Is Sunday a school night?

There’s a hotly contested issue on another thread. I think Sunday is a school night because school is the next day, meaning early to bed, ready. But some people are saying that a school night is when you’ve been at school, so Friday but not Sunday. They are wrong. AIBU?

I saw that thread and my first thought was, Sunday is not a school night. I am a teacher!

Yanbu. School nights are Sunday to Thursday - the days when you don't over-do it as you have to be functional next day. Non-school-nights are Friday and Saturday when it's ok to party on down because it's ok to be exhausted next day.

To me, Sunday is a 'school night', as my son has school tomorrow, and therefore it's earlier to bed.

Absolutely, it’s a night when you have school the next day. So you shouldn’t be out on the randan because it’s a school night and you have to get up and go to school in the morning.

I heard, ‘out on the randan’ in my granny’s voice! Love that expression.

100%. Sunday - school night because you have to get up for school, Friday - not school night because you don’t have to get up the next day.

Yes, it’s a night you need to be organised for the next day and make sure you get to bed at decent time.
