I am curious if anybody here has seen any of these things , such as UFO or a ghost or what can be known as “fae”? I have once seen lights in the sky which could have been the Chinese lanterns, but I am open minded and interested in this subject

I think it's the height of arrogance to think that all the smartest people who have discovered so much about our lives, our planet and our universe are wrong about everything because you thought you saw a ghost or a fairy. It's arrogant to think you know better and that you can't be wrong or mistaken because "you know what you saw."

Exactly. We know what we've seen / heard. Give it a rest now.

I saw what I think was a UFO about ten years ago, north oxon. A normal plane was flying over my home, this us usual as we are in the Birmingham flight path. Well, following it, but what I felt as quite a bit lower and at the same speed of the plane was this blue/ turquoise oblong shaped object. Rather like a bullet. It had four long windows, two on the top and two below. I tried to call my partner who was working in the next town to get out and look but actually this thing was heading west, not East. I think I was just in a tizz.
I've only told one person as it sounds so strange. I also remember spending loads of time searching on the internet pictures of UFOs to see if someone else had seen one similar.

That's fascinating! I also have seen things in the sky that I couldn't explain. Only 3 or 4 times in my lifetime, but still, really strange things... Including strange lights in the sky, that were not aircraft or lanterns or fireworks.

@MasterBeth I don't think you're angry but I do think you're very arrogant. You think you're better than everyone on this thread and must educate us. I was a little bit like you in my younger years so I recognise the behaviour. I am diagnosed with Asperger's. I think Einstein was quite 'woo' wasn't he? As was Carl Jung. And you must agree that they were probably more intelligent than you or I.

One interesting story is that when he was the CO of a Naval Air Station Eric 'Winkle' Brown

Saw a 'UFO' grabbed a Fighter and chased it.

He of all men should know what he was looking at but didnt!

Agreed zov ..we need to hear more woo n spooky experiences 👻👻

OK I have quite a few, but am always reluctant to post about them, but here's one...

In the area my aunt used to live, she started working for a new company (in the 1980s) that had a new-ish building on some old land that had been bought for new development, after being overgrown and derelict for many years.

All was OK, but some of them noticed (after a few weeks in the building) some weird smells outside, like the smell of hair singeing, pork cooking, and the smell of fabric burning. Didn't seem to be anything about that was causing it, and no-one could see anything, or find anything.

Long story short, after several months, they looked into the history of the land the building had been built on. It turned out it used to be a witch-burning point, where a number of women had been burned at the stake several centuries earlier. 😱

Sent a chill right through me when she told me. It was 35 years ago she told me about it. I've never forgotten it! (She left the company after about a year, so I don't know how long the 'weird smells' went on for!)

I used to work on ITU and have a few stories. A nurse once came on break and asked why there were so many visitors around a patient during the quiet period (no visitors allowed) . Everyone stated there weren't any. Patient passed away shortly after.
I worked there for 8 years and there was a particular side room where patients always used to talk about a very tall man in a hat they could see. Always the same description, over an eight year period. Very unnerving being told there is a very tall man standing behiend you at 2am in the morning 😂

😱 Oooooh, that must have been scary!

Best to not engage @IAmQuiteNiceActually Smile Let's just enjoy the thread. Stop giving oxygen to the haters.

(I do agree 100% with your post though!) Grin

My mum and I both saw a ghost at the same time, we were driving along a road in the dark and came to a zebra crossing and she slammed the brakes on and we both saw what looked like a green glowing figure dragging something across the road. It was then gone in seconds, it was so weird! My mum claims to see ghosts and guardian angels regularly, I've never seen another since.

Oooooooooh! Shock Sounds like that was a bit scary.

@findmeaunicorn My sister was a nurse at a really old hospital. She has loads of ghost stories from her time there.

I bet she does! I love 'really old building' stories and experiences. Smile

Generally I don’t. You however are coming across as an extremely angry person.

Can you share some examples of why you think I'm angry? (I'm not angry.)

They’re adults. Leave them to decide

Why are you concerned that people with a different point of view are talking to you.

findmeaunicorn · 29/07/2025 19:43

No….. I always say I don’t believe in such things but have also laid awake at night and been on old wards as a nurse anytime of day and been scared stiff of seeing something - make that make sense 🤣😫

menopausalfart · 29/07/2025 19:38

@Gobacktotheworld They had burial practices and used pigment and ornaments in those. So you could say this was a sign of proto-religion.

Of course the can decide. But to make a proper decision you need information.

But the information available is wide and varied. Most of it that critically explores various phenomena remains open to possibilities and is clear that whilst for example ghosts cannot be proved, they cannot be disproved either, and there are many events that as yet cannot be satisfactorily explained.

In spiritual practices it’s very common to experience things which I assume some would say were paranormal, but in those circles it’s very normal, so much that most have had similar experiences, so as much as I could read sceptical books that would just say “no, don’t be silly”, because of very real experiences I have had that would feel as wrong to me as you would presumably feel reading a book saying “look at all this woooo, it’s all real”.

Some humans are more open to there being more to the world than we know. Some seem very closed off to that idea. It’s a pity that those closed off seem offended that some of us are happy to be open to it, are not being taken advantage of it, and have some quite magical experiences.

I believe there are studies that show that people who have faith in something (in my case it would be something spiritual but not necessarily religious) tend to be happier than those who don’t. I’m very happy with my beliefs, and would rather not be talked down to by those who don’t share them.

There’s a book called Why Woowoo Works which goes into all sorts of interesting topics and sharing research papers of evidence that these things work, even when it’s not clear why they work. It says there is evidence that telepathy is real, and goes so far as to say that those ignoring the evidence (of which there is lots) is pseudoscience because they’re not believing the recorded evidence. Materialism in science has closed off so many avenues of research. It now sits comfortably providing evidence to the biggest purse-holders.

@Morecoombe I think people should stop engaging with this poster, and any others who are here purely to flame and goad, and tell us we're all bonkers to believe in the paranormal. Or plain silly to believe such things (with links to 'sources' telling us how 'wrong' we all are. 🙄)

Don't give them any oxygen. They'll soon get bored of talking to themselves.

menopausalfart · 29/07/2025 19:15

Strange how we like to put everyone into little boxes. I'm definitely pro-science. I have a degree in Archaeology and shockingly believe that the pyramids were human-built. I also love horror and all things that go bump in the night. It's my way to escape.
