Malnourished starving children in Gaza

The photos that appeared this morning on my news updates of mothers holding their children, dying of starvation and extreme malnutrition in Gaza have absolutely broken my heart. I am not particularly news focused, of course I’ve followed it all but this morning it has stopped me in my tracks and took my breath away. As a mother of a 3yo DS who is sleeping peacefully in his bedroom, whilst we have a fridge full of food downstairs and a life of peace, I feel so sorry that those poor mothers and children are living this hell so undeserved and also so so lucky we have the peace we do…
I don’t really know what the point of my post is; I suppose I’m screaming When Will This End inside and want to tell everyone to not take the freedom and peace we have for granted; use your right to vote and use your privilege to make informed choices that steer the world away from conflict towards peace…

Sending a handhold to all the mothers’ whose lives are not being lived in peace and whose children are suffering 🕊️💔

But it isn’t just one photo of one child that is being circulated as proof of the issue is it? There are photos of other children, accounts from charities, hospital workers and NGOs, plus admission from Israel that ‘aid corridors’ must be opened.

It is a real low point, I feel, that people are looking at victims in a war zone and judging whether they look thin enough to pity. Would you like their before and after weight listed below the image too, just to check?

If you look at images of Gaza before the war v now, read independent accounts of what is happening in hospitals there, read NGO reports or news articles, it is unbelievable that you can still shrug it off as some sort of propaganda campaign. This is how war crimes are going to continue to be committed.

Re your aid comments, please provide sources for this version of events. Because my sources point to Israel’s army killing aid workers. Any independent, trustworthy sources will do. Happy to provide sources if that would help.

👏

I'm honestly sick to death of the words "but Hamas!"
The world knows this is all Israel's fault, the world knows that Israel lies, the world knows that most Israelis don't see Palestinians as human and the 'settlers' are state sanctioned thugs
So shut up about Hamas
It isn't Hamas forcibly starving babies women and men- it is all Israel and it is disgusting.

Well they are having a good go at it and the hardliners in the Israeli government make no qualms about it . If they get their way I’m not sure what the future will be for Isreal.

I agree. Israel is already weakened. The IDF can no longer claim to be the "most moral army in the world".🙄

Netanyahu's response to the 7/10 attack has exceeded Hamas hopes and expectations. Him and his hatefilled, far right government need to go for the sake of both Gaza and Israel as well as the West Bank and the whole ME.

The food is actually sitting inside Gaza but the problem seems to be in distributing it...people are desperate and start looting, it's not safe for lorry drivers to drive it in, Hamas attacks people trying to get aid and if anyone gets shot in the violent chaos Israel get blamed, so they want the UN to take responsibility for getting it to distribution centres but the UN are refusing.

Hamas are obstructing everything because they want to deliver it but then they steal it and sell it at high prices.

There are plenty of videos from inside Gaza of people clearly stating that Hamas are fully responsible for their misery.

It's very complex and the situation is catastrophic.

Having said that, there has been so much use of AI imaging and pictures from other conflicts and attributed to being pics from Gaza, that it's hard to know what is and isn't truth. Plus all the previous times we were told there was famine, and there wasn't, and even the UN finally admitted there wasn't. When the hostages were released every single man (not many women were out) in the Gazan crowds looked very well fed, clean and with fresh haircuts - and that was after we were previously told there was famine.

I hope it all ends soon.

Meanwhile I will wait for this thread to go down the inevitable route....

Shame on you.

What genocide? There are 2 million Palestinians inside Gaza. Do you really think that Israel would blatantly starve all of them to death in front of the whole world and earn their condemnation?
I know you will say yes to that question.

It’s happening now. Thank providence the world is finally waking up to it.

When the Genocide is complete there won’t be anyone to negotiate with. A neat solution for Israel’s battle over Palestinian territory.

If Israel's aim was to overthrow Hamas and help Palestinians to create a new, legitimate government, and to rebuild Gaza and invest money in the region, the Western world would be behind them. But it's pretty clear that their ultimate aim is what it has been all along, to obliterate Palestine and the Palestinian people and claim Gaza for themselves. And that is ethnic cleansing and genocide.

