To think there are very few allies against Anti-Semitism?

Longingdreamer · 24/07/2025 14:04

This month, I have had experienced Anti-Semitism twice. Both times I was with my children.

Both times, my children were distressed, and no one around did anything to protect us or raise the alarm. When we asked for help, we were dismissed. We were in very busy public spaces both times: a tube platform, then a high street.

I reported the first episode to the police. I'm not even sure if it's worth reporting the second episode. Sadly it feels so mainstream, and the authorities are not supportive when I report it either.

It's not at all disingenuous. You are being disingenuous ignoring my concerns, making false equivalences, and trying to detail the thread.

The point is that the hate marches are impossible to avoid in London, as they are everywhere and so frequent. The edl marches are not.

We could equally ask you if you have seen people throwing petrol bombs and weapons at businesses? I know of a Muslim family whose shop was destroyed and they moved out of the country after last year's race riots.

It is getting frustrating with you trying to prove that anti-semitism is the worst kind of "ism". We all acknowledge that it exists. We all think it is awful. Let's go from there. No need to make your case by saying that Jewish people face the worst discrimination in the history of the world. What is the point in that? Do you want us to ban the anti-Palestine protests? I for one don't want that to happen. We have a right to condemn what the Israeli government is doing. Do I condone the presence of Nazi flags and racist chants? Of course not.

Yes, I think you are in danger. In fact we all are. The longer the onslaught on Gaza goes on, the more we are creating a terrorist threat now and for generations to come.

People are pushing back reminding you of what other groups deal with because you make it clear that you don’t think any other group experiences anywhere near the racism that Jews do which just isn’t true

I disagree. I think that in London in 2025, anti-Jewish racism is more likely to lead to violence and assault than any other type of racism.
This isnt micro-aggressions, it's convoys driving through Jewish areas threatening the rape of their daughters over loudspeakers. It's security guards outside schools.

Do you have any links to reposts if these convoys?

‘I’ve not seen people accuse other groups of lying’

well that’s clearly nonsense. Have a read about Jess Carter and the racial abuse she suffered and then look at the literally 1000s of racist comments accusing her of ‘playing the race card’ or lying or saying THEY hadn’t seen any racism.
victims of homophobia, racism etc are
frequently accused of lying.

Yeah I posted on here about my step daughter, who is mixed race with a Sri Lankan dad, being the victim of a racially based assault in the aftermath of the Southport attacked. She was physically injured and was traumatised. She is still under CAMHS and self harming, school attendance down because she's scared. She was kicked, punched, dragged by her hair and spat on, called a p*ki and told to fuck off home by a group of teenage girls whose mums stood and laughed. She obsessively scrubs her skin where she was spat on and has cut all her hair off (herself, on a whim) where she was dragged by it.

Many of those (including some of the pro Israel posters on this thread) accused me of making it up to diminish the anti semitism that people have seen and attempt to give weight to point I was making.

The same posters who turn themselves inside out to try and justify the unjustifiable.

I am sure anti semitism is on the rise, I think racism generally is. But the attempt by some people to label anti Israel protest as anti-Semitism undermines actual cases of antisemitism.

People claiming ridiculous things like the poster hinting that there are swastikas at marches for an end to ethnic cleansing and genocide in Gaza, make things worse too. It's like the boy who cried wolf.

Care to share a link to these swastika parades?

If you just google it you'll see plenty of images. The one I've seen is like the last poster - a swastika merged with a Jewish star. Saw one where there was a swastika on an Israeli flag instead of the star too. The graffiti near my work has 'Jews =' and a swastika. So it happens and it's terrifying to see.

I've seen swastikas on marches...often they merge the swastika with the Star of David or have some slogan such as 'the irony of becoming the thing you once hated' or other such shite. I have no idea how to post links but a quick online search will show you.

