I have a few. Can't say them out loud (except to DH).

MIL & FIL - multi millionaires. Spend loads of money on themselves, lavish holidays, sports cars, only the very best restaurants etc. Never ever do they give a penny to their adult children (and one is flat broke). This is despite them both having been given property and a thriving business by a parent themselves.

My Dad - Overbearing, alcoholic, violent outbursts etc, all through our childhood. He's now decrepit and I have to do so much for him. I resent it.

Brother - keeps saying he's broke, whilst living like a rockstar. Just spend £20k on a holiday, lives in a £600k house, drives top of the range car, but often claims poverty - stop lying!

And breathe......

Anyone else?

Mine is my DH. Claims he's cleaned the kitchen 'for you' .. I emptied the bin 'for you' .. I bathed the kids 'for you' .. ITS OUR HOUSE. ITS OUR CHILDREN. It's not for me!!!! Granted he does his fair share, works full time, he's a good hands on dad and partner but the 'for you' drives me absolutely insane.

My late MIL was like this, she once said 'Shall I clean your windows?' and I said I would have to check with OH as I wasn't sure which were 'my windows' and which were 'his windows', don't think she even noticed!

Mine is petty compared to yours but

My dd(6) with autism does many things to drive me up the wall, as all kids do!

But the one thing is that she messes up the duvet on my bed

So I will put the duvet on top of us, as we're getting ready to go to bed, or having a late night snack as we have done during this summer. Its neat and covers both of us and is in the right place on the bed

She will decide to hide under it at an odd angle

Or she will roll herself in it, so its not in its right place

Or just pull it half off the bed

So when I get into bed, the duvet is the wrong way round, its half off the bed, its not in its place. It just really pisses me off 😭😭😭

But I cant say anything, just silently curse in my head and then let it go

Can you buy two single duvets?

Strawberrydelight78 · 26/08/2025 20:40

Tiktok videos that try to flog you something here's the link.👇

One yesterday for an online cake seller claimed they found a cake on their doorstep. Said oh they thought family had sent it so had eaten it. Yeah without checking the delivery label. Then said oh we asked on the group chat nobody had sent it.

One that really winds me up is people online using that awful vocal fry voice. It's obviously put on like nails down a chalkboard. I often comment say I can't listen to the video.🙉🙉🙉

I agree with you. Also, "nibbles". They both make me want to punch the person saying it.

Nibbly bits🤕

BrickBiscuit · 26/08/2025 20:38

What pisses me off is posts appearing twice on Mumsnet threads. There is clearly something wrong with the program that it will accept two submissions of the same post in succession. It seems unfair to complain to the posters. No doubt they did not intend this to happen. From Horizon to double-posting, why is IT such shit?

somethingnewandexciting · 26/08/2025 20:38

The fact I have saved for emergencies (£30k, 2 kids and just me, hardly enough to replace boiler and pay for a 2nd hand car) means I can't get Child Benefit, even though I am a single parent. Feckless relatives who never bothered to save earn 70k and get child benefit because of tax loopholes and get to go on lavish holidays. Pisses me off as they laugh about it being free money and how they "deserve" it.
I know it's not popular opinion but I really resent that because I planned for a rainy day I don't get decades of support like they do.

All my friends won't stop talking about perimenopause - every teeny tiny thing that happens to anyone must be a symptom.....

I am the same age but cannot be arsed to think about it - I think most of us are too young for it to actually be an issue, it's more just that we have busy lives and have hit 40!

I just glaze over the conversation but it's getting really boring

Most of we oldies have probably never heard the word perimenopause until it became the latest fad, the McCall effect as I call it, is there anything she doesn't promote??? It used to be something that happened and one came out of the other side, I don't even remember it!

Midweektakeaway · 26/08/2025 20:36

My SIL who hasn't worked since having DN 12 years ago...."ooh can't wait for holiday, takes husband ages to really wind down so we have to go for ten days or two weeks for him to relax"....yes because he works really hard funding you to do nothing!! Bemoans helping PIL past the basics, even though has no other tasks or commitments. Moans about being overweight but has all day everyday to go for walks and improve health and fitness. Doesn't ever offer holiday days out with our children that she says she adores and will put in SM 'gorgeous DN etc..."... Ooh that was a good vent!!

This is ace😂

My chicken Kiev leaked all the buttery juice all over the foil and I'm absolutely distraught 😳.

