I keep seeing this scenario.

Woman with her own house. She is paying for the bills. Her DP moves in. His kids come EOW. Why do so many people say it is the SC's home?

Child's father lives there so that means it's also his children's home

Just living somewhere makes it the children's home even though the child's father contributed nothing?

Because morally the father needs to provide a home for his children. So his home is the children's home.

So because he moves in with someone into a house that he did not pay for, then suddenly it becomes his childrens home too?

Ultimately that's the choice you make when you move a man with children in with you

if any woman is daft enough to let a man to leech off of her, she deserves every thing she gets.

That’s her choice. No different to a woman being a SAHM. It’s still his home regardless of what bills he pays.

not in my book it isn't. If the children are the product of the relationship there can be an argument, but not someone else's children and any woman who does it is insane. Any woman who is a SAHM and expects a man who is not the father to pay all of the bills is frankly a leech.

but if the woman is paying all the bills then the father is not providing a home for the SC the woman is.

Yes. But she’s extending herself, her home, to this man. And therefore to his children.

Whether she should put up with him at all is an entirely other question,

Diarygirlqueen · 04/07/2025 13:09

What a ridiculous petty thought.

HelloGreen · 04/07/2025 13:08

Because it’s not the children’s fault their father is a cocklodger. Wherever he is, when they’re with him, is temporarily their home. If the woman is permitting the father to live there, then she’s permitting the children to live there EOW too.

My father was this man. As a child I didn’t cease to exist EOW, I have childhood memories of this EOW home.

Also children aren't guests staying with their father. They are living with that parent, being cared for by that parent. He's being (or should be) as much if a parent as the mother. It maybe only EOW but that's still their home with their parent

MsTamborineMan · 04/07/2025 13:03

Because if a child's father lives there, it is their home?

A child's home is where their parents live. The woman may own the house but if a man with children has moved in she's providing a home for them all

idontknowhowto · 04/07/2025 13:03

I haven’t seen this scenario but if a woman is having a man move in witj his kids EoW then it is their home too while they’re there.
They're children, they’re not going to own their own homes and have to live somewhere.
