A friend of mine slept with three of her ex-wife's friends in quick succession, shortly after they broke up. The ex-wife cheated on her and was generally dickish so I'm fully behind it. They both share lots of mutual friends (two of the shagees are in this mutual friend web, one isn't) and it would absolutely blow up the whole friendship group should it come out. MINEFIELD.

SmegFridge · 16/08/2025 00:14

My mum was in a "relationship" with the semi-famous father of a very famous actor (not UK or US), and the guy was married. I think she would have ended up in gossip news if it had ever come out. 🙈 The man died some years ago and it was fairly widely reported, and my mum was gutted she couldn't go to the funeral or talk to anyone about it. They were no longer together when he died, but it still must have stung seeing his pictures on the news etc. I also feel sorry for the guy's wife.

Whenever the actor comes up in anything I can't help but think that my mum has been with his dad. 🙈

This is the most interesting post ever! I’ve read the entire thing! And I still can’t think of any good gossip! Maybe this… a female friend of mine once came to a party at my house then hid upstairs the whole time claiming a migraine. When I went up to see how she was she confessed that at the party was a man she once went out with for a short time while his GF, now wife, was away travelling. I’m close to his wife (who was also at the party, hence why my friend hid) and months later I asked her if her and her hubby were ‘on a break’ as it were, when she went travelling. She said no they’d never had a break.
My blood ran cold.
But this was 30 years ago, before they were even married. So unless I get whiff of anything else untoward (which I absolutely haven’t) I’m never going to mention it.

I found out recently that a woman up the road doesn't know that one of closest friends is sleeping with her son. (He's in his late 20s). It's nothing to do with me and I've no intention of getting involved, but I wish I didn't know about it.

as in older woman younger guy (cougar women ?)

@LittleBitButthurt what a shock that must be in your 80s - although maybe he already had an inkling. Families think they are brilliant at keeping secrets, but kids do notice discrepancies. I think every kid wonders about their biological provenance at some point: I certainly did, despite no real obvious red flags.

No he honestly had no idea! My mum is pretty pissed off that my DGM went to her grave (nearly 20 years after my DGF) not letting him know the truth. I guess when she died in 1993 she could never had foreseen Ancestry being a thing.

You mean me? Yeah I have a bit. That’s life - different options. If it were me, I’d spill all but not everyone is like me 🤷‍♀️

i hope your friends don’t tell you secret stuff then. I know stuff but it’s secret and I would not every gossip about it on here like a 12 year old old girl 😂

Poodlelove · 16/08/2025 00:01

I can see someone who lives very close to me in the shower every day , he really should get a blind, I have moved my garden chair for a better view.

IMissSparkling · 16/08/2025 00:00

Two of my colleagues (both married) are having an affair despite working from home in different cities. I regularly have to access both their calendars and there are too many "private appointments" in at the same time to be a co-incidence... There are other clues but that's the main one. Plus whenever I have thought that two people I know are secretly shagging, it all comes out later and I have never, ever been wrong!

Courtesy of Ancestry we’ve recently discovered that my DM and her brother are only half siblings. Turns out he’s half Jew, and he has family in America. We suspect my grandmother had a dalliance with an American GI while my grandfather was away fighting in the war.

Considering he’s nearly 80 and lived his whole life assuming another man is his father he’s taken it pretty well. He’s starting addressing my DM as his ‘gentile sister’ in messages, and joking about having a joint 80th/bar mitzvah 🤣

(NC) I found out last week that I'm about to receive a six-figure inheritance. Completely unexpected, life-changing. Have actually spent the last few years building a nice life for myself and my little cat, following an abusive relationship and being forced out of my job. Got the news in the middle of uploading a bunch of old clothes to sell on Vinted to make the cash to get a new(ish) autumn coat.

All the best and positivity

TheTeasmaid · 15/08/2025 23:50

at previous position i offered my help to management but my line manager seemed against me helping other departments for some reason. so instead i talked to all the other managers myself and offered my assistance, because then its upto those managers if they needed me. and they did use my assistance at times and the look on my managers face and reaction was omg,

My DH is convinced his Dad had an affair.

