We need someone with backbone to put forward an alternative political viewpoint.

What about actively supporting hamas?

Thats a criminal offence in this country and there are certainly no politicians doing so

WorriedMutha · 04/07/2025 09:19

You can only vote for Corbyn or Sultana if you actually live in their constituency. Where is this 10% of votes coming from? Unless they get a massive funding operation underway to launch candidates nationally, they are toast. Corbyn stacked up votes in metropolitan areas in 2019 and had no national reach.
They are a lame duck and that's why the announcement is half way down the page on mainstream media sites. They are an embarrassment. Still I will look forward to the exodus of the embittered lefties from my local Labour CLP.

I will wait and see. The issues that are important to me are reducing wealth, sex and race inequalities, and minimising privilege of birth. Increasing rewards and improving the standards of living for the army of people who do the essential but low paid/low status work, and adequately supporting vulnerable people, the young, old, ill disabled and carers. I'd like to see all essential services under state control and state ownership of assets. I'm happy to pay higher taxes. Whichever party most closely aligns with this will get my vote next time.

Disagreeing with the Israeli government isn’t racist. Why is this hard to understand?

I could never support a woman who believes men-who-think-they-are-women are actual women. Anyone who puts the demands of AGP males first and others who think children should be given PBs like sweeties on demand is a very dangerous person, regardless as to where they stand on other political issues.

Same and increasingly I think many people think this way too.

Which is why I ask constantly, why do the Lib Dem’s follow this path constantly? They would get so many middle ground votes if they quietly put aside the PB, APGs and extremes of gender ideology.

localnotail · 04/07/2025 09:13

UK Communist party? Yes, we deffo need a leftist equivalent to Reform... not

Mumble12 · 04/07/2025 09:12

That’s an opinion piece in a newspaper, published 4 months before the announcement of a new party. It doesn’t have any bearing on yesterdays announcement, or what might happen in 4 years time.

Google Corbyn and antisemitism.

And yet none of the evidence suggests that young people will vote for Corbyn. Young men in particular are far more likely to vote Reform/rightwing.

It’s possible both Corbyn and Reform could get younger votes. Not sure of the split. But being in the left as a first time voter is not unusual.

Shame young people don’t vote

They will in 2029

Not sure what evidence you’re going to find , they only announced they were launching a party yesterday afternoon.

None of the 14-17 year olds I know would have any interest in voting reform, but I suppose it very much depends on where they are in the country.

‘Nigel Farage feels real’: why young British men are drawn to Reform

Once, anti-establishment youth disillusioned with mainstream politics headed left. Now increasing numbers are tilting right. Why?

Opposing an ideology (or even mentioning one, as the comment you took issue with did) is not racism. You’re just trying to shut people down and silence them, and not being very successful at it either.

As above. Enjoy your day.

And the majority of Muslims are from what ethnic backgrounds? Stop hiding behind fig leaves.

I’m so worried about the split vote situation. We can’t give reform an inch

So true

Zarah Sultana has the biggest social media following of any MP. She's very popular with young people.

Social media followings don't translate into results at GEs. I remember ones like 2019, when if you looked at something like Twitter you'd have been certain of a landslide for Labour, and the result turned out very different.

Social media sites are just echo chambers for a small number of similarly-minded people, most of the time.

I think given the choice of Nigel or Jeremy, though I suspect a Kier Jeremy coalition would work best.

mutinyonthetwix · 04/07/2025 09:06

Feels a bit fork in the road. If Corbyn can focus on domestic issues affecting daily lives like cost of living, social care, NHS etc then I can see him making some headway because it's pretty obvious that Labour nor the Conservatives have any answers to these problems. The risk is he muddles his party messages with big macro global "Stop the War" type issues which will only make so much headway.

In four years time, the first time voters will have far different political priorities than the last 4 years. I think a new party from
Corbyn & Sultana would gain a lot of that vote. They’re both very active on social media & speak about issues that matter to that demographic.

Racist comment reported.

Zionism isn’t a race. It’s an ideology. So no racism there 🤦🏻‍♀️
