Malnourished starving children in Gaza

The photos that appeared this morning on my news updates of mothers holding their children, dying of starvation and extreme malnutrition in Gaza have absolutely broken my heart. I am not particularly news focused, of course I’ve followed it all but this morning it has stopped me in my tracks and took my breath away. As a mother of a 3yo DS who is sleeping peacefully in his bedroom, whilst we have a fridge full of food downstairs and a life of peace, I feel so sorry that those poor mothers and children are living this hell so undeserved and also so so lucky we have the peace we do…
I don’t really know what the point of my post is; I suppose I’m screaming When Will This End inside and want to tell everyone to not take the freedom and peace we have for granted; use your right to vote and use your privilege to make informed choices that steer the world away from conflict towards peace…

Sending a handhold to all the mothers’ whose lives are not being lived in peace and whose children are suffering 🕊️💔

Another virtue signalling thread.

We need more of these.

OMG, you never run out of excuses, do you?
So amidst the rubble, no condoms, with air strikes and combat around them, with 3-4-5 hungry children, and being hungry themselves, the parents are making more babies because they need intimacy! Oooh! It makes complete sense.

Your posts nauseate me.

I imagine that it's difficult to find condoms under the rubble. You may see Palestinians as animals, responsible for their slaughter and starvation, but they're human beings and human beings need intimacy, especially during times of crisis.

I was watching a news report the other day and they were talking to a pregnant woman....she said she was having a baby girl. I was wondering if they were still having scans during pregnancy in Gaza? I'm not trying to make any point at all her by the way...I was just interested in how she knew the sex of her baby

It’s also pretty well documented that birth rates increase in times of high infant mortality.

The children in those photos have malnutrition. But they're not from Gaza.

Beware the loony conspiracy theorists 🙄

So you don't believe that any of the children in Gaza are starving?

Are you actually saying that every single photo of starving children shown on the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Sky News, the Guardian, the Times and even the Daily Express are from other countries and other conflicts?

You are a conspiracy theorist and should be ignored.

Doctors without Borders are lying, aid agencies lying, reporters lying, do you believe they are all secret hamas supporters?

The men in media reports with their bowls out at food stations look like holocaust victims to me.

Is reputable news stations using false pictures too?

Radioundermypillow · 31/07/2025 13:15

"Reuters has reported on the desperate situation in Gaza.
In a makeshift tent on a Gazan beach, three-month-old Muntaha’s grandmother grinds up chickpeas into the tiniest granules she can to form a paste to feed the infant, knowing it will cause her to cry in pain, in a desperate race to keep the baby from starving.
“If the baby could speak, she would scream at us, asking what we are putting into her stomach,” her aunt, Abir Hamouda said.
Muntaha grimaced and squirmed as her grandmother fed her the paste with a syringe.
Muntaha’s family is one of many in Gaza facing dire choices to try to feed babies, especially those below the age of six months who cannot process solid food.
Infant formula is scarce after a plummet in aid access to Gaza. Many women cannot breastfeed due to malnourishment, while other babies are separated from their mothers due to displacement, injury or, in Muntaha’s case, death."

You're a dietitian and you don't think that children in Gaza are starving to death?

I hope you don't work for the NHS as I would hate to think that taxpayers are paying your wages.

You do know that the "news" is biased? Look at the numbers of retractions so many outlets have quietly made.

Depends what news you watch, but therr are lots of ways to fact check. Denying reality though because you "don't trust the news" isn't really an excuse.

Radioundermypillow · 31/07/2025 12:40

Dietician!

Yes I am aware. I have been a dietitian for 25 years +. Believe me they show none of the obvious signs of malnutrition.

Of course you’ll find 1-2 far-right lunatics in every country! You are clutching at straws here!

The issue is that the far-right lunatics are in the Israeli Government and dictating policy. Netanyahu needs these people to stay in power and stay out of jail.

Hamiltonfan · 31/07/2025 12:14

LuckyHare · 30/07/2025 20:24

Couldn't agree more 😢

If Israel wanted to wipe out the Palestinians they would have done so on October 8th. The Palestinian population is higher now than ever. If Hamas didn't hide amongst it's civilians there would have been far far fewer deaths so this is on them. This is a war started by Hamas and unfortunately civilians die in a war.

Hamas could choose to end the war tomorrow but whilst they are winning the PR war with their fake videos that the West continue to lap up without questioning, they aren't going to stop the war. The Arab world has them sussed. It's just beyond parody that the West falls for their lies.

Israel will win this war, but has totally lost the PR war through not informing until facts have been checked - which is usually days after Hamas have leaked their propaganda to the West and the western media has published it.

Are you suggesting that the parents are starving the DC for the media?
Despite records of aid trucks been stopped for weeks and food rationed by the IDF.
These barbarian excuses for reducing aid are no longer justified.
The restrictions on reporting cannot contain the horror anymore.

Hamiltonfan · 31/07/2025 12:09

raffegiraffe · 30/07/2025 22:08

You do know that fat people can still starve? It's not all about calories. It's also vitamins, minerals and protein that you don't get from broken down fat deposits. Even a morbidly obese person would starve to death if they didn't eat.
There are some absolutely disgusting opinions on this thread. I can't see how anyone can think this situation is ok. Israel are completely to blame. Saying it's fake because the parents aren't stick thin is a moronic thing to say

I haven't read the whole thread to preserve my mental health, so this may have already been mentioned..........in the last few days it has come out that two of the main pictures used were of children who had other serious medical conditions affecting food absorption. Osama al-Rakab was already evacuated by Israel in June and is now in hospital in Italy receiving the treatment he needs.

And the NY Times have quietly amended their articles to admit that Mohammed Zakaria al-Mutawaq, has a preexisting medical condition that impacts his appearance.

In the meantime however those images have gone around the world to cause hate.

And this happens every bloody time, a story comes out, everyone jumps to blame Israel, and a few days later it turns out that it wasn't the case after all, but the news has moved in and the damage is fine, which was the intention at the outset.

I have no doubt that there is hunger and the aid distribution blockages have to be resolved - containers of food have meanwhile gone off and been destroyed while the UN argued about not getting involved with GHF. Hopefully the airdrops that have started will help.

But it doesn't serve the people of Gaza to cry wolf. It just makes it hard to know what is truth and easy to dismiss things as 'just another fabrication to smear Israel and the Jews'.
Meanwhile Gazan's who protest against Hamas are being tortured and murdered by Hamas, there are plenty of reports of that but nobody complains about that!
Likewise with the Druze in Syria, those poor people are being massacred, and women and children kidnapped, and there is no outrage on Mumsnet because Israel can't be blamed (until they bomb to protect the Druze and then there are complaints).

Edited

This. Every single word of it.

As you are asking for proof, please can you provide us with 3 seperate sources that confirm that there is no starvation/famine in Gaza? And let’s add another couple of sources that UN run schools are indoctrinating children. Just to make sure we aren’t straying too far from the facts.

So that's no?

Absolutely nothing, and their deaths are a tragedy. But the children of Gaza didn’t commit those crimes, and yet they’re being punished for it.

Your next argument will be “but Hamas!”. In the meantime, children on both sides are murdered, or radicalised, so that in another few years, all this repeats again.

The deaths of the Bibas children were not a tragedy - they were murder, a crime!
