I have a few. Can't say them out loud (except to DH).

MIL & FIL - multi millionaires. Spend loads of money on themselves, lavish holidays, sports cars, only the very best restaurants etc. Never ever do they give a penny to their adult children (and one is flat broke). This is despite them both having been given property and a thriving business by a parent themselves.

My Dad - Overbearing, alcoholic, violent outbursts etc, all through our childhood. He's now decrepit and I have to do so much for him. I resent it.

Brother - keeps saying he's broke, whilst living like a rockstar. Just spend £20k on a holiday, lives in a £600k house, drives top of the range car, but often claims poverty - stop lying!

And breathe......

Anyone else?

A girl I work with always milks sickness. Whatever the average time off is for a particular illness is for a normal person she will triple it.
She is currently on a phased return and shows no shame. I think it irks me so much as I work hard and am hardly off.
i cannot explain how’s angry if makes me. 😡

Mydahliasareshit · 26/08/2025 18:01

Ah, the relative who convened an emergency family meeting, as she was down to her last 100k of savings, whilst living in a five bedroom house.
She is mid nineties. And has pensions.

Mumofsoontobe3 · 26/08/2025 18:01

Mine is my DH. Claims he's cleaned the kitchen 'for you' .. I emptied the bin 'for you' .. I bathed the kids 'for you' .. ITS OUR HOUSE. ITS OUR CHILDREN. It's not for me!!!! Granted he does his fair share, works full time, he's a good hands on dad and partner but the 'for you' drives me absolutely insane.

MaggieBsBoat · 26/08/2025 17:59

My DH loving his nasty nasty parents. He’s literally save them from a burning building and prioritises them. So…

people who let people shit on them and give them time and space and energy and love when those people just abuse and shit on them. It’s exhausting.

I am a DV survivor so I know how it is, but it really really pisses me off irrationally

Yeah, that’s so annoying!! I really hate it when DSS says ‘math’ instead of maths. It massively grates. And ceram wrap rather than clingfilm. I love him to bits but it’s so jarring.

Edited

Saran wrap, but your point remains. :-)

People who ask questions on Facebook to things you can Google.

What time does sainburys shut, in the time they typed it they could have googled it.

People who post on Facebook again annon to ask things like what’s the best soft play. Why does that need to be annon. Crazy.

Corgi2023 · 26/08/2025 17:55

People who write cryptic Facebook posts wanting attention, but when you message them they either don't reply or say everything is fine.

nadine90 · 26/08/2025 17:54

One of my best friends sat me down last night and gave me a right old talking to about a recent life decision.
Unfortunately for me he’s completely right.
Bloody annoying to be called out by a man! But to his credit he did it so well and because he cares. My sticking my head in the sand now has to end so he’s created work for me with this revelation too. Annoying.

Bluevelvetsofa · 26/08/2025 17:48

A friend texted to suggest coffee on a particular day. I agreed to the day, but I’m still waiting to find out where and what time. I know I'll be the one doing the chasing.

People who claim they’re skint when in reality they have savings and £300 in their current account to last a week

Yes. This really pisses me off too. Read the room ffsake!

PaddlingSwan · 26/08/2025 17:46

People, who have no standards.

Ihateboris · 26/08/2025 17:45

My sister keeps getting filler in her lips. She thinks they look great, but they look awful. What's worse though, is I can’t always understand what she's saying as she's also had botox around her lips.

Theunamedcat · 26/08/2025 17:44

My ex who whines to everyone he "cant" see his own children and "doesn't know why" and people believe him despite knowing he lies about every little thing someone even said to him oh when did you move back to >home town his children were born and raised in and where the CONTINUE to live< he says a few months ago then goes on about his kids getting tons of sympathy no-one seems to have connected the dots

HE MOVED AWAY YEARS AGO HIS CHILDREN ARE TEENAGERS NOW AND CANT BE ARSED WITH HIM BECAUSE HE MOVED AWAY AND STOPPED SEEING THEM YEARS AGO

He also hasn't actually reached out to the children at all no text no WhatsApp no xbox DM no letter ds1 just passed his GCSE exams its been advertised everywhere results day any messages off dad? "Crickets"

Sidebeforeself · 26/08/2025 17:43

@Bluevelvetsofa @CoffeeCantata .Just recently I held out on one of my friend who always does this. I said “where are we going then?” And she said “ I was waiting for you to choose somewhere!” AAAgh!!!

Danikm151 · 26/08/2025 17:42

People who claim they’re skint when in reality they have savings and £300 in their current account to last a week

Bluevelvetsofa · 26/08/2025 17:41

@Sidebeforeself we have friends like that, so I make an executive decision, book something and then ‘oh, it’s not as good as it used to be’. So annoying.

BettysRoasties · 26/08/2025 17:40

People who claim poverty while having thousands in the bank. You’re not poor!!

People who let their noisy children ruin things for everyone else. Just deal with your child!!

Dh falling asleep in 10 second’s, fuck off.

People who can’t ever decide on something, what should we have for dinner? Oh I don’t know what do you want? To not have to pick for one fucking time!

Arseholes who buy lovely houses with lovely gardens and rip it all out. Turn wildlife filled gardens to concrete and Astroturf and build on every inch they can. Whole front gardens churned into drive ways that can hold 10 cars, you have two!! You could have left something nice and natural.

ohyesido · 26/08/2025 17:35

Can’t relate

CoffeeCantata · 26/08/2025 17:33

Sidebeforeself · 26/08/2025 17:19

None of my friends can make a decision! No one will say where they want to go, what they want to eat/ drink etc . “ I don’t mind” “ You choose” etc

That’s doubly annoying because they abdicate responsibility for the decision and might then feel free to blame and criticise if things turn out badly!

bumchic · 26/08/2025 17:29

DH falls asleep literally the minute he lies down and it’s infuriating. How can he just switch off like that?

Also I have irrational ugly jealousy of people who have grandparent childcare available to them. My DC have no GPs who can look after them and I am sad about it every time I see families who have.

WalkDontWalk · 26/08/2025 17:27

The meanings and usage of words change. I know that. I’ve been delighted by it all my life.
It’s what makes English such a vibrant, interesting language.

However….

Daughter: Where are my earrings? I’m so confused.

Me: No, you’re not. You’re puzzled. Or perplexed.

Daughter: What?

Me: Confusion implies too much information, insufficiently processed. Your problem is that you have too little information, and you know what information you’re short of. You’re not confused. You’re perplexed.

Daughter: Does it matter?

Me: Yes! For some reason, it really, really does.

Daughter: God - it’s not that deep.

Me: See? That one I can live with.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 26/08/2025 17:27

My chicken Kiev leaked all the buttery juice all over the foil and I'm absolutely distraught 😳.

NotSmallButFunSize · 26/08/2025 17:27

All my friends won't stop talking about perimenopause - every teeny tiny thing that happens to anyone must be a symptom.....

I am the same age but cannot be arsed to think about it - I think most of us are too young for it to actually be an issue, it's more just that we have busy lives and have hit 40!

I just glaze over the conversation but it's getting really boring

Danikm151 · 26/08/2025 17:27

Some of my friends don’t realise how long it takes us to get to things on the bus. Then will moan about having to drive 15 minutes.

Yes I know I could drive but I simply can’t afford a car. I get free bus travel through work and we live in a city with good transport links.
