There was one time that i was 9 stone. This year i am the heaviest i have ever been.

Every week for that last year i have been thinking that i must lose weight, and i have been trying every diet , and thinking about food all the time.

I was so stressed from it all that i decided to give myself and not think about dieting for one month.

I was just thinking this month, I quite emjoy being fat. Im not morbidly obese, i am fat.

I feel nice and warm and cozy

When i was thin, i rememember feeling cold and having low energy a lot.

Has anyone else felt the same?

You do you.
I’ve been fat in the past, 12 stone, and I looked awful and felt like a whale.
I’m 9 stone now, eat healthily, and look great and feel great.

Changedasouting · 22/07/2025 18:23

I’ve been a size 26 obese my entire adult life. I am now a size 8-10 definitely prefer being smaller

If you are maybe going to try losing the weight in September, it sounds like you’re not totally happy about being fat.

I am happy being fat.

However i feel the societal pressure to be thin. I feel like society says it is "wrong" to be fat.

You are not fat and happy or else you would not have tried every diet under the sun nor be planning another for the end of Summer.

You are happy because you are not dieting and worrying about food. You feel great because you are eating whatever you want and are not depriving yourself.

Pashazade · 22/07/2025 18:23

I’ve lost 4 stone, technically I need to loose another stone to reach a BMI of 25. So according to the numbers I’m still overweight. I’m not going to aim for it, I’m perfectly happy where I am. My body feels great. Shockingly, I know some on here would have me loathe myself, I didn’t hate myself when I weighed almost 16 stone. Fortunately I knew that being fat didn’t make me a reprehensible human being. If you’re happy right now Op good for you, enjoy your summer without stressing about the endless nightmare of trying to control your weight.

She doesn't have to, no, but I'm pointing out her "It's so wonderful to be fat" posts don't mean a lot without knowing whether she is fat, and if so, how fat. All she has said is that she isn't morbidly obese - there's a very large window between 'healthy' and 'morbidly obese'.

And nobody has to tell you their exact weight or bmi, if they dont want to.

I checked the bmi.

I have a bmi of 32 . I am obese class 1 according to the bmi.

Im fitting into size 16 in clothes

I think being happy with who and what we are is something we all strive for. Ultimately there have always been fat people and I don't think it's wrong that some people will remain fat. I do think though that many of us convince ourselves we're happy that way and it's just something to be wary about.

If you are happy, don't let anyone suck it out of you by arguing on here about it.

Figfug · 22/07/2025 18:16

I’ve just lost 3.5 stone and am now just over 9 stone - I feel great.

yanbu to be happy with your body

If you can post those two sentences, you can post the two numbers that would describe your BMI.

Jesus the demanding people on here. Calm down.

No because i know my weight, but i dont know my bmi. I will have to put into a bmi calculator...which takes time

We have yet to establish you are fat, OP, so your trumpeting about how marvellous you're feeling doesn't mean a lot. Again, what is your BMI? I suspect you'll turn out to be at the upper end of 'healthy' or at most, a stone or so overweight.

Well it might be ok, until you can’t fit into something you like wearing, or you are invited to an event and have to think about buying something new to wear. That’s when it becomes a complete groan.

I hate when I add a few pounds, and feel so much better when I’m eating well and exercising regularly (I still allow myself plenty of treats too so I’m not miserable and starving myself!). But if you’re happy and feel healthy enough then that’s the most important thing.

Anchorage56 · 22/07/2025 18:07

As long as it doesnt affect your health then there is nothing wrong with it if your happy.

I had a brief dalliance with chubby. Not obese, but I was bursting out of my size 14 trousers. I was miserable. I felt I looked awful and I avoided being photographed and full
length mirrors. I had a moon face and a double chin. It really did not suit me.

I stopped walking around naked as I didn’t want my husband to see me (now I’ve lost the weight, he’s admitted he hated it, so it was a good thing).

I think body confidence is a great thing, but I don’t get how anyone and say they like being fat.

I feel great!

I have a fat friend and he said that he feels fat and happy

I know that society frowns on being "overweight" but we are all shapes and sizes.

@Flumpflimpo personally I don’t think I could be fat and feel good about myself. Being fat for me was draining physically and emotionally. At my heaviest I was a size 14. But what I would say is after many years of dieting - I realised that dieting is not the way. It’s about creating healthy habits and whilst at first it is so so so so hard (I cannot emphasise this enough) now I barely think of it. I have been asked if I don’t feel deprived, and I can honestly say I really don’t. I eat what I want and fancy but what I notice is I don’t fancy fat foods in the same way that I did before. I’m now a size 6/8 and would never go back.

The fat brings comfort to lots of people, it’s not uncommon.

Flumpflimpo · 22/07/2025 17:59

Anchorage56 · 22/07/2025 17:57

And carrying around lots of extra weight doesnt tire you out more? I've never been fat so I dont know what it feels like, I just assumed if you are carrying around a certain amount of extra weight it would make certain things harder?

No I feel great, I have to say!
