Maintenance Payments Ending

The spousal and child maintenance payments between me and my ex are due to end in September as per the court order. From Oct all costs of our kids will then be shared evenly between us.

My ex earns at least 3 times the amount I currently do. AIBU to ask if they will be willing to split the costs more than 50/50 in light of this, appreciating this cannot be enforced?

The fact you got spousal is unusual. How long for, and what have you done for you to increase your income.
Are you living outwith your earned means.
He's not saying he won't support his kids any more, just he's not paying for your life style any more?

I wouldn’t expect anything more than 50/50 but even that is a stretch. If your kids are old enough for CMS to be ending then they are not actually kids and he owes you £0

The big question, and main part of the info missing from your post, is how old are the kids?

If the child maintenance is ending because the kids have come of age, then whatever you spend on them going forward is what you choose to, rather then what you have to. I’m not talking morally, but legally… if he’s paid his dues thus far, and the order has ended, he doesn’t need to give you, or pay for anything.

Yabu but nobody can stop you asking your ex so all you can do is ask. Worst he can say is no. I expect he will say no though as him paying 50% of their expenses is what's reasonable. Hats off to him if he agrees though.
