Loud Long Fart

Aibu to be livid over this encounter?

I was shopping today and as I passed a man he let out a very loud and very long fart right as I was level with him in the aisle. There’s no way it was accidental as it sounded very forced.

Makes me think that some men just hate women and do things like this to make them feel uncomfortable.

You might appear on one of those youtube channels soon. Hope you had your make up on.

Did he follow through?

Yes he took her out to dinner afterwards.

Internaut · 09/07/2025 19:44

You took 20 seconds to walk past someone? How?

LBFseBrom · 09/07/2025 19:37

I fail to see what it has to do with disliking women. Women fart too you know.

WalkingWavy · 09/07/2025 19:26

I like to think I can see the funny side of most things but I would be repulsed by this. If he was genuinely stood close to OP then that’s just rude, he should have walked away

Did it work? 🤣

Actually it did! Boys are gross 😂

Fart stories are never not funny. 😂 I cover my supermarket ones with a loud cough and hope I get away with it.

Really - i'm not pearl clutching, but how is farting funny? Its expelling shit particles. Thats really not funny in any situation?

Zanzara · 09/07/2025 19:20

Some of the sceptics in here should google Le Petomane. I can well believe it's true OP. Some men (and occasionally some women) are just base.

viques · 09/07/2025 19:17

All I wish to say is that when younger I never farted in public. But now, honestly, I don’t know where they come from, 🙄but come they do! Though I do try to keep them from other peoples personal space if I possibly can.

That’s usually tragic boyfriends not randomers.

Some people don’t care, some people really can’t help it, but it’s doubtful, as a PP brilliantly put it, that it was a targeted attack.

I am sure It does extend to tragic boyfriends but I think this poster puts it well Op you're right though - it's second nature to some men to force women to acknowledge their presence. it’s like wolf whistling. I’m older now but I remember being groped and harassed many times in my late teens and twenties. I tend to have a radar on for this sort of attention seeking behaviour where it’s possible that a man is seeking to open an unwelcome interaction. I’d try to ignore and move away sharpish. Actually the last
time I experienced something similar was a gang of teens hanging out by a path I needed to walk down. Loud fart timed for when I passed and smirks. So it does and can happen. Ignore. Ignore. Ignore.

suzysnowball · 09/07/2025 19:12

Sounds like you secretly enjoyed it, did you follow him round wanting another?

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 09/07/2025 19:11

I'm actually very impressed at a 20 second fart. I'd have cheered him for that alone.

Iamacatslave · 09/07/2025 19:10

I would have laughed and congratulated him on his whopper of a fart.

youreactinglikeafunmum · 09/07/2025 19:06

Yanbu and some men do just hate women 😭

WhatTheHelll · 09/07/2025 17:33

You can tell it’s forced when it goes on for about 20 seconds at full volume when he’s right beside me in the aisle of a shop.

rubbish.

You might be able to tell it was forced if he said "oops, almost touched cloth there" otherwise, meh.

Yes. I know. But i used to be in the army. I have heard and seen enough farts to know about these things in detail.

Thelosthalfathought · 09/07/2025 19:05

I work in a school science department and one teacher explain diffusion by farts being the spread of “poo particles” around the room. Displayed by using an air freshener squirt to prove his point. 😬

Also known as ‘crop dusting’…

It's not a "targeted attack" ffs. 🤣🤣

Farts are a natural bodily function, like it or not. Everyone does them. They are hilarious and much better out than in, I say.

I came from a family where farting competitions were not unknown at home. Obviously we didn't walk along the street competing loudly with each other, and controlled ourselves in front of visitors. However, a loud fart from someone else in the supermarket would not have been met with pearl clutching.

I'd have just laughed about it.

Calmorchaos · 09/07/2025 18:57

This is a weird post.

How do you force a ‘long loud fart’ out if your body has no need to do it?

How does a fart equate to hating women?

It’s a natural bodily function. It’s not nice to be around admittedly, but it’s natural like a cough ?

Most of us are conscious and will do our best not to do it but some have no concept of it being an unusual thing to do publicly .

GregHouse · 09/07/2025 18:56

I feel on MN women laugh and find their own farts hilarious but then complain if a man dare to fart.

How can you tell it was forced? Confused

You can definitely tell - there's an effort at the end that changes the pitch, like if a trumpeter starts blowing harder Grin

Op you're right though - it's second nature to some men to force women to acknowledge their presence. I don't think most of them do it to make women uncomfortable as a primary aim - but they don't care that it happens.
