To think that the USA is a dictatorship now?

We have laws against inciting racial hatred and against rioting, violence and causing criminal damage. People were charged, tried, and found guilty of breaking the law using lawful processes, and sentenced to a few months in prison. US sentencing is usually much harsher - people wouldn't see the light of day for years.

And now in the US people with the wrong coloured skin or accent are disappearing without lawful process or appeal. Get your own house in order. Good luck with voting out a dictator.

I love the way that poster phrased it… yeah we have a massive problem with grooming gangs and importing huge numbers of men from cultures quite different to our own, but we’ll gloss over that - at least we don’t have your particular problem!

As though that’s anything to boast about. Amazing that the UK, that supposed bastion of human rights, throws its own young girls under the bus as collateral damage in pursuit of that most prized virtue- tolerance. Forget the human rights of its own citizens, those girls, how inconvenient they’re spoiling the multicultural fantasy.

God knows why Brits think their opinions on Trump matter, or what they hope to achieve by lecturing supposedly dumb Americans on their stupidity. The US elected him. Their choice, no one else’s. Look at the state the UK is in. How are Brits in a position to pontificate to anyone?

It's not in a state and certainly not compared to the US. We have a proper political and legal system with checks and balances and an independent system. We have free and accessible healthcare, not the scraps thrown to you occasionally after emptying your wallets into insurance. We have at least five weeks annual leave a year and proper matenity leave and sound employment rights. We have a very safe, tolerant country where we can freely express our views without fear of reprisal. We have largely very good race and gender relations. We don't have guns and violent crime is low. We don't have hundreds of kids killed by lone gumen a year in schools - in fact, like in most countries without a gun culture, we usually have zero school shootings in a year, unlike the US which averages one a week. Women can get safe, free abortions and contraception without fear of ptosecution or persecution. The US is seriously fucked up and is fast going to hell in a handcart with an orange rapist dictator.

What was the point in that exercise? All this ranting about orange rapists makes you sound unhinged.

You’ve listed all the ways you believe the UK is superior to the US. Good for you, you live here, that’s fine. What do you want, every single country on earth to be a carbon copy of this one? People are not the same - they have different cultures, different priorities. They’re allowed to. Just because you want it, doesn’t mean others have to. Don’t like the US? Dont live there. Why do you care so much? It’s none of your business.

And the tolerant UK you’re so proud of lets in masses of immigrant men to rape and abuse little girls - that’s the country you’re so proud of….

I was told a few days ago by someone who was travelling to Washington soon that they check your phone as you enter the country to see if you have any anti- Trump stuff on your social media. If you do they can and will refuse entry. So they are going to set themselves up with a completely blank phone. I was 😮

And there are a ton of threads on UK politics and issues. This one is about the US, and Trump. We don't have to be perfect before we can criticise you or your President either. That's not how it works.

IMO I think there is a subset of mn posters who lack the critical thinking to realise that - surprise - other people think differently from them, and aren't idiots/racists (insert abusive epithet of choice).

I'm not sure you understand the word "dictatorship" OP. Try looking at countries with actual dictatorships for reference.

Which is all well and good when you agree with the stuff he is ‘getting done’. When it negatively impacts you and there is no democratic way to stop it happening it might start to feel rather like communism.

I live in the US and its not a dictatorship. Many of us are quite happy with Trump. The UK elected Starmer who is the most incompetent and worthless PM in my lifetime. You should be worrying more about your loss of freedom of speech and civil liberties, the two-tier justice system you have, the crumbling NHS and the overwhelming increase in crime rate and unfettered illegal immigration. I no longer recognize the UK when I go back and definitely do not feel safe. But yes, by all means, have a superior smug dig at Trump and those that voted for him.

Yes, why would we have a view on a world superpower whose actions can affect all our lives? Seemingly at the drop of a hat, a brainfart comes out of his gob and suddenly our drugs cost 70% more. Why would we have a view on that?

Don't worry, I'm sure soon you won't be allowed to have a view that opposes your government or President and won't be able to hear any of our uncomfortable criticism from elsewhere. I just hope you've read The Hunger Games and The Handmaid's Tale.

lol. At least we don’t force 12 year olds who have been raped to have a forced birth. We still respect Womens right to have bodily autonomy in this country. With the US overturning Roe and Wade I don’t recognise what country you have become, with pastors (read right wing Christian fundamentalists) who openly preach that women need to submit to their husbands. With vile men like Tate being welcome by the US. With Trump forcing law firms, universities to submit to him you don’t have much freedom of speech either. Oh and at least none of us will become bankrupt when we need healthcare in this country.

Of course it’s not, don’t be so silly. When you voted Conservative and ended up with Labour, do you suddenly start believing you live in a communist state because you don’t like Labour policies and didn’t vote for them?
