I need a new bathroom. I can afford the bathroom, not the £6-£12,000 I've been quoted to fit it.

Seriously.

I sat in Easy Bathrooms for an hour or so, designing a bathroom. Didn't know about fittings so I threw in some expensive ones, I could always revise down, right?

£4500.

Not bad! Got excited! Especially when they said the tiles were free!

Quote me up a large one I said!

£12,000 to fit.

My sister kitted out a very nice bathroom of free and very cheap high end items from facebook market place, sinks, baths and unit. You can probably find a fitter for a lot cheaper. If youre bathroom is unusuable currently then there are options. Although, ideally I would understand that a new proper bathroom would be the ideal scenario.

I am so sorry @Ihateboris , that is just such a shockingly traumatic experience.

sassyclassyandsmartassy · 17/07/2025 19:37

Having to buy a house for my in laws otherwise they will be homeless or have to re home their cats and, whilst doing this, watch as their house is sold from under them because of my MIL stupid financial decisions in collusion with her brother going completely over and above my FIL head when his ideas would have seen them sitting comfortably and not being able to trust her enough to believe that they will always pay us the vastly under market rent we would need to make this happen, otherwise we will lose our house and I won’t be able to run my company if I have poor credit….. So, yeah, most another day in paradise!

Oh and all whilst factoring in the fact my MIL has serious mental health issues that means she isn’t coping with any of this, can’t listen to reason at all and it’s caused my FIL a minor stroke.

Sending love to all of you, especially those of you grieving. This thread makes for heartbreaking reading and makes me incredibly grateful for the health and happiness of my DD, DH, DNs and myself. Wishing I could wave a magic wand for you all. I’m not religious but you are all in my thoughts tonight. ❤️

ShallIstart · 17/07/2025 19:35

Mountain of debt, woek contract just ended, and endless, daily issues with school with ND kids.

I'm on sick leave with exhaustion and probably won't go back 😒
I have nerve pain in my face, the side effects of the medication are grim

Is that trigeminal neuralgia? If so, that is deemed to be the worst pain known to man. I am sorry the side-effects of your medication are so severe and problematic.

I can't leave the house as every time I try, I feel like I'm going to wet myself.

If anyone has been through this, please send ideas to break the cycle!

Could you wear incontinence pants for a short while until you get your confidence back?

Itsarecipefordisaster · 17/07/2025 19:28

Oh gosh. Sending peace and good wishes to all those struggling at the moment. Like others, it’s put my problems into perspective.

I’ve been looking for work for months and I’m feeling financial anxiety and some panic thrown in for good measure.
I’m going NC with my brother who’s shown his true colours (aligned to my mother’s) which means I now have no immediate family because I enforced my boundaries.
I’m injured and can’t run which is my stress release.

RosyDaysAhead · 17/07/2025 19:28

My weight and trying to lose it!

Carpedimum · 17/07/2025 19:28

Elderly parents, both of sound mind but failing physically. This is difficult, but so much more so due to epic levels of pride and stubbornness. I just need them to accept the help they sorely need and not reach crisis point on a regular basis.

Husband has stage 4 cancer and we’re living from scan to scan

Pliudev · 17/07/2025 19:20

Seeing the problems others are facing certainly puts my own into perspective and I wish you all peace and some happiness, despite whatever you are facing.
My challenge is caring full time for a DH with dementia in the full knowledge that, were the tables turned, there is no possibility that he would be caring for me in the same way.

MommaSB · 17/07/2025 19:19

I'm currently keeping my children with me full time, as there's due to be an investigation into their father.

ShoeeMcfee · 17/07/2025 19:16

I wish everyone on this thread well x

my problem is that my lovely son and family are trying to rent a house near to me but rentals are very thin on the ground right now. I miss them so much.

Daftypants · 17/07/2025 19:13

I am PoA for elderly mother who is in a care home some distance away , I am carer for disabled daughter, I don’t have a support network , my dog is poorly so extra cleaning right now .
I am feeling knackered , I have massive bug bites from when I went walking with said dog at night when it was too hot during the day and these bites are itching like hell .
I could seriously do with a bit of help but don’t have any that’s all .
Insignificant compared to many I know

I’m nearly 4 years out from this diagnosis and doing fine. Loads of stuff on the internet about this type of breast cancer is outdated - it can be beaten ❤️❤️

My autistic 25 year old son has just been diagnosed as type 1 diabetic , currently in hospital in dka , an unpredictable difficult to manage chronic condition is unfortunately going to make life a whole lot harder for someone who already struggles with routine change

where I live we have a learning disability team who can help with the adjustment of things like this? Hopefully they will be able to put him on continuous glucose monitoring and a pump to avoid the injections etc. sending love and hope at the difficult time xx

Grieving the loss of my beloved mum (a couple of years ago) and 15yo daughter diagnosed today with Addinsons Disease, today. MIL with dementia.

Financially okay but the above three things makes me realise, you have nothing without your health

I have triple negative breast cancer, single mother to sen teen with health problems

some of the replies on this thread have got me checking my privilege too. Sending huge love to those who are dealing with so much.

I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer five and a half years ago at the age of 60. I declined chemotherapy, lumpectomy and radiotherapy. I had a mastectomy instead, so was cancer-free in six weeks instead of seven to eight months of gruelling treatment. Not the right decision for everyone, but it was definitely the right decision for me. I was a single parent to two adult DC who had only lost their DF six months previously. Hope all goes well for you.

Solongtoshort · 17/07/2025 19:05

1st world problems really, but glad someone asked as now l feel silly for worrying about them when other people have bigger problems, listing them will also help me mentally l think!!!

l started the year debt free and with £3000 savings

l owe £3000 for my car, the fan belt went in mine and wasn’t worth repairing, l need a car for work or it would be a 2 hour commute on buses when it’s only a 15/20 min drive.

Holiday in August which was booked and paid for before the car situation happened and now l will have very little spends to enjoy it.

l owe my sister £200 for a birthday present for my dad, l have to pay £100 towards a family meal the end of August.

l owe £200 to vodaphone.

My car insurance went up by £220 (l have 2/3 saved as l pay it annually).

l am fat and pre-diabetic and have thought about the injection but don’t have the means, l used to love running but l have arthritis in my right knee which is crippling me.

l work 44 hours in a job/ team l love but 1 person is making it stressful.

l know money comes and goes and my friend keeps telling me to just get a loan/overdraft, she would be fine with this and lives like this but growing up l watched my parents rob Peter to pay Paul , hide behind the wall and fiddle the electric and being in debt. Having no money scares me so much as l would hate to put my children through what did.

My partner is disabled following 3 strokes and I’m now a full time carer. (And my beloved dog is very old) 😭