I dislike all extreme politics....I think what really grates on me about anti semetism is that they bang on about the situation in the middle east and use that as a vehicle to express their hatred but they frame it as they're just so compassionate, they just hate babies dying, they're just against genocide, they're fundamentally kinder...what do you mean anti semetism? I just care about starving people...why are you weaponising anti semetism? The gaslighting is off the chart and designed to make us look hysterical.

Now don't get me wrong I loathe the far right...but I do find the left particularly odious in how they don't have the courage to own their hatred.

Do you really find it that hard to believe that people's distress and babies starving and people being shot whilst waiting for aid is fake? Who the hell doesn't feel distress and anger seeing those images.
What kind of warped thinking do you have to have to be of the opinion that if the perpetrators were a different religion/nationality it would be acceptable.
One of the most basic tenants of being 'left' is to oppose discrimination of all types.
You are turning yourself inside out to paint those opposed to genocides as the bad guys. The anti-Semitism gaslighting over opposing genocide doesn't work anymore.

I am increasingly worried at the direction things are going.

It started off as “I am criticising the Israeli government not Jews” but it’s shifted to “well that specific incidence of antisemitism was wrong because they’re Jews but they’re not Israelis” as if Israeli citizens would deserve it.

When you call this out, people quote polls stating that Israelis support “what is happening”. When you look into it, a lot of polls are being quoted are taken out of context, misquoted, mistranslated etc. Even leaving the reliability of the polls aside, I find it a very strange argument for pro-Palestinian people to make given the polls showing support for Hamas in Gaza after October 7th.

Then they say “well that’s because they’re oppressed so it’s understandable” without a hint of irony considering Jewish history.

Then they’ll mention settlers and settler violence. I don’t support settlers at all. You can say the government hasn’t done enough and even argue they’ve encouraged it - but some civilians doing bad things doesn’t mean everyone who lives in a country is responsible. Just like how lots of Palestinian civilians took part in the October 7th attacks. It doesn’t mean then everyone is responsible right?

The oppressor vs oppressed narrative is so cemented that most people cannot see Israel as anything other than rich white evil colonisers rubbing their hands together with glee. This isn’t helped by the number of TikTok historians around who have really no clue about the history of it all.

When people say that they are criticising the Israeli government, often they’re not saying “a proportionate response would have looked like x” or “they should have done X to allow aid in” or “I believe war crimes have been committed” or “I don’t believe Netenyahu wants the war to end” or even “I think Netanyahu is a massive psychopath”.

It is that often they’re saying that Israel is uniquely evil (both the government and everyone living there), that Israel should not exist, that if Iran did wipe them out they’d deserve it. They deny atrocities that took place on October 7th including those literally captured on video. They see any concern for the hostages as not caring about Gaza and accuse you of seeing Gazans as lesser humans. They often are unwilling to acknowledge or condemn even the brutal murder of the Bibas family nor the horrific parades that took place handing the hostages or the bodies back.

I have seen online communities banning people for pointing out during the “14000 dead babies” fiasco that the claim was untrue AFTER it had been retracted. I mean if anything - surely there’s enough truth out there that warrants outrage without needing to spread misinformation on purpose.

It’s not criticising the Israeli government’s actions that I have an issue with. It’s the extreme hatred of Israel’s existence that is very frightening.

And so now we have gone from the issue being “Israeli government” to “Zionists” to “Israelis” and now it’s already shifting and I increasingly just see “Jews”. This has already started being justified - as I predicted it would - with the claim that because most Jews are Zionists it’s ok to say it.

I do think that people are not understanding how tiring it is day to day when most Jews are politically homeless and the mainstream position is increasingly that Jews must prove they are the good kind of Jew by publicly and unequivocally denouncing Israel.

There is this whole side on the left who claims to believe in inclusivity - in believing a minority group when they tell you what is offensive. In allowing everyone to be themselves no matter what. Allowing people to define their own identity and culture. In embracing and celebrating diversity. It’s become increasingly apparent that they mean “everyone except Jews”.

