Silly little conspiracies you believe in

Not serious ones like Diana was murdered etc, but silly little ones.

For example,

when it comes to wipes in a packet, I’m positive they rig it so more than one wipe comes out at a time. Then they make the sticky reseal not as sticky so they dry out quicker meaning you have to go and buy more instead of using what you’ve got

All inclusive luxury resorts deliberately put weight scales in the bathroom, so that you are more conscious about your weight and eat less. This is how it works for me at least lol.

Catherine, Princess of Wales only had one wedding dress. There was a lace overlay for the church ceremony with the train that was removed for the evening reception and she added a sparkly belt and fluffy cardigan. That’s why there’s no ‘second dress’ to exhibit.

Why would she lie about that though? You'd think they'd use it as some sort of "look how economical Kate is!" like when she wears the same coat more than once 😄

Darkling1 · 26/06/2025 21:13

Also, that the TV adverts are louder than the TV show because it’s know that people will leave the room during the adverts to make a cup of tea or get a snack etc. The louder the advert, the more chance people will hear it when leaving the room!

x2boys · 26/06/2025 21:11

Cash cards play hide and seek you tear the house apart trying to find it and when you admit defeat and cancel it it presents itself in a really obvious place you have already looked in ten times

Darkling1 · 26/06/2025 21:09

I love the eye glasses theory.

The conditioner always runs out first, so you end up buying the same conditioner again to match the shampoo.

I think they come in my house and steal my wipes. I always lose packets of wipes. I don't think I've ever finished a packet, I just lose it and buy another one.

I went to Specsavers today for an eye test. When I got home there was a letter waiting for me from Specsavers with a £10 eye test voucher. Swear the postman waited until I’d gone out..

I certainly believe in built in obsolescence. My resistance is to eke out the life of a product as long as I can, rather than replace it, even if it’s somewhat inconvenient.

As a child, I used to believe that things I didn’t like had been invented to spite me. Mint, fizzy drinks, balloons, and the stupid rule that you had to be blindfolded when playing pin the tail.

The fashion at the time was for strapless wedding dresses and I think Kate wanted one. But the RF insist on shoulders being covered* so she did it with lace for the main service. I think it showed prominent nipples snd so I hated it. It was not the same dress as the evening dress. I think the evening dress is the dress she would have liked to have had.

*Meghan's dresses, including her wedding dress, cover the last cm of shoulder and that's it, I suspect trying to just meet the 'shoulders covered' criteria, with, to me, a fabulously successful effect.

As an aside, people on here go mad, every time there is a royal wedding, speculating on what colours the bridesmaids will wear. Yet for wvery royal wedding, the bridesmaids ALWAYS wear he same colour as the bride.

This.

And coleslaw.

You can't keep it sealed and fresh.

Same with ready meals that used to be heated with a lid. Now just a thin film to save plastic.

Well I used to save the one's with the lids and re-use. There's no re-using now.

They call plastic "film", so that we don't feel bad about it going to landfill.

RosesAndHellebores · 26/06/2025 20:06

That big packets are more economical. You have loads so add an extra scoop of dishy or washing powder, extra squirt of washing up liquid. If you have little packets, you eke it out and make it last longer.

There’s science to why it rains on the school run. It’s the hottest part of the day and thus the time that clouds are most likely to be saturated - resulting in rainfall

My elderly male neighbour thinks that his battery keeps failing because the police are controlling his car! He’s written a couple of negative opinion pieces on the internet and is convinced they’re onto him. Advice to get his car electrics checked falls on deaf ears.

My husband thinks once you become a glasses wearer your eyesight rapidly declines...

My brother in law has got hearing aids (had them for a couple of years,) and I swear his hearing without them in - was much worse than it was before he ever had hearing aids. (Like, 2 months later!)

That there is a place where all the lost socks go.

Seriously I live alone. So where to all the fucking socks go ? I never have a pair. Always old socks. They just vanish.

Legend has it that odd socks turn into tupperware lids. 👀

(Tupperware lids that don't fit ANY of your tupperware tubs!)

Dark forces are behind every single shoe, sandal, trainer, boot etc. abandoned on the roads. They always make me feel uneasy whenever I spot them just . . . resting there.

When companies life Persil or Fairy release a new improved laundry powder, surface cleaner, etc they gradually make the previous 'best ever' products less effective so you have to try the next level up.

Definitely!!! This is 100% the case with dishwasher tablets!!!

PansyPotter84 · 26/06/2025 19:40

I KNOW that until I was 10 Santa was real.

My parents only started doling out the presents after that because there were too many greedy kids in the world and poor Santa had to retire.

He was 100% real when I was a kid.

No
doubt
about
it!

That the bus on the opposite side to which you need always comes first

And that it always rains on the afternoon school run

I’ve thought that it always rains on the afternoon school run for years now. It starts five minutes before and finishes once we’ve got home. It’s a small window where you absolutely have to leave the house and can’t wait for the rain to stop

That the council don’t really recycle the blue bins, it just sits in warehouses. I still put my recycling out, so I’m not a conspiracy nutter 😃

😂 😆 😆

Radio stations always play their adverts at the same time, when you are switching through stations looking for music every station is playing adverts.

Yes! Also TV channels.

Links to other sites are strategically placed so you will inadvertently click on them with your thumb when doom scrolling through an app and get a webpage open up. Gives me the absolute rage

There’s data that shows that on Twitter, it’s actually been deliberately set so the ad links open like this (ie. when you’re scrolling). So this is one that can actually be true!
