There was one time that i was 9 stone. This year i am the heaviest i have ever been.

Every week for that last year i have been thinking that i must lose weight, and i have been trying every diet , and thinking about food all the time.

I was so stressed from it all that i decided to give myself and not think about dieting for one month.

I was just thinking this month, I quite emjoy being fat. Im not morbidly obese, i am fat.

I feel nice and warm and cozy

When i was thin, i rememember feeling cold and having low energy a lot.

Has anyone else felt the same?

Why odd. Some people like to have bigger boobs. Some don’t.

I didn’t say anything different to that? It seemed to be assumed that big boobs were a positive part of being overweight. I was agreeing with a poster that it wasn’t a positive for me.

Sorry didn’t mean to be bitchy, I would never ever say that IRL. It’s just something I have always assumed but turns out I’m wrong.

How is it bitchy? It’s physics. If I go in a walk with a backpack on it’s more energy sapping than without and I will be more tired. When I was getting to the top of Kilimanjaro and flagging, guides took our rucksacks off us, why did they do that- because removing weight made it less tiring.

Just read this
I see what you mean
as I say, if this is what “happy” looks like - no thanks!

Yep if one is happy about something they probably wouldn’t start a thread. What was it Shakespeare said about protesting too much.

the usual lazy responses on here - anyone expressing a different opinion must be jealous. That’s simply not correct.

But you apparently look down on small boobs. How is that any better than looking down on fat? Women need to stop the self loathing over our bodies, whether small boobs, big boobs, heavy or lean. The emphasis needs to be in health, not confirming to a beauty standard.
You're right that constantly monitoring your food intake is a miserable way to live. If your friends would work out to gain some muscle they might not have to do that as much. That's what men do when they want to lose weight and they're right. They start lifting to pack on lean body mass.

She doesn’t look down on small boobs she just likes having them

That’s interesting, I always assume overweight people feel tired and uncomfortable as they are carrying around extra weight all the time. Good for you if you feel good.

When I was fat my friend asked me if I’d had a boob job.

Lost weight and they shrank. That wasn’t too bad but they are the only part of my body with loose skin.

I lost 4 stone and my boobs didn’t budge! Weight comes off my stomach first usually
all I did was make my back size smaller and bras harder to find Angry ended up a 32JJ

ehb102 · 24/07/2025 08:28

@Flumpflimpo congratulations on finding fat liberation! Things you may already know:
Thinness doesn't always equal healthiness
Self acceptance is very restful
You don't owe the world prettiness or thinness to earn your place in it as a woman.
I wish you all the best existing just as you are!

CharSiu · 24/07/2025 08:02

There is no severe western pressure to be thin, there used to be but these days there are so many fat people, walking around compared to when I was a child. There is in my culture which is Chinese at that height anything over a 10 would have you down as fat. I went to a wedding, I’m a similar height to you, just 1.5 inches taller and in the photos at a size 12 I am much fatter than any of my relatives.

SwingTheMonkey · 24/07/2025 07:43

Shenmen · 24/07/2025 06:20

I have been fat and thin. I disagree with enjoying having big boobs. Much happier when they are little as can run much more easily.

PopeJoan2 · 22/07/2025 19:17

I have been fat and thin and I would say there are pros and cons to both.

pros for fat

  • lovely big boobs.
  • feel quite sexy and womanly
  • can look really lovely in certain kinds of clothes
  • don’t get as much male attention (though don’t bank on it)
  • fat irons out the wrinkles

pros for thin

  • society seems to think (wrongly in my opinion) that a criteria for beauty is to be thin
  • get a lot of respect just for being thin
  • most clothes are designed to look good on thinner people

cons for being fat

  • depending how fat you are you can face a lot of discrimination as this society is generally fat phobic
  • it can compromise your mobility a bit because your belly can get in the way when you tie your shoelaces etc

cons for being thin

  • if you are too thin you feel cold all the time
  • generally, smaller boobs
  • you can sometimes feel painfully bony when you sit down
  • can get a lot of unwanted male attention.
so take your pick. Perhaps there is something in OP’s idea about seasonal fat/thinness. it makes sense to get fat for winter and then go into hibernation and live off the fat so that you are thin in time for Summer. Hey, that’s a neat idea for a new diet book - The Hibernation Diet. All I need is celebrity endorsement and I will be quids in.

