much they are curated for social media.

This is old news to most people I’m sure but the stories I’ve been told involve him actively seeking out and attempting to love bomb women (young models usually) into an affair.

🤢

Indeed😦

Next think will be an expose as him being on the Epstein list.

None of the women I was told about were underage. Early twenties mainly and this was around 10 years ago. But I would be very surprised if these behaviours had changed at all.

Also to add - I have no idea if this is the actual reason behind the fallout. It’s purely my take on it.

I have it on very good authority that DB is an absolute cad and relentlessly pursues other women outside of the marriage. This is old news to most people I’m sure but the stories I’ve been told involve him actively seeking out and attempting to love bomb women (young models usually) into an affair.

My take on this family fallout is that his son has been either made aware of his fathers behaviour, or perhaps his wife has been the subject of it herself and he has chosen to cut ties as a result. These big family fallouts don’t usually happen without something hugely significant being behind it, especially when the family was seemingly so close.

I feel sorry for Brooklyn and the terrible press he’s been getting around this.

I agree with you and it’s very telling that Brooklyn goes to such an effort to show how much he loves his wife and that she is his priority. Probably very different from what he has seen with his own parents.

BettysRoasties · 28/08/2025 10:43

Let’s face it, it’s going to be down to his childhood. His always been put in the spotlight by his parents as have his siblings. They have all been forced to put on these displays of the perfect family.

But even by what we may know from the papers it’s far from the truth. The children were and are used by their parents to show how good they are, they are this great team and amazing parents. Expect they are not.

Like others have said Gordon’s children mostly live pretty normal run of the mil adult lives but he and his wife never pushed them into the spotlight light, they where not babies used to show how good and together their marriage was or it. Never used to cover up cheating scandals and we have all heard the GR rumours.

If the children had a normal not fake smile for the camera constant upbringing it could have been very different. Also with how successful or not the son is, let’s face it again. If Beckham hadn’t made his big break on football and V from the spice girls neither would of been very successful people both would of just been run of the mill people having normal jobs and perfectly normal middle of the road children.

I think the stable more traditional childhood thing is key difference between Olivers and Ramseys and Beckhams. First two probably had a very consistent sahm type set up. Yes in press but not nearly to same extent. I googled 2 eldest Oliver children as I recalled one was training as a nurse and eldest has an English degree from Leeds, second is training to be a nurse.

I’ve often wondered why children of people/families with this sort of money even want to be in the limelight. Is it because they’ve grown up with it, it’s normal and they have no other frame of reference?

I mean, it doesn’t matter one iota if none of the kids want to work, or have a career. A life spent learning, spending as long in university education as you wanted, travelling, reading, volunteering, gardening - anything! Absolutely anything you wanted to do. Sounds pretty good, no?

I'd flippin' love it!

But I remember learning at uni that IQ is actually one of the biggest drivers of personal success.

If you have an IQ towards the lower end of the mean, you're more likely to have little self-driven curiosity.

Now this is speculation, in truth I gave no idea what BB's IQ is, and I am talking about it purely in detached terms and not making a value judgement, but I do see him as sadly intellectually neglected.

He likely had potential that has not been fostered. Every child shows a leaning towards a particular thing and if you expose them to enough different stimuli, they will demonstrate aptitude for something. The challenge financially disadvantaged children have is their parents often cannot afford to expose them to many things or are time poor. By contrast, the Uber rich Beckhams could have pushed their kids more, ensured they all at least had what many with halfway decent means consider the basic provisions: proficient fluency in a second language, mastery in an instrument and decent A-levels or higher ed qualifications at the very least. I suspect they were pulled along to various different holiday destinations but not given culturally or educative rich experiences in those countries.

So if nothing else, he has an absolute right to be resentful about shortfalls in his early education that contribute to him suffering a loss of confidence and feeling adrift now (if indeed this even factors at all in his disgruntlement and I'm even anywhere on the mark)

That said he is loaded and young, with opportunities and networks to facilitate massive personal growth and healing. Many people suffering negative childhood experiences have no such means to aid recovery and are victimised again as adults by inequality, unable to afford the things (even decent long term therapy) and experiences that would greatly help them overcome their early disadvantage. So my sympathy is limited.
