Malnourished starving children in Gaza

The photos that appeared this morning on my news updates of mothers holding their children, dying of starvation and extreme malnutrition in Gaza have absolutely broken my heart. I am not particularly news focused, of course I’ve followed it all but this morning it has stopped me in my tracks and took my breath away. As a mother of a 3yo DS who is sleeping peacefully in his bedroom, whilst we have a fridge full of food downstairs and a life of peace, I feel so sorry that those poor mothers and children are living this hell so undeserved and also so so lucky we have the peace we do…
I don’t really know what the point of my post is; I suppose I’m screaming When Will This End inside and want to tell everyone to not take the freedom and peace we have for granted; use your right to vote and use your privilege to make informed choices that steer the world away from conflict towards peace…

Sending a handhold to all the mothers’ whose lives are not being lived in peace and whose children are suffering 🕊️💔

There are pallets and pallets of food in Gaza. Hamas and the UN refuse to distribute. x.com/LizaRosen0000/status/1948021994860986445?t=EXROf0yB3d1PkdpC8KwWtQ&s=19

So it’s the UN that is starving Gaza’s children then?

I don't think most people are putting forward a goodies versus baddies narrative actually.

Everyone knows Hamas are evil. That's why they are a banned terrorist organisation.

But we are talking about the Israeli government not allowing enough food into Gaza, causing children to go hungry.

Arguing that the Israeli government's actions are ok because terrorist organistions like Hamas behave in an even more apalling way is not the winning argument you think it is

Some absolutely damming statistics and evidence from the guardian this morning; claiming Israel has deliberately calculated the famine over several months.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/jul/31/the-mathematics-of-starvation-how-israel-caused-a-famine-in-gaza

Good to see this week at last some pressure mounting in the US on Trump to take a stronger stance… I hope there is some action soon.. it will be too late for many but this must end.

Where do you think the Guardian gets these statistics from?

Does anyone really believe that if it was the Jewish community that was dispossessed (rather than Palestinians), it would just lie down in a corner like a wounded dog? It wouldn’t fight back? Every community has more militant and extremist sections, so for sure, some in the Jewish community would resort to violence if they had lost their land and homes in the way Palestinians did. We would probably have exactly the same conflict but with the party in power and the party being controlled swapped.

No because Israelis are taught to fear Palestinians, not hate them. That's the difference. Palestinians are taught from birth that the most important thing they can ever do is martyr themselves killing Jews.

The war is against Hamas though not the whole Gazan population. They escalated the conflict on 7/10 and committed terrible acts against innocent people. Normal Gazans, especially all of the children, are not to blame for those acts. That’s what people have an issue with. Critical thinking has led me to believe that the Israeli government doesn’t care about innocent civilians in its pursuit of Hamas which can only help Hamas recruit new members and prolong the war.

This. The Israel government is the best recruiting sergeant Hamas could possibly have.

Then don’t start a massacre on innocent people of your neighbouring country!

I cannot continue engaging with posters who have absolutely no concept of critical thinking.
Wars are horrible horrible things but sometimes absolutely necessary.

if my country was attacked in the way that Israel was then I would want my national army to retaliate and win! You cannot and will never be able to negotiate with terrorists and they need to be wiped out.
if you think differently then quite frankly the media machine has indoctrinated you also.

No babies should be suffering on either side - that's the only moral narrative.

What about the Irgun, a Zionist paramilitary organisation operating between 1931 and 1948? This organisation committed acts of terrorism against Palestinian Arabs, as well as against the British authorities, who were regarded as illegal occupiers. In particular the Irgun was described as a terrorist organisation by the United Nations, British, and United States governments. They blew up public places too.

And killed people. And the leader of the Irgun, Menachem Begin, later became Prime Minister of Israel. Then there was the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin and the Cave of the Patriarchs massacre both carried out by Jewish extremists. But it’s only Hamas terrorism and violence that counts apparently.

Plus the actions of settlers in the West Bank, terrorising the Palestinian people in an effort to get them to leave so they can seize their land.

I totally agree - those poor Palestinian children.

Hamas have done horrendous things but the Israeli government is not the good guy.

Where is Joe Biden’s fury about decapitated Palestinian babies? | Arwa Mahdawi

Politicians parroted untrue rumors that Hamas had beheaded Israeli babies. When the children are Palestinian, they shrug

Do you have actual evidence that these beheadings occurred that you can link to? A n internet search indicates that this was an assertion that has never actually been corroborated. Even the Israeli government has not categorically stated it happened, although it did nothing to prevent the assertion being repeated.

Thread immediately infested with genocide deniers, well versed in deflect, deny, distract tactics whenever anyone tried to call them out on their crazy. You're on the wrong side of history and I hope it hurts when the penny finally drops.

I posted that earlier. It's pointless. There are posters on here who are acting like bots, trying to flood the site with misinformation. Don't engage with them.

They remind me of Holocaust deniers and are just as abhorrent.

So you can't even muster any sympathy for dead, maimed and starving children? Do you find them scary and frightening?

Your dehumanising descriptions of all Palestinians, not just Hamas, is similar to the dehumanising language used about Jews in Nazi Germany in the 1930s. My Jewish family welcomed an Austrian Jewish child who came to England on the Kindertransport. He stayed in the UK after the war. He spoke about how things changed with the election of Hitler, how the Jewish children were segregated at school and eventually not allowed to go to school at all. They were attacked in the street and the other children were told not to play with them. We all know what this hatred led to.

Yours are the sort of feelings that most people would keep to themselves, but you seem proud of them. Your scepticism and denial of the atrocities being committed by the IDF in Gaza remind me of the abhorrent views and theories spouted by Holocaust deniers.

The mathematics of starvation: how Israel caused a famine in Gaza

Israel controls the flow of food into Gaza. It has calculated how many calories Palestinians need to stay alive. Its data shows only a fraction has been allowed in
