What are you doing, where and age ish?

Feeling very down and lost and wondering what others are up to.

I’m mid 40’s, in the Algarve, sat in the garden, it’s very peaceful. Dh doing story in bed with Dd, he’ll fall asleep, i’ll go in in a bit and watch some tele. All around me is so beautiful, lifestyle amazing, from the outside it looks incredible…

How about you?

  1. Derbyshire. Been lying on the sofa talking to chatgpt about a work issue. Was surprisingly insightful. I'm alone and have been all day.

Early 40s. Partner has popped to his friends house to do some boxing.

I'm sat at home, music on, drinking one of his beers and playing Fall Guys on the PlayStation. Bliss! 😅

Do you have kids?

I'm in bed in a Premier Inn in Hitchin!!! We are attending a family wedding nearby tomorrow. It took over 3 hours to get here in awful traffic, so we've had dinner at Zizzi and now I am shattered. DH and DS (13) are watching QI. Rock n' roll! Wishing I was in The Algarve. We love it there. Enjoy, OP x

swampwitch0 · 01/08/2025 21:42

52, Derbyshire.
Watching tv after doing the ironing.
Dh out with a friend, dd1 at cinema with a friend, dd2 upstairs working on an embroidery.
It's been a rough few months, and we've all been under a lot of stress, but we are just back from a lovely holiday - can't wait to go again.
I'm looking forward to the autumn, colder weather, and crumble 🥧

31, just put my 7mo to bed (late bedtime today as my sister came to visit!), going downstairs to put some stuff on Vinted in a minute.

Feeling very happy because he crawled about 3 inches for the first time ever today Smile now questioning whether I want to put the stuff on Vinted or if I want to keep it in case we change our minds about not having a second…Blush

In my 40s, sat on the sofa in South west England drinking a McDonald’s banana milkshake having picked up dd3 from a show she’s performed in. Dd2 is playing Mario kart with dh (dd2&3 are 14) and dd1 is in her room (17). Currently at the teenager taxi phase of life.

35 sitting in my woman cave watching netflix

Just redecorated it, can afford to now my new job is taking off big time

Shopping for new patio and kitchen floor before we get rid of this starter home after 5 years and move to something a little nicer

Dh of three years downstairs gaming with our good friend after a dinner of homemade peking duck. Hes working hard

Tomorrow we are off to a bbq to see friends

It's going to be a mad autumn and winter of work so we have booked a holiday for next year and will enjoy saving some spends for it whilst killing it at work.

Chunky cat has just arrived home and is meaowing for snacks.

Life is good.

61, at home in Lancashire. Just been in the back garden playing with our overgrown puppy before she settles for the night.
I should be trying to read, but I have very high anxiety at the moment and finding it difficult to concentrate. I might put my pyjamas on and just settle myself on the sofa with a mug of tea.

A mug of tea comfy pjs and hang around mumsnet that will help.
Sounds cosy as well.💐Hope your anxiety comes down its awful i have the same but its just thoughts silly stupid thoughts that like to play with us.

Dangermoo · 01/08/2025 21:29

54, lying in bed, doomscrolling. Have had a nice easy day, as I've just moved house and I'm absolutely shattered.

limescale · 01/08/2025 21:29

Having a flop on sofa before clearing dinner and house (general tidy).
DS1 in his room watching Churchill documentary.
I need to apply for jobs but I’m worn out with it so am trying to give myself an evening off.

Will have an orange and some cantaloupe while rewatching Maid later.
I am v tired, not sleeping well due to redundancy concerns.

Anonomoso · 01/08/2025 21:23

Just finished putting everytback after having clean the fridge....should really start the ironing but that can wait.

Will have a quick look on Rightmove to see if my dream home has appeared since I last looked, yesterday, then off to shower and lay in bed pondering on my day.

YetanotherNC25 · 01/08/2025 21:23

Mid 40’s sitting in my living room in peace watching a rather good new series. Wondering how much longer DD will be in the shower after coming back from being at her dad’s for a week, where hygiene is apparently optional. We’ve had a lovely curry and I’m enjoying my favourite beer in a branded glass.

Lizzy7596 · 01/08/2025 21:17

Sitting at home with a bottle Rose wine watching 80s music on YouTube .
Husband in kitchen making us some chicken wraps.

abracadabra1980 · 01/08/2025 21:16

Sitting in my bed eating an Ambrosia custard pot and scrolling. Tomorrow at 8am I’m off to a music festival in my campervan - all cleaned and the bed freshly made up. Test run for a trip to France next year. Ddogs snoring. Mid 50’s

I'm sorry OP.

My DD is also unwell - all started about 8 months ago. I wish I could tell you it gets better but I'm still in the same place as you and hoping that as well!

So sorry you are in a similar place 😔 really hoping she improves

At home watching Gold season 2 wondering if my DH could possibly eat his crisps any louder. Can see the garden spade out of the corner of my eye, just googled how long it would take to dig a man size hole. Wish I was in the Algarve.

That’s sweet, how old is Dd?

My Dd has been v ill for around 14 months, it’s been traumatic and I feel just like a shell, just surviving..I can’t see or feel anything good around me, it’s odd, I used to be happy, maybe it will come back.

I am sorry your daughter has been unwell, it's a difficult time for you 💐

drspouse · 01/08/2025 21:12

I'm in my 50s, we're on holiday in Northern France and went out for a buffet meal tonight so we are all stuffed. We're watching The Assassin and have just sent the DCs to bed, they are teen/preteen. I think they were exhausted swimming in the sea today because they have gone, though DS has epilepsy and he had a fit an hour ago (brief one) so that's probably making him tired too.

At home, just finished clearing up, going to watch TV in bed with DD. Looking forward to reading in bed.

I know it's a snapshot, but your life as you've presented it doesn't sound too awful. What's making you feel like this?

Mid 40s blues sounds not unusual. It does sound like you have a lovely life most would envy, but presumably you feel something is missing? I'm late 50s, just finished watching a TV show, and doing some catching up with Duolingo and emails. I have a very good life, but often feel blue. I know I'm better with no alcohol, taking regular vitamins, and more fresh air and exercise than I normally get though.

Createausername1970 · 01/08/2025 21:08

I am sitting in lounge. Patio door open. Ghosts just finished on telly. Just tidied kitchen and put dishwasher on.

DH gone out source fruit cake and I will make a cuppa when the hunter-gatherer returns with his catch.

I am 63 and live in South of England.
