Favourite lazy arse dinners

As per title. Tonight I have a plate of pasta (fusilli) with butter melted through and cheddar cheese on top. Teaspoon of lazy garlic mixed through with the butter. When I’m being less disgusting I melt butter and a little garlic into the fusilli, add tuna or chicken and basil, and squeeze a lemon over. But the ultimate lazy dinner is literally a heap of pasta covered in cheese.

A Tesco Finest ready meal (chicken satay one is a favourite here) or a McDonalds delivery.

Lalalalaland25 · 06/07/2025 21:47

Microwave salmon fillet, rice and veg, takes less than 10 mins!

carmak · 06/07/2025 21:46

Fish fingers and chips, 10 minutes in the airfryer. Large glass of wine.

Occasionally add peas for health reasons.

BCBird · 06/07/2025 21:45

These are given me ideas. Thanks 😊

Crikeyalmighty · 06/07/2025 21:45

Good Greek yoghurt grapes and banana

AngelicKaty · 06/07/2025 21:43

@Spudthespanner Not dissimilar to yours OP. Tonight I've had penne pasta with chopped mushrooms, black pitted olives and half a jar of green pesto stirred in - delicious and super-lazy! 😂

ilovepixie · 06/07/2025 21:43

Toast.

Dotto · 06/07/2025 20:52

Slab of chocolate and a packet of crisps 😂

Ditto Dotto

Im always looking out for lazy dinners, the simply cook murgh karai is kind of like that (more if a simple yet very filling not so much lazy recipe)

MummaMummaMumma · 06/07/2025 21:41

Super noodles with frozen mixed veg and spinach. Only if it's just for me, wouldn't feed that to the kids.

ThePure · 06/07/2025 21:41

A tortilla spread with pesto or tomato purée and grated cheese plus whatever you want to add from the fridge eg peppers and a bit of ham or chicken, heat in a frying pan until the cheese starts to melt then fold it in half (like making an omlette) and flip it. Instant quesadilla.

CoastalCalm · 06/07/2025 21:41

Tin of soup microwaved in a mug

Crisp sandwich

That's what I had tonight! With a big cup of tea. Great.

I had a big lunch though, and I'm not looking for anything else.

Boursin also works well for this!

Yes, Boursin would be better. I’m going to make it this week 🙌🏻

Watermelon with feta on top. Some mint if I'm feeling fancy.

Actually, that is one I love on a lazy hot day but I go with pistachios and balsamic glaze instead of feta. Grilled halloumi if I have it.

stayathomer · 06/07/2025 21:39

Eggs beans and Birds Eye waffles fresh from the toaster or beans on toast!

Was it a comment I made? As that is also a go to for me but only my daughter and I like it

MrsAlgernon · 06/07/2025 21:39

Used to be takeaways until I got airfryer (15 in 1).

Now easier to chuck fillets/meatballs and sweet potatoes and not wait too long.

if there's leftover rice, can add eggs and spring onions - to get basic egg fried rice. Basic but satisfying.

Pre mounjaro this was my favourite:

Now it’s a chicken or salmon traybake. Put a load of root veg or Mediterranean veg (including halved new potatoes), olive oil, whole garlic cloves and herbs in a baking tray. If it’s chicken add at the beginning. If salmon add the fish 10 mins before the veg is done. You can add lemon wedges, paprika, chilli flakes or other spices to taste. Roast in a hot oven. One pan cooking at its finest!

Spaghetti With Marmite

I came across this recipe in Anna Del Conte's memoirs, Risotto with Nettles. Now, there are so many recipes I could borrow from her, and many I have, but this is the one I have to show you here. She introduces it as hardly a recipe, but I wanted to inc...

These are all way too much effort. I just DoorDash.

Katemax82 · 06/07/2025 21:38

Pasta with pesto stirred in
Also when I'm absolutely broke and its just me and the kids I do basic sausage pasta..its a couple of tins tomatoes, a whole onion top and tailed and a nob of butter simmered for about 2 hours. When the onions soft blend it all, meanwhile bungalow sausages in the oven, when theyre cooked cut them into chunks, shove it in the sauce and have with pasta. I like it cos you use hardly any ingredients and you can leave the sauce for hours simmering on low while you watch tv

Potato waffle in the toaster. Eat between two slices of buttered bread with ketchup.

Edited

This sounds divine. Had no idea you could put waffles in the toaster!

I learnt this from another thread on Mumsnet!

Block of feta and a tub in cherry tomatoes drizzled with olive oil in the oven for 20 minutes

Cook pasta

Mix the lot together and stir some fresh rocket through to serve

Boursin also works well for this!
