Two Tier’s days are numbered

Starmer will be gone by this time next year.

This government is imploding right before our eyes, despite a huge (but shallow) majority. People didn’t vote for Labour, as much as they voted against the diabolical Tories in the last election.

Coupled with that, the calibre of MPs in general, but especially the new Labour MPs is shockingly low. These are people who have never had real jobs, and found themselves accidentally in charge of the country. Most them would struggle to use a calculator, let alone understand how the economy works.

Bond markets are already punishing ‘Rachel from accounts’. Cue the insults about misogyny despite the fact that calling her from accounts is an insult to those who actually work in accounts. Gilts are already above when Truss was in charge, meaning the situation is worse. Crazy tax hikes are on the way. Top rate taxpayers are leaving the country in droves.

Boat crossings are at a record high. Unemployment is up, inflation is on the increase. The country is at very real risk of recession.

If Starmer falls, his replacement candidates are terrifying. It’s possible the government could fall within 2 years or so. The chances of Reform getting into power will increase many fold if there is a snap election in that timeframe.

Wonder if the economically illiterate, constantly wanting to constantly shake the magic money tree, are ready for Reform.

I am soooo disappointed by their crapness. At least with the Conservatives they were honest aboit being lying scum and didnt try to hide the fact that they were lining their own pockets.

But yes "Rachel from accounts" is misogynist. You didnt get "Rishi from accounts" or "Kwasi from accounts" (admittedly he wasnt there long enough to get any sort of nickname) or "Jez from accounts".

Absolutely terrifying but entirely predictable 😩

Some companies I’ve spoken to recently would say we’re already in a recession.

We’ve been in recession for the last 2 1/2 years if you actually look at grass roots Recruitment i.e. not very much

HangryLikeTheHulk · 02/07/2025 07:21

I like the current government, and I’m happy with Starmer as PM.

I will have a look. I haven't heard of the byline times though. Does it have a particular bias?

I have no love for Reform. Just a great dislike of Labour government. I suspect many people feel the same way. Which will mean Reform have a good chance of getting in so I hope they get their house in order, for the sake of the country in 2029.

AnyoneWhoHasAHeart · 02/07/2025 07:16

People were warned to be careful what they wished for.

I don’t think reform will get in, but I do think that there could be a Tory reform coalition.

The “the tories have done” line has run its course. Were a year in, and labour have achieved precisely nothing. In fact they’ve pretty much had to reverse every decision they’ve made, and none of it has anything to do with the tories.

the truth is that we’re not unique, and we currently are in a period of world instability at the moment.

most other countries are in a similar position at the moment, so what’s the answer?

LlynTegid · 02/07/2025 07:16

Regardless of the level of disappointment or worse you think of the Prime Minister, he will be there at least until a year before the next general election, if not longer.

morning Rishi

Well you can't say the lefties don't have a sense of humour. An excellent (and original) comeback.

'These are people who have never had real jobs, and found themselves accidentally in charge of the country. Most them would struggle to use a calculator, let alone understand how the economy works.'

So you've met our new Reform councillors then......

Can't be any worse than Labour, with their sticky fingers in the troughs.

Red Ed? Give me a break. Look up James Hansen, climate warming is accelerating. Labour have been a disappointment in many ways, but they are the only game in town for decarbonisation. Which we need to be doing much faster if we have any hope of a livable future.

We get the government we deserve, but I still think Labour are the least worst option and this thread is yet another rabble rousing attempt.

No rabble rousing needed, given the polls.

I'm no Kier Starmer fan, but you sound unhinged OP.

AngelicInnocent · 02/07/2025 07:00

The middle classes become the new wealthy to be taxed to death. They don't have the ability to leave the country and escape it.

I always think it's very telling when people parrot ridiculous nicknames for MPs. People who say 'Two Tier Kier' for example, sound as thick as mince.

I agree he has been a complete let down, but I would vote for the raving loony monster party before letting Reform get in.

Rather the economically illiterate, than the Tommy Robinson, protect our kids, St George's flag loving illiterate.

"Thick as mince". Great quote by Dominic Cummings who you presumably admire.

I see nothing wrong in a nickname. Are we supposed to respect this travesty of a PM? Two Tier Keir very neatly sums up his approach to many issues in this country, mainly due to.his warped ideology.

GingerBeverage · 02/07/2025 06:58

They’ll print more and more money until the pound is worth pennies.

Jennps · 02/07/2025 06:55

And it just gets worse. Not only are individually wealthy top rate taxpayers leaving. Businesses are leaving too.

Exxon pulled out of the UK yesterday because of Red Ed’s crazy obsession with killing our oil industry. We already have the highest energy costs in the world, it only gets worse. And not Astra Zeneca are reportedly looking to move from London stock exchange to New York.

This country is a disaster. Wonder if the ‘eat the rich’ crowd have any ideas on how their freebies will be paid for.

Labour voters do the nicknames about the Tories and Farage, so yes, very telling.