PunctuateTheGarden · 29/07/2025 08:15

Featherruffler · 29/07/2025 07:31

Yes, time for a change, and guess who the change is up to?
Hamas could end all this in a minute. Release the hostages, then sit down and negotiate with Israel. But they don’t have the negotiating skills or the necessary intelligence to do it.

Look no one here likes Hamas. They are a terrorist organisation. No one expects them to behave any better. So no they won't change, certainly not in the short term, and no one including you seriously expects them too.

So therefore it is up to the Israeli government (an actual government and not a terrorism group) to take responsibility for ensuring the welfare of civilians in Gaza.

It is their legal and moral responsibility.

Israel is committing genocide according to the UN, Amnesty, HRW, B'Tselem and Physicians for Human Rights Israel, as well as multipleeading scholars.

Israel is an apartheid state long before Oct. 7th according to the ICJ, UN, Amnesty, HRW, etc etc

Long before Oct 7th Israel kidnapped and abused Palestinian children to a tune of 500-700 per year, as per Save the Children (2019 report), UNICEF (2013 report), Amnesty, B'Tselem.

Before Oct. 7th NGOs were warning about the rampant indiscriminate killing of Palestinian children by Israeli army (32 Jan-Sept 2023, 34 Jan - Dec 2022. Save the Children). 39 Israeli children were unforgivably killed Oct. 7th, a UN investigation and survivor testimony shows at least 7 of those were killed by indiscriminate Israeli military fire

Israel is deliberately starving the people of Gaza according to the UN, Oxfam and 98 other NGOs.

I really don't need to. Your complete lack of historical knowledge and your inability to post any credible sources or references to back your statements is doing all the work for me. Pray do continue.

Israel is committing genocide in Gaza and manufacturing mass starvation, according to all the serious NGOs with any connection or experience. The same NGOs used by the BBC to criticise Russia or Iran or North Korea or any other despotic tyrannical regime. The writing is absolutely on the wall. Time for a change.

The other countries that were created in the 20th century did not involve mass killing and forced displacement of 3/4 of the indigenous people living on that land, to make way for foreigners from Europe who wanted to establish a theocracy based on the superiority of one religion.

Modern terrorism in the Middle East started with the Jewish militias' campaign against the British. They bombed the King David hotel, kidnapped British soldiers hanged them from trees and booby trapped their dead bodies to maim the rescuers (Sergeants affair), and hid weapons and fighters in schools, clinics and synagogues (Prof. Neve Gordon, "On Human Shields".) there are blue plaques in Israel commemorating this. Churchill convened an emergency cabinet meeting to discuss the "problem of terrorism in Palestine" - he was talking about the Jewish militias Lethi, the Haganah, and the Irgun. The late Queen didn't let Israelis into the palace because she still viewed them as terrorists.
An Israeli assassinated Shimon Peres, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, because he offered real terms for a state to the Palestinians. No Israeli leader has dared do that since.
An Israeli went into a mosque and opened a machine gun firing indiscriminately from behind at rows of men and boys kneeling in prayer.

Your ignorance is showing.

Nice try.
Try harder.

Because emotions will lead you nowhere in the world of politics, especially when it comes to wars and conflicts. You can’t base political decisions purely on emotions. If you act emotional all the time in the world of politics, you might create more chaos and problems than you started with in the first place.
The Palestinian people brought certain decisions in the past and I’m afraid now they are reaping the consequences of those decisions. Voting for the wrong leaders, throwing back every offer of a peaceful co-existence back into Israel’s face, terrorist acts etc…
They (and many other Muslim countries) don’t want to acknowledge Israel’s legitimacy ever since it was created. But if you think about it, many countries in the Middle East were also created in the first half of then 20th century, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria et al. So then based on the same principle, they shouldn’t have legitimacy either.
Btw, show me another group of people who want to solve their problems with acts of terrorism. Putting on a suicide west and blowing themselves up, flying planes into buildings, driving into crowds, going into kindergarten and stabbing the children, terrorising music festivals etc..

I don't understand the boasts about having a non-emotional debate - how can you be human and discuss the deaths of thousands of people and not be emotional about it. The genocide deniers on this thread are a disgrace to humanity, let's hope the world leader catch up soon. Kier Starmner has lost my vote- his lack of moral leadership on this issue is shameful.
