To be sick of the royal propaganda the UK is fed?

I know most people don’t give a damn about the Windsors any more .

However , in a week when we learn about Philip’s affairs - notably with Sarah Ferguson’s mother ( all covered up of course like the rest of their debachery) we are now expected to swallow the line that William and Kate’s next mansion is ‘paid for by William and Kate themselves ‘

No . That’s not the complete truth .Every penny the Windsors have , they have taken from the people . We now know William and Charles make millions from public services like the NHS schools and charities . We only know about this as a result of dogged journalistic digging . And most of the mainstream media barely covered the scandal .

There are many threads here about how the UK is in steep decline and how people are suffering . Yet the royals are taking in half a billion a year and charging charities on top !

At least admit to us that all their money is stolen from us ?

Oh and if you haven’t heard the queen knew all about Andrew pocketing money via ‘pitch at the palace’

She was told repeatedly by officials . She did nothing
Can we have some facts please ?
The Windsors are a total facade - they are all like Andrew - he’s just the latest fall guy .

If you are basing your comments on the book that came out on 14th, there is at least one very glaring inaccuracy in it, which could easily have been checked. Most of it consists of regurgitation and virtually all sums of money mentioned are in $, so my assumption is that it is aimed at the US market.
It is not even very well written.
I would believe more of the twaddle if the so-called facts could be verified, rather than statements making allegations and then saying that the means of verification had been "destroyed".

What a load of made up nonsense you have been reading @Ukisgaslit . You can't seriously believe all this? Confused

As for your claim that most people don't care about The Windsors anymore. Speak for yourself. Many people are Royalists, and the Royal Family is here to stay. No matter how much it may irk you. Wink

On a week where learn about Philip affair? Which Philip? Where are you getting information? Instagram?

Most royal families, all over the world, became royal through land ownership through power. And in current times, they have negotiated a kind of deal with governments to continue to enjoy their lifestyle. It’s not fair but this is the way it is and not worth wasting energy.

A well respected historian and author has written a new biography of Andrew .
That’s where we found out about prince Philip’s affair with Sarah fergusons mother

There is great deal more in the book about Andrew’s corruption and the fact that the queen knew and did nothing

Yes the only possible alternative to a hereditary royal family that costs billions is Donald Trump. And British people are stupid anyway and would vote for a pig in a wig if it got enough likes on TikTok to be a head of state. Ffs.

My personal distaste for royalty is because it provides the window dressing for the rest of the aristocracy in this country bleeding us dry. Inheritance tax is for working class people who managed to buy a house, not for Lord Snootyfuck who inherits billions from the family estate. And the worst of it is we’re expected to show these people respect and deference if we have the misfortune to come into contact with them.

The lack of political understanding from so many often amazes me, must be because the school curriculum doesn't prioritise a political or social element that might (heaven forbid) shine a light on the way the country is run!

If the RF was replaced by a President, s/he would NOT be an executive leader like Trump or say Macron. S/he would be Head of State with no political power, just a figurehead exactly like King Charles is right now. The main difference is that a president would be voted in and the term would be finite, unless the RF's tenure which is infinite.

Take your pick.

Thank you

It seems this point must be repeated on each and every thread with any criticism of the Windsors

Plus the Windsors represent the Tories / entrenched class system - tentacles everywhere- lots of influence with some deniability ( if you don’t look too closely )

A president we vote for would at least breathe fresh air into the system .
Or the president could be a Windsor - with a fixed salary and no more ripping off the people - and subject to the law of the land .

That may be an acceptable compromise .

Im sick of the propaganda but mainly I’m sick of half a billion wasted annually when I know people need help
Royalty is a con and the Windsors are fully ripping us off

What gets me is that when Parliament was illegally prorogued by Johnson, the Royal family, which is SUPPOSED to act as one of the last ditch checks and balances on Government, was either unable or unwilling to do anything. It showed just how bloody useless and redundant it was.

All that land that could help the declared land shortages in so many ways.

Get the fuck rid. Tax the bastards out of existence.

They won’t ever step in. They just won’t

I am not British but I defo do not get the appeal of this RF, particularly W&K.

The Queen was understandably a figure of esteem and affection. Charles and - say what you like about her - Diana - were absolute workhorses. Whatever their personal failings, both did a lot of good for the UK, It is sad that they couldn’t form a unit.

William did not seem to get the work ethic gene. TBF he did not gave an easy time growing up. Obviously one doesn’t wish cancer on anybody but Kate never seemed to do much, really.

William didn’t give easy time growing up? He supported Diana emotionally, which is a big ask from a child. I don’t know how you know his work ethics.

The royals do pay tax - that changed under Queen Elizabeth. I’m not fussed about the royal family but I am unconvinced a president would cost less.

A president would get some kind of salary or stipend, a residence and expenses. I highly doubt that his or her children, grandchildren or siblings would receive any kind of state support....
And speaking of possible presidents, why are so many people convinced the post would be a sinecure just for retired politicians ?
If we get to vote for one why could we not choose from threatrical dame or knight, for example Dame Judi or Sir Ian, or a Nobel laureate from literature or the sciences, or a great charitable campaigner?
Old hat politicians would struggle to compete against national treasures like that.

So is the governing political party, and look how well that's turned out in recent times!

The spin on the piece about W&K moving house has really annoyed me.

They are paying for it themselves - yes, out of our money

They won't have live in staff - no, they'll just live 5 minutes walk away, so much more relatable

It's their forever home - absolute bollocks, he's going to be King and live in a palace. Actually several palaces.

Exactly this. It’s nauseating, and tone deaf when there is a housing crisis.

2dogsandabudgie · 16/08/2025 11:21

Of course he would. He would not have had so much freedom for a start. He would have been "trained" from a young age as all heirs to the throne are. Look at the difference between the Queen and Princess Margaret, William and Harry.

Ok then, what about Edward VIII?

Likely to have rolled out the red carpet for Hitler if he’d been able to carry on.

It's not that I disagree with you but I hadn't heard any of this. If you're being fed it by social media and you click on it, it will feed you more... So that might be the problem.

Completely agree lol!!

There is always a fall guy . A distraction .

They cover up for the incumbent
But that was easier to do years ago

Well yes. Otherwise it would be the unthinkable. All authority and responsibilities going to the Government. And as Starmer is currently in charge, not sure how he’d cope with any extra responsibilities, as he’s barely coping with what he’s got to do now.

You can’t just ignore the Windsors

Oh, I manage it. There’s abuse, corruption and greed everywhere. I couldn’t be bothered to single out one set of people for particular venom.

I find that attitude strange

Of course there is abuse and greed everywhere.
But we are funding this abuse and holding this family up as an example to us all . Why do the Windsors attempt to hide the truth if it doesn’t matter ?

Ukisgaslit · 16/08/2025 11:03

Yes me too !

The transparent PR is just too much

I know some people fall for it

But fewer and fewer

I don’t want to focus on the numerous Windsor affairs tittle tattle - but the aspect that annoys me is they are much more dissolute than the average person yet we pay for their anointing as head of COE .
The aww at Elizabeth and Philip when we know about Philip’s numerous affairs ( I didn’t know that he had a long affair with Sarah’s mother ) . I used to see royalists lash out at any suggestion of affairs . That has gone quiet

But it’s the pedophiles ans sex abusers that deeply disturb me . It’s not just Andrew and Mountbatten

There's no actual clear proof though that he had an affair. Maybe he did maybe he didn't, we will never know.
