To think that Brooklyn Beckham

Is one spoilt entitled brat who has broken his parents hearts, not that I am a great fan of the Beckhams, at least they have worked all their lives and would not betray their parents!

Why do you care? I am not interested in the lives of famous or wealthy people. Some newspapers and magazines print this tittle tattle in an effort to make more profit. We don’t even know if any of it is true.

And as always people say "you clicked on a thread, clearly about tittle tattle on lives of famous or wealthy people."

So, you are interested

I saw 15 mins or so of Princess Andre's programme the other day. I feel very sorry for her. This is what her parents have given her 'you are a commondity, monetise every area of your life'. That is not enough for anyone. Poor girl. She doesnt seem happy. It's very depressing. I feel sorry for Brooklyn too.

I do wonder what they think about their dad's younger kids being kept private ( presumably because the mum doesn't give permission) and what a contrast there will be between the siblings.

I would add to my post above that I think VB and DB have probably genuinely tried to be perfect parents; they both seem to have a strong maternal/paternal side.
Yes I don't think but they have genuinely gone out to make their kids miserable and useless. I think they thought that they would try and make their lives as ready as possible by giving them an easy way into a celeb career and enabling them as much as possible. I think in the way 'influencers' put their kids faces online all the time. They see the downsides but think they are maybe worth it because of the money/ freebies will make their DC's happier. Then the free playmobil castle they got when they were 2 doesn't really cut it when their toddler tantrum is all over the Internet 20 years later! Otoh Peter Andre's did has a really show based on I don't know what?! So it seems to have paid off for them!

I agree that I think the desire to be in the public eye - and have your children in it - is quite short-sighted and immature in many ways.

I suppose it is a balancing act in that keeping them below the radar can also create interest.

But whatever is the better course, I still feel sorry for Brooklyn. There are lots of people his age who haven't found their niche but they aren't all ridiculed as useless. To be honest many people never get their life perfectly on track but it simply goes unnoticed. Almost certainly some of the more vicious posts on here are probably typed by fingers belonging to those we could find plenty of fault with if only all was laid bare in the same way.

And we all get it a bit wrong.

But there were just pressures there to contend with that I think will have meant it was so much harder to bring them through a "normal" childhood. Remember all that Rebecca Loos stuff? Yes, lots of children cope with actual or alleged infidelity. But there aren't photographers waiting to snap so the public can assess every gesture and expression on your faces for the next 6 months. I still remember the photos of them arriving at that chalet in the wake of it and the photos of DB piggybacking VB inside. I remember feeling so sorry for her: it was either a genuinely intimate moment intruded upon, or a monumental effort on her part to kind of stage it. Most women wouldn't have felt like touching him at that moment ... whatever the truth or otherwise in it all. But those aren't normal family pressures.

Calliopespa · 28/08/2025 14:15

I just feel sorry for him.

I remember him as a baby being carried through a paparazzi mob and his little face looked distressed. And wasn't it him in the documentary ( I only half watched it while ironing because I couldn't find much else) who they had to calm down when driving through crowds in Spain?

I'm sure he'd have been better off at home sitting on an Argos beanbag watching Night Garden than being at whatever event he was being toted along to.

Yes, lots of people have had hard lives - even much, much harder. But compassion needn't be in short supply.

I can tell you if I'd been born into the media circus that is the Beckham's "private" life, I'd have traded places in a flash. I think all the children have come through it relatively unscathed when considered in context.

I suspect neither of his parents are especially easy-going.

Fizbosshoes · 28/08/2025 14:10

...how much is VB being astute or is it management.
A top level footballer and a world famous popstar would be an agent or managers dream. Are they astute or just taking advantage of (at that time - late 1990s) everyone wanting to tie in with them, and taking the opportunities offered? Magazines had obviously a lot more influence in those days and the whole wedding edition, Vera Wang dress etc. Did they sit down on thrones and work out what would sell more copies, or were they offered a designer dress, a 20 page spread etc

She's started the fashion brand, and the clothes havent been a success in terms of profit, but the make up has been a lot more so....coincidence or her business acumen?

Katie Price was (previously) often referred to as a clever and astute businesswoman. Obviously things have not worked out for her (understatement) ....but how much is it the celeb themselves calling the shots and making judgements, or just taking advantage of sponsorships/brand opportunities when they are offered....?

BUMCHEESE · 28/08/2025 06:17

This is a really good point.

It's very difficult for them to have a "normal" job.

I disagree with this - slightly more difficult, but not very.

