Do Teddies have kids who struggle academically?

Hello All,

Just seeing if any current parents can tell me if the vast majority of kids at Teddies thrive academically. I have heard this from current parents and students.

Some of the staff do tend to be a little arrogant at times though.

I want one! It will go well with my pub quiz shirt I'm not arguing, I'm just telling you why I'm right!

Zippp · 03/07/2025 22:02

Is this St Edward’s Oxford? It took the rich but middling kids from my son’s prep school who hadn’t got into MCS or boarding schools.

Bear does no one care where the op is? @oioos7

No! This is way too much fun 😁

After hard thought - Monkeys, Cuddlies & Squishmallows? Someone upthread said she has a monkey.

Manky Comprehensive School?

SheSaidHummingbird · 03/07/2025 21:56

So Build-a-Bear is, like, prep school?

Staffling · 03/07/2025 21:56

JudgeJ · 03/07/2025 21:54

I feel pretty with all this bear talk.

My bear likes to be in America. 😊

Staffling · 03/07/2025 21:54

3luckystars · 03/07/2025 18:14

Get stuffed with that attitude.

But don't go to build-a-bear. Too expensive.

I've just met a bear called Maria.

I feel pretty with all this bear talk.

Is this to do with Brideshead Revisited?

Oh, lovely Aloysius!

Biscuitsneeded · 03/07/2025 21:41

I don't know. I've heard they love to play and shout a lot, and they never have any cares. The worst are the stuffed owls, though. Can't even spell their own names.

EdithStourton · 03/07/2025 21:35

Im assuming that since teddies go to Teddies, there is no need for school loos - since, bears, as we all know, shit in the woods.

Or is it that bears are Catholics and Popes... Dunno, sorry, too much gin.

IGuessIllbetheFirst · 03/07/2025 21:30

My ted lives by the quote “There’s no problem too big that a little honey can’t solve” - maybe that’s where it all started to go wrong?

Localres · 03/07/2025 21:24

My Teddy was doing brilliantly academically until he hit the mid teen years. We tried everything but once he discovered the hard stuff, there was no going back.

never believe them when they tell you honey isn’t addictive.

MsFogi · 03/07/2025 18:11

Oh dear lord why do private school parents think that everyone knows and cares about their school!? Seriously - they all end up at the same universities!

Because it’s not only about the academics. It’s about an entire schooling experience that could make or break you.

tommyhoundmum · 03/07/2025 21:13

What about his bedsheets? How often are they washed?

Weekly, I assure you. The 13 year old himself has reached the obsessive teenage hygiene stage, too. He just loves his festering Monkey.

lifeonmars100 · 03/07/2025 19:37

Yes!! very creepy, the tone of voice, the music and the lyrics are like something from a horror film, off to Google it now...

Played around here by the ‘ice team van’ reputed to sell drugs, given that it does a roaring trade after dark in winter.

BENEATH THE TREES WHERE NOBODY SEES…

My son’s Monkey has the lemur equivalent of a PhD, but hasn’t been washed in 13 years.

What about his bedsheets? How often are they washed?

Hawkeyethenew · 03/07/2025 21:11

This thread has made my week. Please put in classics!

Londonrach1 · 03/07/2025 21:11

Please think of the bunnies... please think of the bunnies...it shouldn't just be about teddies...jellycat bunnies are also very cuddly

EmpressaurusKitty · 03/07/2025 21:08

Dontfencemein · 03/07/2025 21:06

How can you bear it?

I expect they’re growling about it quite a lot.

Dontfencemein · 03/07/2025 21:06

MrsKypp · 03/07/2025 20:53

I was going to send all our teddies to Teddies for £12,725 a term each as day pupils. Between my children there are probably around 15 soft toys, and it would be unacceptable to discriminate and only send teddies private and not the rabbit, leopard et al, so £190,875 a term, £572,625 a year. Very reasonable.

However, with the VAT it's just too expensive. We will be forced to look elsewhere now.

How can you bear it?

EmpressaurusKitty · 03/07/2025 21:05

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 03/07/2025 20:31

My teddy has never had a job.

He just sits about.

With his friend.

My neighbour’s little girl once told me that her teddy did the tannoy announcements in the big Sainsbury’s & got paid in Haribo’s.

musicalfrog · 03/07/2025 21:05

Literally thought this meant the teddy boys of the 1950s 🤣🤣

I mean, what else COULD it mean?