Eleanorlock · 24/07/2025 06:15

13 stone, 5’3 and in size 14-16 clothing? What shops?!

Eleanorlock · 24/07/2025 06:14

17.52pm I am going to be fat and happy for the rest of the summer.
Then maybe i will try again in september.

And then

18.42pm I might not start the diet again in september, as i have realised how great i feel.
Fuck society expectations!

So who knows…. Perhaps by this morning the OP will pivot again and be fasting! Either way, it doesn’t sound like the happiness is particularly deep rooted if intention to start dieting in 5 weeks despite being incredibly happy and fit and strong, is flipped within 50 mins (following posters observing the contradiction in being very happy with weight but then wanting to start dieting again in 5 weeks) to “fuck it”

I don't look down on small boobs. I used to like how clothes hung on me when I was flat chested. It's just, I never expected to have boobs, as I was flat chested until I was almost fifty. So to suddenly grow a pair was quite a novelty. And I like it.

Understood. Thanks.

It's obviously your choice OP, but you can't expect people to agree it's a good idea.

You post could be
I've decided I'm going to carry on smoking crack because it makes me happy. I'm aware it causes issues for other people but I feel fine.

Gotta love a bit of crack ..c’mon !

makes me feel stronger -okaaay..?
makes me feel Warmer (wtf it’s bloody 22 degrees atm anyway??)
It’s society innit, really- nobody cares do they , too worried bout their own bodies not strangers ??
and will be knocking it on the head come September as actually prefer being crack-free so all this has been a bit of a lark hasn’t it really !!

I mean you made a fair point OP - good for you but the dogged commitment to your ‘ cause’ after you made clear in your OP this was just your ‘ fat girl summer’ feels a bit-‘thin’ -now if you’ll pardon the pun !

How do you get your shoulders into smaller stuff? Probably a stupid question but I am a similar build and my shoulders haven’t fitted smaller than a size 14 since before puberty Grin
I come from a family of (all male relatives) heavyweight boxers, swimmers and wrestlers

I don't. 14 is as low as I can go on anything with structured shoulders.

There are a couple of things I enjoy about being fat. Having boobs is one. I was flat chested when I was slim. Went from somewhere between A and B cup to D - double D when I was really overweight. Now I'm just a few pounds over BMI but the D cups remain.

I also like that I can enjoy food. I am one of the few women I know who doesn't have a really uneasy relationship with food. I love food. I have a fairly big appetite. I eat pretty healthily but a bit too much. But the joy I get from chatting with family over dinner is quite central to my life.

I do long to be slim in order to wear beautiful clothes but not enough to actually diet. I've never dieted. Never had that yoyo of thin then fat again. I do feel judged by some close friends who have very disordered eating. But I don't envy their obsession, or their disgust at fat bodies and deep down it really pisses me off that so many women live their lives constantly hungry or monitoring their intake and appetite to maintain a certain physique.

But you apparently look down on small boobs. How is that any better than looking down on fat? Women need to stop the self loathing over our bodies, whether small boobs, big boobs, heavy or lean. The emphasis needs to be in health, not confirming to a beauty standard.

Being happy and confident shouldn't be part of your weight.
The two things are not always connected.

Being a sensible weight is necessary for long term health. It should be the default setting for everyone to do their best to achieve that.

Being happy- that comes from whatever else is in your life and so does being confident.

That's true. Your body, and of itself, doesn't make you happy, but it often reflects happiness or unhappiness. For example, consider a person who is an emotional eater who gorges on junk versus a person who eats a mostly healthy diet. The emotional eater is trying to soothe her/his unhappiness and I do think the healthy eater is more likely to be happy. OP says she is a healthy eater and exercises, so she must have a slow metabolism to be at that weight. A lot of people have that problem and it's extremely difficult for them to shift their weight. So I think OP has decided to just accept it and not stress about it, otherwise she'll be miserable. That may be what she means by being happy about it.