Plenty of celebs have children with normal jobs - Jamie Olivers daughter is training as a nurse. OK so she shared some stuff previously about it which would not have raised even an eyebrow had she been 'Miss Normal from Brighton" but thats a blip not a disaster

Brooklyn does get more negativity than other similar age celebrity offspring. Presumably as his profile has been so high as a child as a part of brand Beckham.
Just thinking about Gallagher kids. Anais does photography and a bit of modelling but doesn’t get negative attention. She does have a degree though.

Well look at Stella McCartney, she undoubtedly had a leg up but she did go to St Martins college
I think that's the issue with the Beckham kids none of them have done any proper training or stuck at anything .

They pimped out their three sons to build brand Beckham.

David fell out with his Dad for a longtime when the children were small.

The Varsity Blues programme shone a light on corruption & a celeb jailed, so I think anyone ‘gaming the system’ would proceed with caution. BB maybe felt he didn’t genuinely belong? Hard to stick at it in that case.

He went to parsons in 2017 and the programme came out in 2019
None of us no if he had the correct qualifications
But his parents didn't help by paying for a book of his " photographs " to be published and an exhibition, before he had a chance to learn his trade and hone any talent he may of had

To be fair to Victoria, she is said to be a very astute businesswoman. That tracks as the Brand Beckham thing didn’t happen by accident.

Yes I think that's her talent
She wasent a great singer and im,not sure her designs are all her own work but she's very good at marketing brands and getting her face everywhere,
David waa an exceptional footballer in his day but would he still be as well known now if it wasent for his wife,
Or would he faded more into life of Understated luxury ,who knows?

Nobody knows what goes on in a family other than them.

Who knows what BB experienced.

My guess is that his parents did their best. They were worshipped and feted by the media in their twenties and how they behave now in a function of that. VB and DB are no longer ‘normal’ people.

I feel for BB. I bet he has low self-esteem and constant imposter syndrome. And never feels quite good enough. Imagine knowing the ‘world’ is laughing at you.

I would be heartbroken if this happened to my family. I have a very ordinary life and would not trade it for all the yachts or purple thrones in the world.

Does NP genuinely love him? I hope so for his sake.

Does he ?not saying it's true but his parents are very well known and wealthy its not beyinf the realms of possibilities that they could have made a considerable donation ,to "buy " his place
Bit even if he did have the qualifications he didn't make a go of it did he?

You have no idea what’s happened. Just because the Beckhams put on a public front of being a happy and close family, we cannot know for sure that it’s genuine and not just an act.

It’s not at all unusual for someone to realise their own family is toxic once they get to know a more normal family.

I hardly think he has gotten to know a more “normal “ family! 🤣

I have always thought D&V are just a couple of plonkers. (They have irritated me from day one!) Yes, he was talented at football, but I don't think he is intelligent. Yes she was lucky enough to be the one picked to be part of a pop group, luck pure luck because she ain't got a voice.

Now she has a propped up fashion business.

But in all of this, what idiots to expose their children so relentlessly for so long. They reap what they sow. Why did they do it? Just for money I s'pose.

Someone said the other two sons have careers that have worked...one in football and one modelling. Is that correct?

To be fair to Victoria, she is said to be a very astute businesswoman. That tracks as the Brand Beckham thing didn’t happen by accident.

He’s very dopey and gormless isn’t he? He appears to have zero talent in anything. Saying that - if they had categorised his “photography” book as comedy it would have been a best seller. His parents must be embarrassed by him

What was he supposed to do? He wasn’t ever going to get a job down the local chippy so what was his path? He was born and bred by celebrity (who could also be described as dopey and gormless if that’s how you want to play it) pushed into the limelight, and who knows what kind of career guidance he got from parents who have no idea how the real world works for the average young adult?

He is a young man trying to make his way in the world having been failed by his parents, being judged for every move. He’s tried to step away from his family and his parents are whining about it. Worse still, misogynistic media and commentators are blaming his wife, as is always the case in stories like these.

Nobody knows the details of this rift, but one thing is certain, no young person walks away from their family without good reason.

not all Gordon Ramseys children have stayed out of the limelight, Tilly?

She's still got a degree behind her. Psychology from the University of Nottingham. She also does a lot for mental health awareness I believe

The problem is he married up. She looks down on his family. He should have married someone from Love Island who saw a 5 pages spread in OK Magazine as aspirational.

True, his in laws make his folks look like impoverished losers!

Didn’t she decide to as an older teen or adult.

None of them were showcased as babies to the world to watch them grow up.
