AIBU- worried about rain on wedding day

We are getting married in Spain on 27th with our family ( my fiance is Spanish ) the weather this morning was showing sunshine purely and this afternoon 55% chance of rain. We wanted to get married outside and the inside option isn’t as nice and completely defeats the object of getting married abroad.

I feel really sad about it. I know it’s 10 days away and could change back as easily as it changed this morning… but I feel a bit deflated tbh

Rain on a wedding day is seen as a blessing.

”An external wedding”?! I’ve heard it all now.

You’re getting married outside, hopefully not in the rain. The rain will probably fall in the hills and the Spanish weather will be glorious but that’s one thing you can’t bridezilla into submission 🤣

We had this worry with our outdoor wedding reception many years ago but when I did some research on what the best plan was, or if it had happened to other people, I discovered that rain actually makes the photos better, so there's that! The only thing you can really do is lean into it and try to enjoy the day anyway.
Oh and it didn't rain on the day after all! Good luck!

10 days away is far to far away to have an accurate forecast.

And even if it does rain it isn’t going to be like British rain in November where it drizzles all day and it is cold and dark and miserable. It will be a short sharp shower and then everywhere will be dry within minutes.

Arlanymor · 17/08/2025 12:14

I don't think there is much you can do about it, just focus on the looking forward to it bit and think how lovely it will be to be married and to have a nice day with your nearest and dearest. Also rain showers can come and then go, and dry out so quickly that you wouldn't even know it had rained a few moments before. You have a Plan B but I don't think it negates the point of having it in Spain. Provided it's not a storm that is a forecast a bit of rain can honestly be over in seconds.

It snowed on my grandmother's wedding day and the vicar told her it was God's confetti... definitely didn't spoil her day.

It’s 10 days away - the forecast could change 100 times. Worrying about it won’t change anything or let you know what the weather is going to be like.

keep your fingers crossed and crack on with getting ready for your trip/wedding. Have a lovely day when it comes!

Don't dwell on it, there is absolutely nothing you can do about it.
The forecast this far ahead isn't accurate anyway.

It can't defeat the object, surely the object of getting married is to be married?

If we didn’t want an external wedding, we would’ve booked England and got our Spanish family over to here.. not vice versa. When you have a wedding, you have a vision and a location dream… your sarcastic comments don’t take away from the fact that it’s ok to have a ‘perfect wedding’ vision and our wedding we wanted it to be outside.

It's Spain, it might rain for 10 mins and then be blazing hot again. It's also 10 days away. So chin up.

ElfAndSafetyBored · 17/08/2025 12:08

It’s meant to be lucky for the marriage, but I can see why you feel like that.

But weather is so changeable. Put it to the back of your mind for now, look again with 3 days to go.