My son’s best mate’s long-term girlfriend made a pass at my DS. His mate’s mum is also a very close friend of mine, so I feel a bit awkward knowing this! They are (very) young adults though, so no big deal I guess.

more my own secrets rather than gossip- have had Botox twice (no-one noticed 😂) . Also have had a huge crush on a mutual friend of mine and DHs for years. He drunkenly indicated to me that he feels the same but neither of us are silly enough to risk our marriages by acting on it.

That seems quite exciting though (as long as you don't act on it) 😬

I'm quite a private person but reading some of the posts make me think I wouldn't be too averse to being the subject of some minor office gossip - I've had an almighty crush on a woman at work for absolutely ages. I'm amazed nobody has picked up on it since I'm like a dizzy teenager despite my best efforts to be a normal 40-something woman. Or maybe they have!

An acquaintance has just found out that her husband has been having an affair for 5 years: she contacted me as I used to be a lawyer, and has given me all the info.

She found out because they bought a phone for their 11 year old for starting secondary in September, and he accidentally left it in his dad’s car. When she used the “find my phone” feature she saw the car parked on a street in a town that is roughly on his one hour commute to work but he has no reason to be there, so she started snooping and now has all sorts of proof.

It turns out when he told her 5 years ago that his promotion meant he had to do longer hours, he was lying: ever since then he’s been stopping off on his commute either morning or evening and spending 2 hours with his mistress.

He also flew the mistress out to the area of her (the wife’s) family’s holiday home, so that he could claim he was going golfing but actually spend time with her.

Omg please tell me your aquaintance has her ducks in a row. What a bastard. I hope she calmly tells him she knows and says nothing else let him think he got off lightly then when the divorce proceedings start let him see exactly what evidence she has. That would be the karma bus running over and reversing on him 🤣🤣

mumofoneAloneandwell · 15/08/2025 21:15

👀👀👀 do you think it will come out publicly?

I'm secretly guessing (based on my whimsical imagination) but won't ask any more about her (even though i'm dying to know 😄)

That reminds me, mylene klass is still hinting about her ex's affair - i'm still thinking its stacey s* but who knows

See, I thought Rochelle H* but who knows

Notmaintain · 15/08/2025 23:39

Absolutely. I was green with envy. I got vicarious enjoyment from hearing about it, though.

Zoesherman · 15/08/2025 23:37

Testerical · 15/08/2025 23:31

@usernumber284 blimey! That’s some mental gymnastics. I think I’d just tell them I’d now resigned and get on with life. No need for a big reveal about it having taken place months ago, but equally you don’t need the mental work of managing people’s expectations. Plus honesty is usually the best thing in close relationships - I’d feel a bit weird if I found out someone I cared about left a job ages ago but didn’t tell me.

No shame in being retired and you won’t have to pretend to be engaged at the PC ;) You could even tell them why you didn’t spill beforehand - presumably because you didn’t want to explain the work nonsense and deal with the well-meaning advice to ‘try and work things out’. You’ve been fine financially and could always get a workaday job to pay the bills. Might be best to fess up for your own well-being.

Not until next July!

What a fabulous present! And you have to keep that under your hat for nearly a year??? Wow. When do you think you'll tell him?

usernumber284 · 15/08/2025 23:25

(sorry that my post wasn't gossip... just a secret... but I wanted to tell someone!)

Douchey · 15/08/2025 23:24

Worked with a lovely, gorgeous guy for 5 years at a company where workplace romance is very much frowned upon.

Fast forward to my leaving party, we kissed, then spent a few nights together before I moved 900 miles away for a new job.

I cant stop thinking about him 😔

Ps. I know this isnt really gossip as its me, but I've not been able to tell anyone

Testerical · 15/08/2025 23:22

A female relative of mine had an affair with someone on the same shifts as her at 530am in the mornings. I do not blame her at all for this but I was pretty shocked when she told me as I had no idea.

Her husband has probably been having a gay relationship outside the marriage for half a century. There is a lot of it about.

Another person I know of who is now unfortunately suffering from dementia turned out to have had a VERY colourful sexual history including many standard affairs and a few relationships that are banned by professional regulatory frameworks. Again, didn’t come out until old age.

None of this is gossip in the sense you’d think of, but it does go to show that people often have complicated lives.

I have much, much more sympathy for women who broke rules 30,40 and 50 years ago because the rules were skewed against them. They were basically trapped by finances.
