I've been thinking about you all day.. I hope things are calm. X

Marylou62 · 27/08/2025 07:29

I kept thinking that she was there when I took my first breath and I so wanted to be there when she took her last. And I was lucky and privileged enough to have been able to. I'm crying for you now..x

Thank you . It’s now the early hours of the morning. She hasn’t had a good night, but I’m here and able to give her everything she asks for. Reading your words has given my strength and comfort .

Oh love.. I was exactly where you were in December..
My beloved Mum.
I vowed I wouldn't leave her till the end.
I'm sending hugs and strength to you. X

Waitingfordoggo · 27/08/2025 07:04

I've been where you've been. You're doing the most important thing in the world right now. Thinking of you both.

Waitingfordoggo · 26/08/2025 23:36

I have been where you are with both my mum and my dad. It is the hardest thing I ever had to do but also the most important. I look back on it as a great privilege. They were there when I came into the world and I was there when they went out. It’s incredibly tough, but in the future, the fact that you were there will bring you comfort. I hope it is a peaceful end for your dear mum. 💐

AlwaysGotAnOpinion · 26/08/2025 23:31

Sending you a big cuddle OP, horrible situation. My dad went from post-op to dead in 3 days and he was in a coma all that time. I talked to him and cried on him and I recorded my last words to him, when I wasn’t with him I wrote down all the memories that came into my head in a Sudoku book and that formed the basis of my personal eulogy for him. I hope your memories stay with you and that the end is peaceful for your Mum - you both sound lovely and I’m sorry this is happening 🩷 life becomes infinitely sadder after losing a parent but you will be okay xx

NameChange1412 · 26/08/2025 23:30

I’m sorry @tougholdbirdy Flowers

I had the privilege of being with my Dad when he went on his way last year; he was only 56 and fit as a fiddle, so it was an awful shock. I got three weeks with him in ITU, he was in a coma with a brain injury but I like to think he knew I was there. I had little spa nights for him where I would cut his hair, trim his beard the way he liked it and keep his nails tidy, anything I could think of to keep him looking like himself. I played him his favourite music and read to him, and just chatted away. I remember feeling the most ‘adult’ I’ve ever felt, whilst simultaneously feeling like a lost, scared child.

Is your Mum settled at the moment? I’m here holding your hand and keeping you in my thoughts ❤️

icantwaitforsummer · 26/08/2025 23:23

I did this with my mum. Being there with her is so lovely for her.

I took a photo of our hands holding and still remember those last few hours.

i hope it’s peaceful and I’m sending you strength for the next few months.

You won’t get over it you just get used to it. It’s been 11 years and I still have a little cry every few months.

calanaiscailleach · 26/08/2025 23:20

Holding your hand. Sending you love, strength and support.

reversegear · 26/08/2025 23:17

Big hugs, I wasn’t there for me dad and really hope I can be there for my mum. Your post is so lovely, and so special.

kippersmum · 26/08/2025 23:14

I'm here. My dad is in hospice but you are a bit ahead of me. I get it, I really do. Holding your hand OP

SuperTrooper1111 · 26/08/2025 23:13

Wishing her a peaceful passing and you lots of strength to deal with what’s ahead. Flowers

CherrieTomaties · 26/08/2025 23:12

I’m so sorry❤

Would you like to tell us about her?

TheMaidofOrleans · 26/08/2025 23:10

Holding your hand here op x
i bet she is proud of you too.
It was a privilege to be with my dear old dad when he died. He loved me and I loved him. He made it simple.

Hagnarok · 26/08/2025 23:10

My Mum passed away in July and I sat with her for her last few days in hospice. I’d promised her before that I wouldn’t leave her and I was glad for both of us that she knew from all her friends and family that visited her how loved she was. Her last night was spent with her favourite music and myself and brothers reliving our younger days and memories of her. My hope is that she felt comfort and peace and that at what was an awful time we helped her as she’d helped us. Wishing you both peace and light.

Myfridgeiscool · 26/08/2025 23:09

There’s so much love on this thread, sending you a big old hand hold OP.

It’s a privilege to get to say all the things you want to say, instil a sense of peace.
I was able to tell my mum that she’d taught me everything I needed to know and her work was done, it gave her great comfort.

Cherish your moments together.

AliTheMinx · 26/08/2025 23:04

Sending so much love. I have a very difficult relationship with my.mum, but am exceptionally close to my dad, so I recognise the love you describe. Cherish every moment safe in the knowledge that your lovely mum.knows how much she is loved xx

Lifestooshort6591 · 26/08/2025 23:03

Been there. Sending love. So good you are there to hold her hand. Talk to her about some nice memories. Xxxx

Laura95167 · 26/08/2025 23:01

It may not feel it but youre very lucky to have a mother worth cherishing and the privilege of being with her atm. I hope whatever time you have left continues to be peaceful and content. We're all holding your hand. X

cattykinns · 26/08/2025 22:42

I’m so sorry. I’ve been there and wish I’d had someone to hold my hand too. I’ll hold you hand, sending love and light to you x

Nagginthenag · 26/08/2025 22:39

She brought you into the world and you're helping her leave it. Your love for your mum shines through your post. Wishing you love and strength, and hoping your beloved mum's passing is peaceful, with her beloved daughter at her side.

Whatwouldnanado · 26/08/2025 22:28

Ah bless you both. Hand squeeze from me. Do you have music, something nice to read to her?

sandgrown · 26/08/2025 22:28

I have done this. It’s awful . If your mum is still aware ask her any questions you have needed answers to re family. I regret I didn’t do this . Just keep holding her hand and talking to her. Apparently hearing is the last sense to go . Thinking of you x
