DH annoyed because I didn’t give him his dinner first?

My brother popped in this evening he wanted some help with prepping for his job interview. I was dishing up dinner everyone was upstairs my brother was in the kitchen with me. DC then had diarrhoea in the downstairs toilet so I just gave my brother that plate whilst I attended to poo-gate. DH came downstairs whilst my brother was eating and I was cleaning up poo and gave me the most deadly stare. I said to him do you want your dinner now as sometimes he likes to have it later. He said I should have had mine first! He’s still going on about it!

Well yes you are being unreasonable.

You should have picked him up out of his cot, carried him downstairs and strapped him in his high chair and served him first.

We all know babies don’t know how to use their emotions properly and aren’t the most rational.

🙄🙄

Apologies 😂 had a hectic few days! He’s just got this weird thing with me and my brother. It’s almost as if he’s jealous of our relationship.

Why do you put up with him?

tooloololoo · 19/07/2025 18:51

Man child

another reason single life is so peaceful

ThreePointOneFourOneFiveNine · 19/07/2025 18:50

Has he apologised?

Terrribletwos · 19/07/2025 17:16

I agree. Designed to create maximum outrage when traffic is low. OP probably won't be back.

I’m here! I posted and completely forgot all about it.

Does he think he’s Lord and Master of all?!

OneNewLeader · 18/07/2025 14:47

Is this from the 1950’s?

mangosmoothie123 · 18/07/2025 14:34

Remind him this is 2025 not 1945, sad sod

weareallalittlebitthesame · 18/07/2025 14:23

Assuming there was enough food for everyone this is really odd behaviour

User37482 · 18/07/2025 08:53

He can put food in his own plate, this is so pathetic.

Ah, sorry, I misread it.

What a total and utter arsehole you are married to. Lazy, over entitled pig. Unless he thinks you fancy his brother maybe?

It was the OP’s brother

2chocolateoranges · 18/07/2025 07:56

What a twat.

in our house it’s dh who cooks the dinner and we all get served at the same time! No favourites or big egos in our house.

Your DH behaved like a spoiled jealous little kid.
You will know if this one was just one time or if he does it frequently. In any case he was out of order.

im not saying he's right but you need to validate his feelings. You can communicate in ways "I see that you're upset over this, what could I have done differently?"

He may be a very sensitive man from what I'm reading.

Saying “what could I have done differently?" assumes OP was in wrong.

He doesn’t sound sensitive, he sounds abusive.

No decent man would have been angry in this situation.

Therealjudgejudy · 18/07/2025 06:25

What a twat.

Is there something wrong with his hands?

AlwaysFreezing · 18/07/2025 06:24

The 1950s called. They want your husband back.

thinklagoon · 18/07/2025 06:23

@AnotherLongtimelurker Ha, no, that stood out to me too! Brother merrily eating away while the cook is stuck dealing with poo-gate and half the household isn’t around.

Weerit · 18/07/2025 06:21

I recently worked with a French woman (in her 20's) who said that serving the man first was normal, then the kids and lastly the woman of the house - I was utterly horrified. Op, your dh is indeed a knob - if you have only just realised this, I feel very sorry for you but I suspect he has form.

nomas · 18/07/2025 06:02

No, you shouldn’t validate the feelings of a man who gives you a deadly stare for dealing with a child poo emergency and feeding a guest.

AnotherLongtimelurker · 18/07/2025 06:16

Am I the only one who thinks that it’s weird to serve just the person who happens to be in the kitchen? If dinner is ready in my house, it’s only served when everyone is in the kitchen to help serve/ take plates to the table etc.
I do think ops husband is a knob though.
