To think that the USA is a dictatorship now?

Trump appears to have ultimate power. Who can challenge him? Who controls him? Presidents should not be dictating what drug companies charge for medicines on a whim, or indeed any other goods, at the drop of a hat. He says jump and the US says "How High?" What on earth have you done to yourselves and the world to let this evil, thick, orange toddler clown represent you? What the hell were you thinking?

You’ll have to ask the jury @Champagneandpringles24. After all, they made the judgement.

I'd absolutely love to ask them.

It was on video I've seen it and heard it with my own ears and eyes so how is he NOT GUILTY

The video shown online was a small clip from a longer one. The longer video provided context. The jury at the trial will have had sight of the full video.

Apart from that, are you suggesting that we should abolish the jury system because it's returned a result you aren't happy with?

BTW I'm not happy with it either, but I'm not comparing it to a completely different case and complaining online.

If you plead guilty, as Connolly did, it’s pretty obvious that you go straight to sentence. What do you expect to happen? A jury of 12 people found Jones not guilty. It’s quite obviously not the same.

Pleading guilty is supposed to give time off a sentence!! She's been given more time that some rapists for christ sake

It's corrupt, this country is corrupt!!

It's an absolute FACT that people are being treated differently and punished differently for very similar crimes and how you can argue otherwise is just beyond me.

Ricky Jones with hate speech in a public space stating throats should be slit which is on film IS FOUND NOT GUILTY vs Lucy Connelly who posted something on social out of shear rage and disgust about what happened in Southport then deleted it shortly after GUILTY 31 MONTHS CUSTODIAL SENTENCE.

HOW THE FUCK IS THAT NOT TWO TIER??

If I was an American citizen I would have voted for Trump 😑

Who is anti Trump? The woke idiots. The well -to-do middle classes who are afraid that their cheap illegal migrant latina housekeeper will be deported and they will have to hire someone with an actual green card or American citizenship and have to pay her higher wages.

The Hollywood elite is also anti Trump because they don’t live in the real, ordinary world. They don’t experience homelessness, job loss, financial problems, street crime etc. They are barricaded in their multimillion-dollar villas and wash their bums in jewel-encrusted gold bidets.
University students are also anti Trump because what do they know? They are still in the education system that is heavily focused on brainwashing young minds into little woke drones.

👏👏

It's been explained to you. This is how the law works in the UK. You're entitled not to like it, but it's not going to change any time soon. If you want to be cleared - maybe don't plead guilty.

Having private insurance would cover some of the costs. It's just getting the right plan. Some states do it better than others.

The USA actually leads the world in cutting edge therapies.

That’s of no use whatsoever if you can’t afford those cutting edge therapies.

Have you listened to yourself frothing at the mouth? And you’re trying to convince people you’re reasonable and rational? It’s perfectly obvious you’re neither.

She sounds like a dangerous Far Left type to Me

Also, nobody else's opinion matters but Her one, with her quite frankly bizarre and aggressive rants .

But your posts have made it clear that you absolutely do not... You can believe that we have a two tier justice system, but that belief is not borne out by the fact - and alternative facts really aren't a thing.

No we just let our 12 year olds get raped by grooming gangs then cover it up. We are no better.

Absolutely

God knows why Brits think their opinions on Trump matter, or what they hope to achieve by lecturing supposedly dumb Americans on their stupidity. The US elected him. Their choice, no one else’s. Look at the state the UK is in. How are Brits in a position to pontificate to anyone?

I am a Brit and I totally agree with You

Like Starmer is liked and loved by anyone much .

I strongly suggest you look up Ricky Jones, the Manchester Airport brothers and Lucy Connelly and then come back to me and tell me there is not a 2 tier justice system in this country.

There’s thread about this where numerous patient posters have used facts to explain why this isn’t the case. I strongly suggest you read it. Obviously you won’t because you’re a fact free zone..

I absolutely know my facts on this thank you very much

Menopausalsourpuss · 17/08/2025 11:22

Alot of TDS on here. I've just looked it up and his approval rating is -12% with the American public. Starmers is -43% with the British public and he's only 1 year into his first term unlike Trump so he's WAY less popular. Posters on here probably think it's because the public are ignorant or could be because the American public know way more about America than aload of people thousands of miles away who get all their info from the BBC/Guardian. And ridiculous to blame Trump for all the problems in America, most of the drug/homeless problems are in Dem run states and local govt has way more power than in the UK.

