To think that white British/ American etcmen are just as much a threat to women as migrants?

malificent7 · 08/08/2025 12:47

I am not excusing grooming, paedophile sex rings and unmonitored immigration at all but I hate all these protests.
I know that my white male ex teacher is a sex offender. Not to mention the Epstein scandal.
Aibu to think that ALL men are a danger to women...not just men of different ethnicities/ religions etc?

The right wing media is whipping up fears and fudging its facts, we all know it.

I disagree . A quick google shows that the Uk has a lower rate of violence against women than the countries lots of immigrants into the uk are coming from.
chatgpt offered some percentages which are quite frightening. Women really are just second class citizens in some countries . You’re fooling yourself if you think those men change when they come to the UK.

So you're sympathetic to the far right? You understand that they're racists and will use any argument in order to have an ethnostate? They want mass remigration and are manipulating people into turning against asylum seekers and Muslim men by labelling them all as rapists and paedophiles.

You're sympathetic to them trying to break into hotels to attack people? You're sympathetic to them stirring up hatred and division in local communities and making people feel unsafe?

Not sympathetic, no.

None of what you wrote follows from what I wrote.

What total indifference to women's rights? It's part of Labour's manifesto to half domestic violence - how is that total indifference?

None of the views the far right hold are 'reasonable', the far right by definition are extremists.

Give over. Labour didn't even know what a woman was until the SC forced them.

It's not just the far right who are worried about some of the men who are arriving here, and the cultural norms they are bringing with them. And no, it's not about skin colour.

Bathingforest · 08/08/2025 14:46

How many white men in recent years raped and killed white girls. Many. And it's on the news

Edited for spelling

SpaceRaccoon · 08/08/2025 14:46

OP the stats wouldn't agree with you - there are defininitely differences based on differing attitudes to women depending on cultural background.

I don't think it's useful to specifically include skin colour.

MiloMinderbinder925 · 08/08/2025 14:44

NeelyOHara · 08/08/2025 14:42

I don’t think this is true. Do you have stats?

What stats?

TonTonMacoute · 08/08/2025 14:44

Women should be wary around all men, but it's not a question of the men from which ethnicity are worse or more dangerous.

What is causing the demonstrations is the perception (whether true or not) that ethnic perpetrators are not being pursued and punished with as much zeal as white perpetrators, and in fact if they do commit these offences the authorities bend over backwards to keep it quiet.

The recent scandal around the Rotherham rape gangs, which was clearly covered up for decades because it was believed that it would trigger racist attacks against the community, has caused this backlash. Everyone in the regions knew it was happening, and they saw the authorities doing nothing to stop it because the men doing it were of Pakistani origin. How has that played out long term? It's made everything worse - not least for the victims of that horrendous abuse.

Of course there are still native white sex offenders, but acrosss Europe the number of sexual assaults by male migrants/asylum seekers has risen by leaps and bounds.

You would have to be quite dense not to see what is making people angry here. We need to deal with the actual facts if we want to solve the problem.

Sorry but that’s just silly.

Are any of the views the far left holds reasonable? Clearly yes (I say as a centre-rightist). The far left holds many reasonable views, and many unreasonable ones.

If the far right are against sex attacks committed by immigrants, that’s one of the reasonable views they hold.

Sexual offences are usually by someone the victim knows such as her partner or ex partner, colleague, family member, friend and stranger attacks are rare. Conversley, stranger attacks are more common with male victims.

I think the weaponisation of VAWAG by the far right is despicable especially since they're not adverse to giving women a good kicking themselves.

I don’t think this is true. Do you have stats?

myplace · 08/08/2025 14:41

All men are a potential threat. Some men I have no choice but to live alongside- my neighbours, people who grew up here, enjoyed our education system and culture and still turned into abusive bollocks.

Others didn't have that advantage, so perhaps have cultural excuses for their behaviour- but I would prefer they stayed in the culture they grew up in than came and lived next door to me.

I saw a statistic from a women’s rights group comparing India, Pakistan and Bangladeshi for abuse of women and girls. The difference between the three countries was huge. 85% of women in Pakistan experience abuse, something like 40% Bangladesh and only 30% in India.

I consider it foolhardy to ignore those statistics.

Personally I think some people are complete idiots and some people are just faux naive to suit their political agenda. Not sure which applies to you OP.

why do you have to choose

They’re factually, demonstrably more of a threat.

Non white men?

GeneralPeter · 08/08/2025 14:33

The UK doesn’t publish crime stats split by national origin.

Some European countries do, and they show vastly differing offending rates for sexual crimes between different countries of origin.

So to answer your question you really need to get more specific.

All men being a risk is trivially true, but if you are serious about discussing risk rates you must be ready to engage with the evidence wherever it leads. In the UK unfortunately that’s hard to do because official data is not published.

Someone who guesses that some countries’ men are a huge extra threat relative to UK men would be on reasonably strong grounds, though, based on what we see elsewhere.

Abhannmor · 08/08/2025 14:31

There's a video on Instagram of an anti migrant protest , lots of Union flags etc. Several of the men are grabbing their genitals and making obscene hand gestures - presumably at some woman/ women filming them? A couple of women in their midst don't seem to mind this. Two female police officers present are commendably restrained. Perhaps they've seen it all before . These are the lads who want to ' protect our children '.

You're not wrong... however, the left as it currently is is handing this to them on a plate by demonstrating its own total indifference to women's rights. It's also driving people towards the far right by telling them that they are already far right for holding entirely reasonable views based in fact.

I hope it's changing but it's not there yet. The right thinks women are private property and the left thinks they're public property.

Crochetandtea · 08/08/2025 14:29

To answer your question .
I think women in the UK are at a higher risk of violence from men who come from countries where there are higher rates of violence against women.
We have a huge problem in the Uk and being kind and inclusive won’t solve it.

MidnightPatrol · 08/08/2025 14:26

I am slightly curious about the enthusiastic importing of men from countries where women are seen as second class citizens.

Not from a sex offences view, but just a broader perceptions of women in society.

AnneLovesGilbert · 08/08/2025 14:25

Have you looked into readily available data you can provide to back your assertion up or are you just here to signal your virtue?

The biggest threat comes from the type of people who protest at migrant hotels "to protect our women and children" Two in five arrested for last summer’s UK riots had been reported for domestic abuse | Domestic violence | The Guardian

Agreed. There are far more of them than migrants and the Relationships threads on here will show that.
