Do Teddies have kids who struggle academically?

Hello All,

Just seeing if any current parents can tell me if the vast majority of kids at Teddies thrive academically. I have heard this from current parents and students.

@MagdaLenor

#FreePinkPauline is a very worthwhile campaign. I shall join you forthwith.

VAT = Very Academic Teddies

Years ago it had the reputation of being for rich kids who weren't academic enough to get into MCS.
I'd bear that in mind.

I see what you did there.

edwinbear · 03/07/2025 19:46

I had to pull my teddies out of private school given the VAT on school fees. I can’t bear the thought of sending them to the local comp with all the road bears, but no choice unfortunately.

They struggle academically but they do throw a mean picnic.

Damnit MN, bring back that laughing reaction!😂

"Another has some behavioural issues because of a serious marmalade sandwich addiction."

Could explain a lot about some of the people whose DM had the same problem.

Soft furry things that love picnics.

Wasn’t that Yogi Bear?

It’s ok. She says she was registered female over 50 years ago at the toy shop.

PHEW.

She is fabulous!

TheHillsIsLonely · 03/07/2025 19:42

Most of our little teds have just graduated. That's because we were quite strict as parents and didn't allow them to go gallivanting on picnics in the woods on school nights. However one is a bear of very small brain and long words bother him. Another has some behavioural issues because of a serious marmalade sandwich addiction.

Good point.

The OP has a duplicate thread in Boarding schools - I checked out of curiosity. I expect that will be the serious one.

My teddy is called Constance, she is very caring but not especially bright, I don't care as I value her kind nature

All my teddies are really smart and one of them (the koala) even wrote a song.

Did the koala not get any koala-fications?

You’d be better off shifting this to the Education board. Otherwise it looks like something to do with the academic abilities of soft toys.

I did wonder! 🤔

So did I!

I do think that is an incredibly sinister song, though.

Yes!! very creepy, the tone of voice, the music and the lyrics are like something from a horror film, off to Google it now...

Yeah. Anyone know what MCS is?

Magdalen College School Oxford.
Although I prefer Monkeys, Cuddlies & Squishmallows

cocoromo · 03/07/2025 19:34

Our stuffed goat on well on the way to finishing his PHD in Astrophysics, the penguin on the other hand is a lost cause…..

After hard thought - Monkeys, Cuddlies & Squishmallows? Someone upthread said she has a monkey.

Years ago, I wore a "Teddy".
Tasteful red & black nylon with a split gusset & holes for my nipples to poke through.

Ah yes I remember those. These days my nipples would virtually reach the gusset.

Now that is a truly well loved bear. Gorgeous! Thanks for the laughs PP’s.

They set traps?! Oh my god. That's tough schooling, even for soft toys.
