DH annoyed because I didn’t give him his dinner first?

My brother popped in this evening he wanted some help with prepping for his job interview. I was dishing up dinner everyone was upstairs my brother was in the kitchen with me. DC then had diarrhoea in the downstairs toilet so I just gave my brother that plate whilst I attended to poo-gate. DH came downstairs whilst my brother was eating and I was cleaning up poo and gave me the most deadly stare. I said to him do you want your dinner now as sometimes he likes to have it later. He said I should have had mine first! He’s still going on about it!

How do you know, so I don’t waste my time?

It’s not an AI post, people just say that to sound smart. The OP’s thread is just another depressing reality for some women

Secretsquirels · 18/07/2025 06:02

I think that you need to stop cooking for him for at least 6 months because “you’re worried that you’ll do it wrong and upset him”. Eat separately and just make yourself a salad or something.

Do not regain confidence in your ability to please him until either he has apologised profusely and shown some gratitude for what you do, or until he has cooked enough meals that he truly understands how lucky he is to have you cook for him.

I think he's being unreasonable. Have you asked him why he feels this way? I mean his feelings are valid and you should validate how he's feeling.

No, you shouldn’t validate the feelings of a man who gives you a deadly stare for dealing with a child poo emergency and feeding a guest.

I’m slightly intrigued why your brother started eating instead of waiting for everyone in the house to sit up to table, but mostly concerned with what a bellend your DH is. Is this a one-off or is he always Big Man of the House? Does he insist on penis portions like he’s Pa from Little House on the Prairie?

Because he’d just been given a plate of food and no one else was at the table. Why let the food get cold?

nomas · 18/07/2025 05:59

It’s scary that men like this still exist. I hope OP finds her anger.

whynotmereally · 18/07/2025 05:42

Seriously???
Either he plates his own food (and yours) or he cleans the poo!!
what a dickhead. And yes it’s polite to serve guests first regardless.

657904I · 18/07/2025 05:18

Honestly territorial stuff like this would completely go over my head, it would never occur to me to feed the men in the household first over guests.

Zanatdy · 18/07/2025 04:19

Wow. What an entitled arsehole. I’d always serve a guest in my home before any of the family members. You were sorting out your DC too, what the hell was he doing to help prepare dinner? I’d tell him to get lost, for good.

Morry15 · 18/07/2025 03:03

And people wonder why I have zero interest in ever living with a man again.....

orwellwasright2025 · 18/07/2025 02:42

It doesn't look like AI, except maybe the hyphen in poo-gate, but people do use hyphens, semi colons, colons and em dashes in real life too.

On this site, it is becoming a bit of a fixation that anything which is reasonably grammatically sound must be AI, real posts must have typos and be ungrammatical.

People are saying it's AI, I believe, because the OP didn't come back, which is another matter.

orwellwasright2025 · 18/07/2025 02:38

What a total and utter arsehole you are married to. Lazy, over entitled pig. Unless he thinks you fancy his brother maybe?

Yet another AI post, amongst so many.....yawn.

On what basis are you saying it’s AI?

socialdilemmawhattodo · 18/07/2025 02:01

Yet another 1 post and run thread. I'm not prepared to comment further until op comes back.

Why isn’t he capable of dishing up his own dinner whilst you deal with the kid

I’m in shock. How unattractive. I hope your husband works on himself a lot, for your sake.

42isthemeaning · 18/07/2025 00:14

Why do so many men seem to be so utterly useless on here?

JIMER202 · 18/07/2025 00:12

So he’s a useless shit and then moans at you after. If you were dishing up and helping your brother I don’t understand why didn’t he deal with your child in the bathroom? But then clearly he’s a lazy rude fuck. How dare he treat you like this! I’d stop cooking for him.

CaramelGhost · 18/07/2025 00:10

He is grim OP. It's lovely you have such a good relationship with your brother. Your partner is a massive red flag, seems like he is getting the hump because you served another man before him. Next time he can sort the poop

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 18/07/2025 00:09

I'm constantly surprised by how many women on here are married to men who literally don't know how to wipe their own arses, and here we have a woman married to a man who doesn't know who to use a spoon to put food on a plate.

Ponderingwindow · 18/07/2025 00:07

Why would he expect you to make him a plate at all? He is an adult.

do you really want your children growing up thinking this kind of sexism is acceptable?