😂

PiriPiriMenopause · 26/08/2025 20:33

My marriage!!!!! Fucking hate it 99% of the time. No way out though because I’m an idiot.

My friend talks with his mouth full. Spits his food all over the table ..
I've told him too several times. He just doesn't care

'Say it, don't spray it' is my usual comment.

PilatesAndLattes · 26/08/2025 20:32

Overweight people who think it’s very funny to address you as “hey fatty” or say “ you’re fat now” when you are pregnant, but you are back to a size 6 within a year postpartum with each baby.

People who spit in the street or blow snot out of their nose onto the pavement.

People who smoke in crowded public places/pathways.

PonkyPonky · 26/08/2025 20:28

People who can’t use a calendar for school things so the school chat is just filled with
”when is the next forest school day”
”wait, what mufti day. I haven’t been told about this”
”does anyone know when the school trip is”
Just put it on your FUCKING CALENDAR FFS! So bloody rude to expect everyone else to remember for you.

FudgeSweet · 26/08/2025 20:26

Noisy fuckers REALLY annoy me. I find them so bloody inconsiderate!

I'm talking about if you're in a restaurant and you can't miss them because, despite the buzz of everyone else's conversations, you can't help but hear every word that one extra noisy group of people say. They're so noisy that you try to concentrate on your own conversation but simply can't because of that one group of attention seeking fuckwits. It drives me batty!

There doesn't seem to be any sense of decorum amongst some people these days. Kids don't seem to be taught to keep it down when eating out.

Tangelablue · 26/08/2025 20:24

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 26/08/2025 18:41

Oh, and this is strangely specific but -

everyone who admires my dog and then says 'I had a Jack Russell once' (or their mother did, or their friend, or there was one down the road...)

She's a fucking Patterdale. They aren't like Jack Russells - they are WORSE! A MILLION TIMES WORSE!

Phew. And also she's a bitch, not a 'lovely boy'. Thank you.

My mum misgenders my lovely dog all the time. I've given up correcting her. No idea why she thinks my dog is male with a female name.

Strawberrryfields · 26/08/2025 20:19

The ridiculous obsession with dogs! If you’re not equally obsessed and don’t want precious doggo fur babies sniffing around you in every pub, cafe or office you’re practically the devil incarnate. I don’t mind dogs but I don’t worship them.

SatsumaDog · 26/08/2025 20:18

DisabledDemon · 26/08/2025 20:16

People who park in disabled spaces when they're not. I'd have their vehicles crushed and if they happen to be in them at the time, well, that's a bonus.

Absolutely. I see this all the time. Just lazy entitled people with no regard for those who genuinely need the spaces.

People who monopolise gym equipment not actually using it for its intended purpose e.g doing multiple exercises in a squat rack that don’t actually involve using the barbell. Standing right in front of the dumbbell rack whilst exercising and stopping other people from accessing the weights. Supersets involving multiple machines for half an hour rendering them out of use for other people during that time. Just general selfish shitty behaviour in the gym really pisses me off.

And sitting on the equipment resting between sets while mucking about on their mobile

WooleyMunky · 26/08/2025 20:18

Flag wankers.
Anti-flag wankers.

Fathers that act like they invented parenting.

MLM

Musk and Zuck and their shitty products.

Tesco discontinuing their admittedly seasonal summer potato salad. Proper fucking nice.

Mumofsoontobe3 · 26/08/2025 20:17

Vegalyra · 26/08/2025 20:00

My DH used to do this a lot in the first couple of years after our eldest was born. For every little bit of basic parenting he had to be praised like he was doing me a favour and deserved a medal. Used to drive me crazy. Luckily it’s stopped now. I think my repeated eye-rolling did the trick.

Can you come eye-roll at my husband too? We have 3 children, from age 6 to a newborn, I tell him all the time .. nothing is done 'for me' I think he says it out of habit but it drives me absolutely scatty!!

My son has autism he hates an unmade bed. If I make a bed he has to lie in it and mess it up for some reason. So I just gave up making beds. 😂😂😥They say it's good to air your bed anyway.

😭😭😭 i'm using that, 'just airing the bed!' Aha

Why are they like this, honestly!!

OMG (and this has just happened again) how DH totally ignores the meal plans for the week and uses all the ingreidents I have bought in some random meal and then I need to shop again. It annoys me SO MUCH.
