My Mum has lung cancer- and my brother is having a nervous breakdown because of it. I'm just bracing myself because it is going to be bumpy.

Hmiabpddadsk · 17/07/2025 20:29

After two surgeries earlier in the year I am struggling to keep working FT - 65 next birthday. Am having to fight for even minor adjustments to help me keep working. Long to retire but can't afford to do that, as still have a mortgage to pay off after an unwanted divorce.

If ever a thread was the definition of "walk a mile in someone else's shoes...."
Sending love and strength to everyone x

I am struggling emotionally. I feel like my entire personality is slowly changing into something (or someone) I don't recognize. I struggle with routine and I struggle to stay focused. I have already let go of most of the struggle and there are many moments where I let the chips fall where they may.

I am worried it will get me into to trouble in the long run though, especially at work. I feel I am less reliable than I used to be. I also feel largely detached from the world at the moment. Some of it is deliberate. I can't stand watching the news at the moment and part of me just feels flighty, as though I am not really here.

Somehow I still get things done, but I often don't know how. On the one hand it is peaceful, but on the other it is scary and I feel out of control.

Champagne problems but…
major problem is a friend moving in bc dp and I can’t afford rent. Now shes moved in she is picky, pinning her mh on me (I have too many books on my bookshelf and it’s upsetting her (no I’m serious))
minor things but I just graduated UG and I’m now doing a PG, I’m worried I won’t get onto PhD program once I’m done with PG
worried about DPs career. He’ll get it sorted, he’s got a brilliant mind but it’s early days and stuff needs to be arranged
worried we might need to do long distance if I get a PhD far away :(

Ask her to move out, you need to keep your sanity for your education.
Rentals are like gold dust, you'll find another tenant who isn't going to ruin your life.
10 years from now, you'll be sorry that you let her stay.

I just have a nagging worry I'll lose my job, not be able to get another one, and fall into massive debt/poverty. I have OCD, ADHD, anxiety and a tendency to catastrophise though (which in itself is pretty hard to live with, like a hornet's nest living inside my head).

Husband has cancer in his 30s. We have a baby and a toddler. I’m on SMP so money is draining. Life with two young kids is draining as it is. We are happy though sad at the prospect we might not have forever.

My 3 year old son has severe chronic eczema which he's now been on Methotrexate since 1st Feb. Kills me everyday I can't make it better for him. He also has a peanut allergy which is petrifying and global delay so quite challenging behaviour at times..
But he and his brother are my absolute world so we'll get through it together x

Hello, has he tried dupilimab ? Methotrexate didn’t work for my sibling who also has chronic eczema but dupilmab cured him.

Buzyizzy217 · 17/07/2025 20:12

The government’s inability to act on the climate crisis. It’s truly terrifying to see all these babies and young children and more and more being born every day without a thought of the home we are leaving them. 🥲

That I'm ill again. It's a repeat of last week and I have no idea what on earth that was about

(It's a fever of some sort which comes and goes. Spent last Tuesday not knowing whether I wanted to vomit or pass out. I just want to vomit now)

It might be long Covid x

I have had 19 quotes.

Cheapest was 6k.

Toilet/shower/bath/sink and unit/extractor/full tile.

My bathroom continues to fester.

To fit?? A plumbing course would be cheaper.

The piece of scum who raped my daughter when she was 15 is getting out of prison soon (4 years on).

Same DD was pregnant and has just lost the baby, so supporting her and her (lovely) bf through this.

Debt.

Aging mothers, one with dementia in a home and one still living fairly independently but needing increased support.

The bastard only got four years?? I'm so angry on your behalf 😒. I hope your daughter is OK x

My sister kitted out a very nice bathroom of free and very cheap high end items from facebook market place, sinks, baths and unit. You can probably find a fitter for a lot cheaper. If youre bathroom is unusuable currently then there are options. Although, ideally I would understand that a new proper bathroom would be the ideal scenario.
