Anyone else? I tuned in last night and couldn't believe how bad it was! 1975 was headlining and it was so middle or the road.

Maybe I'm getting old but the music was awful!!! So bland. Im early 40s 🤣

What are your thoughts?

He absolutely shouldn’t

But Lucy Connolly was or do you agree she shouldn't have been?

The problem is the police and the cps tbh, they need to make their minds up what constitutes a crime regarding comments and what doesn't. Maybe it depends on who the target is?

Don't you agree he should be charged for hate and invcting violence or are you sticking with he didn't mean it and it was just a publicity stunt?

He absolutely shouldn’t

I dont get this obsession with Israel other than jew hatred, the atrocities in Ukraine, Russia, Yemen, Syria, Pakistan, Sudan etc not a peak, no marches on Saturday, no marches for the treatment of women by the taliban. No one can convince me its just antisemitism wrapped up in a concern for the gazan people

I think so

Why didnt he say death to the Russian army?

Well it’s a good question. I’ve heard him being very vocal about support of Ukraine at gigs. But I suppose you can’t really spend your limited time on stage talking about all the things you care about and you pick one that causes you the most anger in the hope that it makes everyone more vocal about the things that make them angry too.

Well exactly. Wars are horrible, but there's probably never been a point in history where some war or other hasn't been happening.

Anyhoo…. I’ve never heard Olivia Rodrigo before but watching her now I think it was an excellent set

BBC are now saying that they SHOULD have pulled the live feed.

Only because they have to. If someone had chanted 'death to [named group or individual],' would the BBC have pulled the feed? I think they would. So why didn’t they this time?

I do feel they should have just ‘pulled the plug.’
Ive read all the arguments, but by not doing this it’s made everything worse for them. If Reform ever get into power it’ll probably be a distant memory or have to go ‘ pay per view’ only or something like that.

dh280125 · 30/06/2025 12:32

Quite enjoyed The Prodigy and Pulp but the high for me was Gary Numan. What a brilliant mix of new and old songs, showing he's still very much 'got it'.

Tangfastic71 · 30/06/2025 12:32

I’m quite pleasantly surprised at the Jeremy Vine debate. Some interesting points of view from both sides

BBC: ...the 'antisemitic sentiments expressed by Bob Vylan were utterly unacceptable and have no place on our airwaves...'

It has always been highly political. Don’t people feel embarrassed using the term woke as an insult?

The crowd is too big for me nowadays and it’s a bit TikToker friendly now but I have a tiny bit of FOMO. I am watching Brian Wilson from 2005 though as haven’t found anything else I like (watched a bit of Alanis and En Vogue last night).

No, they don't.
The word "woke" has gone through three stages in a very short time.
First, it was a compliment.
Then it was an insult.
Now it's a term of derision.

Where did I say it was a publicity stunt? I think it’s right to be investigated and that he should be charged if he’s found to have committed an offence. As I would with any crime. My opinion is that he didn’t but I’m not the law.

Appalonia · 30/06/2025 12:06

The Bob Vylan debacle is about to be discussed on Jeremy Vine R2 show now. Should be interesting...

On a happier note, I really enjoyed the Robert Smith pop-up.

It's worked for the Pound shop Zach de la Rocha in that 48 hours ago no one had heard of Bob violin but now the (*checks") Ipswich based agit prop rap punk warriors 🙄are Propa Famous

WaltzingWaters · 30/06/2025 11:46

Completely agree. Whilst I’ve never been, I usually love watching a fair bit of it on tv. This year I looked through and it was very slim pickings!

I’m not going to debate metaphor with you. He is a gentle person but I’m not going to be able to persuade you. I can see that what he said is highly emotive for you and others and I fully respect and understand your perspective. I just have a very different opinion and that’s ok too.

'I can see that what he said is highly emotive for you'

It isn't 'emotive', it is inciting hate and violence. I hope he gets dropped by his management and charged.
