What’s your Summer Anthem!

So despite being flattened by the heatwave these last few days, I’ve still being enjoying my music and just got me wondering what everyone’s summer favourites are?!

I’ll start, so as a child of the 80s, mine is ‘Cruel Summer’ by Bananarama. So relatable growing up because my parents never took us on holiday ever so the school summer hols always felt torturously long and cruel because all my friends and cousins did get to go away and I was quite sad about that as a kid and this song as well as being so catchy was just perfect for me to hold a pity party to! 😅 And still resonates as an adult when you’re stuck in the office throughout most of the summer!

Anyone else?!

Long hot summer - Style Council

Now That’s What I Call Music brought out a Summer Album in 1986, and my best mate had it. It had four sides of proper summer bangers.

Any of those songs take me back to those carefree days.

The Day We Caught The Train by Ocean Colour Scene. Great feel good song and the music video reminds me of my childhood holidays.

I agree with most of these, they give me serious nostalgic vibes these days, a few others for me:

Smalltown Boy - Bronski Beat
My Favorite Waste of Time - Owen Paul
Baby Jane - Rod Stewart

you’ll be able to guess my age from these 😁

Yes, loving read everyone’s suggestions - especially when there’s a memory attached! Agree with all yours except Roddy - just never took to his raspy voice!

Another great one. That's on my list too.

Fantastic song and very surprised to learn they were Canadian. They sounded as does the band name, British to my ears!

why 2 threads?

Oh I love all Dusty Springfield’s music! First discovered her as a school kid in the late 80s through her Pet Shop Boys collab ‘What have I done to deserve this’.

Apologies for the duplicate thread, I e asked for the other one (only had two replies) to be closed.

After a lifetime of working in education, this is still my number 1 favourite:
School's Out by Alice Cooper

When I was training, we'd have a disco after teaching practice, get drunk as skunks and bounce around to it.
