To think that white British/ American etcmen are just as much a threat to women as migrants?

malificent7 · 08/08/2025 12:47

I am not excusing grooming, paedophile sex rings and unmonitored immigration at all but I hate all these protests.
I know that my white male ex teacher is a sex offender. Not to mention the Epstein scandal.
Aibu to think that ALL men are a danger to women...not just men of different ethnicities/ religions etc?

@MiloMinderbinder925 - can you explain why a recent rapist’s defence (a patient attacking woman in a London hospital) was that in his culture this wasn’t unacceptable?

Why in many countries are women expected, nay, mandated , to dress modestly or to be covered completely?

SpaceRaccoon · 08/08/2025 15:23

Can anyone confirm that the risk profile for women from men is the same worldwide? No difference between regions? I always thought some countries were safer than others, but perhaps not.

The sexual violence stats from various European countries do show an over-representation of men from certain countries and regions, yes.

What total indifference to women's rights? It's part of Labour's manifesto to half domestic violence - how is that total indifference?

None of the views the far right hold are 'reasonable', the far right by definition are extremists.

None of the views the far right hold are 'reasonable'

Of course, which is why it's such a spectacular own goal, not to mention hugely dishonest, to take views that are reasonable and accuse them of being far right. I don't want to derail, but people have been accused of being far right for wanting single sex spaces or a proper inquiry into the rape gangs scandal. When you try to shut people up by calling them far right over things like that, don't be surprised if they start wondering what's so wrong about being far right.

It's also entirely possible to be unreasonable but not far right.

The far right are racist and want an ethnostate. That's the premise on which their arguments are based and you find them reasonable. Next you'll be telling me that Tommy Robinson is just misunderstood.

Ok — last opportunity to show you are capable of engaging properly.

You didn’t answer whether you think the far left holds any reasonable views.

Do you?

That will help us work out how we are each conceiving of the terms here, and hence why we might be disagreeing.

(I do, by the way. That’s not, in my conception, a claim that the far left overall is reasonable, and certainly doesn’t entail that I support all views held by the far left.)

Evilspiritgin · 08/08/2025 15:13

Well obviously women are more at risk from white men as we’re a predominantly white country , now the percentage of men from different ethnicities committing sexual crimes within their demographic percentage, I don’t know

Of course all men are potential problems but respecting the laws and attitudes of the country that you’ve moved to should probably be a condition of asylum or the right to stay in a country. This obviously goes for drug smuggling Brits (“it’s just weed”) and Brits who emigrate to Spain as well as people from countries where they kill gay people and think that rape isn’t a big deal. Maybe there needs to be mandatory classes while waiting for asylum to be granted because I suspect that some of them don’t even see their behaviour as problematic.

You know nothing about Labour's history on women's rights evidently, and as I said, it was part of their manifesto to half domestic violence. That's not total indifference to women's rights.

You're being manipulated by the far right, they've weaponised VAWAG to push their racist agenda. And yes, unfortunately for you, tarring all men from certain ethnicities as rapists and paedophiles is racist.

Nope I'm not being manipulated by anyone I'm afraid. I understand that it must be difficult for you to digest that not all of the people who are worried are far right. As for Labour, well they seem to think that some of us have a penis so...

I will ask again, are you a woman?

Look at the rape statistics for Sweden, in particular the nationality of the rapists

Your claim was that none of the far right’s views are reasonable. That’s a different claim from the far right is not reasonable.

Judging whether a view is reasonable is different from judging whether a movement is.

You can’t hold your position constant from one post to the next. Not worth engaging with.

WhenYouSayNothingAtAll · 08/08/2025 15:03

I don’t agree with the protests, rioting , violence and racism. The hypocrisy is annoying as fuck. Especially when some of the same voices defend the “local legend” and shame and disparage their victims.

I do agree the problem is men. In which case, having even more men around , increases the risk , that’s before you even take into account the possible trauma, mental health issues, too much time on their hands , their dehumanisation, their attitudes to women etc.

TheNuthatch · 08/08/2025 14:56

Yes of course. Labour are awesome on women's rights aren't they. <polite cough>

It is you who keeps referencing the far right as it suits your narrative. I'm not far right. I doubt many others on this thread are either. I still have concerns about men from highly misogynistic cultures.

Are you a woman? Just so we know.

You’re right op. Men commit most of the violent and sexual crime so it’s all men we should be wary of.

It is a worry however, when there is an influx of low skilled, poorly educated men raised in cultures where women are expected to be ‘modest’. The mindset is that if a women ‘tempts’ a man (through dress or speech) she is seen as responsible for whatever he does to her. I’d rather not have those men imported in large numbers thanks.

We’ve got enough problems with misogny as it is.

Agree with this. There’s no doubt men commit most crimes, we can still have a better system for entry into the country.

Great counter argument from someone who thinks the far right are reasonable.

You’re either unusually bad at reasoning or not arguing in good faith.

TY78910 · 08/08/2025 14:57

These threads are frustrating because they imply that there is a very clear yes I agree or no I disagree.

The way I see it is that yes men are capable of these crimes no matter their skin colour or where they are from. The issue with irregular migration is that it’s harder to ascertain what character you’re inviting to integrate in to our society, but also that culturally certain behaviours are more tolerated than here and so it’s hard to know if someone will adapt to that. So the debate is based around trying to see in to the distance and doing as much damage control as possible.

I hate immigrant bashing - the riots, the hatred online, click bait articles from questionable newspapers, Nigel Farage posting screenshots of job openings and implying ‘Islam is taking over’ stirring up hatred in the comments section. But the reality is that the vast majority of those migrants will be alright, they will keep their heads down and get on with whatever they need to do, maybe settle down with a nice family. But a tiny percentage will offend, whether it’s sexual or tax evasion - doesn’t matter. And it’s about saying what do we do to control that and avoid it, rather than widening the pool of male offenders that are in the country.

Don't be ridiculous. The trans takeover happened under the Tories and was inherited by Labour. You're suggesting that a load of racists with histories of domestic abuse care about women's safety? Now who's naive?

Yes of course. Labour are awesome on women's rights aren't they. <polite cough>

This is completely overwrought straw man stuff. You will not win the argument with this hyperbole.

Frankly this is exactly the sort of gaslighting guff that people are totally sick of hearing.

TheNuthatch · 08/08/2025 14:47

Give over. Labour didn't even know what a woman was until the SC forced them.

It's not just the far right who are worried about some of the men who are arriving here, and the cultural norms they are bringing with them. And no, it's not about skin colour.

Don't be ridiculous. The trans takeover happened under the Tories and was inherited by Labour. You're suggesting that a load of racists with histories of domestic abuse care about women's safety? Now who's naive?

MiloMinderbinder925 · 08/08/2025 14:43

So you're sympathetic to the far right? You understand that they're racists and will use any argument in order to have an ethnostate? They want mass remigration and are manipulating people into turning against asylum seekers and Muslim men by labelling them all as rapists and paedophiles.

You're sympathetic to them trying to break into hotels to attack people? You're sympathetic to them stirring up hatred and division in local communities and making people feel unsafe?

This is completely overwrought straw man stuff. You will not win the argument with this hyperbole.

Frankly this is exactly the sort of gaslighting guff that people are totally sick of hearing.