These same people are the people who I see disbelieving accounts of hate crimes. They unfriend me when I post a story on social media about a European child being the victim of an antisemitic attack. They see no issue with Edinburgh Fringe stopping Jews from performing.

These are the people who go quiet when they find out a colleague is Jewish. They would refuse to do a business meeting with an Israeli company - something they would not refuse from anywhere else in the world. They’re people who - on cultural diversity day - would not allow an Israeli flag to be hung.

These are the people who say things out loud like “ a lot of Jews think they’re better than everyone” - something they would literally not say about any other minority. There is this massive hypocritical gap there in which their values apply to everyone except for Jews. And I mean to the extreme that I have seen my lefty friends chastise someone for stating that breeding kinks are a bit weird because - and I quote - “kink shaming isn’t cool”.

Of course it’s not everyone. Of course a lot of people really are just criticising the Israeli government and are desperately sad about the plight of Palestinians and want them to have their own state. It’s very likely that our positions are not actually that far apart, but I support Israel’s continued existence and do not buy into the black and white one sided narrative being pushed.

I find it interesting how often people say “well you have to look at it with context and understand the history of insert black people/Palestinians/trans people etc. and what they have been through to understand why they might feel that way. We need to listen to authentic voices and encourage representation.” Yet somehow within this narrative, Jews are NEVER the underdog or the persecuted or even a valid minority. They are never included in lists of minority groups who are treated badly.

Bravo 👏

Given you previously started a thread that said that you believed the UK is now like 1930s Nazi Germany I think you are goading and trying to provoke a reaction by your threads.
People are pushing back reminding you of what other groups deal with because you make it clear that you don’t think any other group experiences anywhere near the racism that Jews do which just isn’t true and it’s clear that you won’t be satisfied until people say that you have it worse than anyone else. And that nobody cares about anything other than the Israel/palestine conflict when just three years ago people were hugely engaged with the Ukraine conflict, even opening their homes up to refugees. If you could show some evidence of these swastika marches that are taking place on a weekly basis in London, it would help.

If you look at the Campaign Against Anti-Semitism, they have multiple photos.

As for the rest of your post, you just seem very hateful, what other thread?

I have never once said other groups don't experience racism. I have said that a race to the bottom isn't helpful for anyone.

No, I haven't been to any EDL marches. I haven't accidentally come across them either, despite being regularly out and about in London.

I have however come across the weekly marches in central London, and other marches, including in my local area. They openly hold banners with swastikas and Anti-semitic slogans, and the police do not challenge this. They are regular and impossible to avoid, and designed to intimidate and promote hatred.

I apologise if there was a misunderstanding, however there does seem to be a constant theme of demeaning the racism suffered by Jews by claiming that other groups' suffering is more important. I have already said it shouldn't be a race to the bottom.

I certainly didn’t mean to imply others have it worse. I only meant that the EDL marches are quite infamous now, so most people are aware of them.

Voxon said that no other groups are racially abused by crowds.

I pointed out that the EDL organised marches, which have taken place throughout the country, have been reported by press as featuring chanting such as ‘Muslims out’ and ‘Pakis out’.

My post wasn’t even directed to you, it was directed to Voxon, so no idea why you think it’s aimed at you? And how is it a false equivalence?

I don’t want to derail the thread, but that doesn’t mean that people shouldn't be be corrected on inaccuracies.

I agree with you mostly, but would also say that black people are also raped and murdered for being black in the UK. We don't get told about every single murder and rape in the land. Only a few select crimes make the news. There is absolutely no point in trying to say that one group suffers more than another.

I do get however that anti-semitism might seem invisible or to go under the radar, but I never understand why comparing it to the way that we deal with other kinds of racism is helpful. Anti-black racism has been made so visible because of the efforts of black people, not because people prefer to campaign for anti-black racism over anti-semitism.

We know that a large number of young girls have been raped for being white, in the UK.

Does that affect the effect of antisemitism?