Not to mention the fact that you end up spending your days stressing out about insurance admin, chasing up insurance payments, fighting for the better care options etc instead of focusing on your health and wellbeing! (not firsthand experience thankfully but that of close friends who ended up in dire financial straits)

100% this. It’s at the very least a stressful part-time job and even if you’re lucky to have good coverage, you will spend your time managing the admin of it and dealing with incorrect claims - that will likely still cost thousands in deductible and out of pocket.

FreezeDriedStrawberries · 17/08/2025 10:51

IwasatClaines · 15/08/2025 21:15

Yes I think it’s a dictatorship.

A very early clue was Trump’s refusal to accept his electoral defeat after his first term to the point that a mob was encouraged to come to Capitol Hill.
A mob that got pardoned when he got back in second time.

And Trump has only been in power since February second time around.

Edited

Agree, how he got back in after that stunt is still baffling to me. He showed exactly who he is right there.

SamPM · 15/08/2025 21:22

I live in the US and its not a dictatorship. Many of us are quite happy with Trump. The UK elected Starmer who is the most incompetent and worthless PM in my lifetime. You should be worrying more about your loss of freedom of speech and civil liberties, the two-tier justice system you have, the crumbling NHS and the overwhelming increase in crime rate and unfettered illegal immigration. I no longer recognize the UK when I go back and definitely do not feel safe. But yes, by all means, have a superior smug dig at Trump and those that voted for him.

The UK will never ever reach the depths the USA has fallen to. Open your eyes and look around you - the highest rates of drug-related deaths in the world - people literally dying on the streets, addicts staggering round unable to stand straight due to fentanyl use, others with huge, rotting necrotic wounds, violent crime out of control, gang culture, people unable to access adequate healthcare, others working until they're fit to drop, riddled with arthritis. Sickening.

Just getting the right plan.

The right plans are incredibly expensive and often do not cover cutting-edge treatments. If you have a good plan in the US (usually via your employer) then you will often still spend in the lower thousands a year before your individual and family deductibles and out-of-pockets are met. Accessing affordable care is also usually based on in-network providers which can limit choices and availability of specific care. It’s not fun and is really hard to navigate when you or a loved one are unwell. It’s a part -time job in itself.

If you don’t have a good plan and / or are eligible for Medicaid / Medicare then these are still very limited and under attack from Trump.

I'm not sure you understand the word "dictatorship" OP. Try looking at countries with actual dictatorships for reference.

I watched an interesting Youtube video recently about how democracies end. It is usually by a populist getting legitimately elected, then dismantling the institutions behind them, which they get away with through a combination of popularity and fear.

USA may still be a democracy now, but Trump looks and behaves like the kind of leader who could end it.

It has done until now, a true medical and scientific world power. I've always admired that about the US. And now there's the biggest unscientific moron on the planet in charge of health that's not gonna last much longer. Look at the heartbreaking cuts into essential immunotherapy research and weep.

Why should I leave the UK when I'm happy to be here?

I was in London about 10 days ago and felt perfectly safe, thank you. Knife crime issues are directly related to gang issues. They need to be addressed, but they hardly equate to a country picking up people off the streets because they 'look foreign' and sticking them in concentration camps. If you think those two things are in any way similar, you aren't paying attention or you have an agenda.

You are of course fully entitled to your opinion on Starmer. However, the word 'cretin' is hideously ableist and better epithets are available. I suggest you use them.

You also clearly lack an understanding of how the UK legal system works. Let me explain it very simply: If you plead guilty to committing a crime, you end up in a track of the system that leads you straight to sentencing. Lucy Connolly knew this. She signed a document stating she understood the process and that she would likely receive a custodial sentence. She could have pleaded not guilty but chose not to.

Ricky Jones and the Manchester guys pleaded not guilty, which put them into a track of the system that leads to jury trial. Ricky Jones was found not guilty by a jury. Do I agree with that verdict? No. Is it how the UK system works? Yes. We'll see what happens to the Manchester attackers.

Now do you understand?

And all those examples illustrate how the rule of law works - and in the UK it's working fine thanks very much. That's what Americans call 'due process'.

No people may not be being dragged off the street, instead we have masked people walking around stabbing instead. London is now classed as one of the most dangerous cities. Even Mexicans are being advised again travel to the UK....let that sink in!!

It absolutely is my opinion that Starner is an incompetent cretin and I stick by that!!

Why should I have to move to America when I just want equality and the country to be ran properly, how about you piss off & live somewhere else!!
