Silly little conspiracies you believe in

Not serious ones like Diana was murdered etc, but silly little ones.

For example,

when it comes to wipes in a packet, I’m positive they rig it so more than one wipe comes out at a time. Then they make the sticky reseal not as sticky so they dry out quicker meaning you have to go and buy more instead of using what you’ve got

😂😂😂

I don't know why, but that just tickled me

It's true, we found several small actors in between the cushions of our new sofa, they should be more careful.

You other brothers can't deny

Big biscuit and big tights are in cahoots.

You are so right! But I like the sound of 'big biscuit', there's a marketing opportunity in there somewhere.

You need a biscuit tin! I don't notice this because when I unpack the shopping the biscuits get opened and poured straight into the tin. Then you can just take one at a time :)

Re Leonardo the actor being gay or whatever, in my youth I had a bit of an argument over George Micheal not being gay!
I obviously lost (still miss his beautiful voice)
it was different times back then , nobody knew!

Because he’s worked very, very hard for decades to get his career to where it is, and I’m sure he’d like to keep it that way. Do you know of any openly gay (or bisexual) actors who are frequently cast as the lead in movies by top directors? Do you know of any openly gay actors who have been nominated for seven Oscars, mostly Best Actor, and received the award once? You don’t, because there aren’t any.

He’d probably never again be cast as a character who has any type of female love interest. Titanic would develop this weird sense of irony in people’s minds - “well, you should have let go, Rose! He was gay!” While Leo may be middle-aged now, there are two whole generations of women who remember swooning over him in their preteens, teens, and twenties.

It could be a concern on Lukas’s side, too. He’s not famous; his best-known role is probably still as the little Amish boy in the 1985 Harrison Ford movie Witness. (He and Leo are both former child stars.) But he works pretty steadily, and he might want to keep the range of roles he’s considered for open. Not to mention, people would probably mutter, “He just got that part because he’s sleeping with Leonardo DiCaprio.”

It’s odd and almost without precedent for a famous and renowned Hollywood actor to be as private about his personal life as Leo is, and for it to have such a lack of public milestones. No engagements, no wives, no children, no long-term high-profile relationship since he dated Gisele way back in the day. You ever notice how these models never really say anything about their relationships with Leo? Not even anything like, “He’s a great guy, but we were just too different”? There are probably NDAs in place.

Also, if people knew Leo had been in a long-term relationship with Lukas Haas for years and years, he’d look like a fraud, and these models would look like underhanded and shameless in their pursuit of their elevated public profiles.

I do think it’s a very long relationship, too. If you do an image search for Leo and Lukas together, you can see that they go just about everywhere together and have for years.

They make a cute couple.

The shape of a sunpat peanut butter jar. There's no way a knife can navigate the bend.

A knife however CAN cut open the plastic jar to retrieve the last bits of peanut butter

A time consuming but successful battle

If this is true
Why is this a problem in this day and age
I can understand back in the day this happening but not now.

Most electronic items have something built in that means they just stop working at some point so you have to replace them

Built-in obsolescence.

I remember writing an essay about it at school.

That the tv people are in cahoots with the battery people.

They vary the volume so you have to constantly use the remote control even when you are just watching the same channel all day.

Huh, mine is that the batteries in remote controls are just for show.

In 40 years on this planet I don't think I've ever needed to change a remote control battery.

That every important letter sent by local authorities, the NHS, lawyers etc. will be carefully timed to arrive on a Friday or Saturday so that you have to stew on it all weekend without being able to respond.

I think that this is actually true!

Notyomama · 27/06/2025 14:48

My cat definitely understands me. I talk to her all the time and she talks back. If she's annoyed she sits in a loaf position with her bum facing towards the offender and ignores them. It's so funny - normally she'll respond if you talk to her but when she's sulking she will just pretend you don't exist.

There are tons of not-secret 'conspiracies' in tech - loads of tricks companies use to stop customers from cancelling, to force them into agreeing to things they don't want etc. Look up 'Dark patterns'

One very simple trick (used in tech and elsewhere) is to give three prices, with the price the company wants you to pay in the middle. It tricks people into thinking they're making a choice when they're not.

If they sell the inflatables in a shop at the hotel and you discard the wrapper at the hotel the cleaners save the wrappers and then when you discard the inflatables they deflate it put it back in the wrapper and sell it again.

we avoided this scam by taking the inflatable crocodiles home in our suitcases 😂

They don’t even need the wrapper. Our inflatable shark disappeared from our balcony in Majorca as we were at breakfast on checkout day and the cleaners came in and then we saw it hanging up in the shop over the road exactly where we’d bought it a week ago 🤣 we had planned to give it to one of my son’s little pool mates before we left.

The sun is different now. As a child in the 80s, I didn't wear sunscreen, it was never a 'thing' - not justifying it, don't think it crossed my parents minds. But now, I have factor 50 on my face 365 days a year and on my body if its over 18 degrees and I still feel like I'm almost instantly burning. I'm not a sun worshipper anyway but I can't be out it it without fear of getting burnt.
Or is it that sunscreen is crap/lying? I use decent stuff that gets a good rating and I reapply 🤷‍♀️

It's you that different, not the sun. Your skin is different, you're older.

Mummy Pig and Daddy Pig having a third baby in Peppa Pig is covert government propaganda to boost the birthrate in the UK

Interesting! I wouldn't be surprised at all.

“We are having a higher call volume than normal. Please hold. Your call is important to us”

Yeah yeah yeah. You ALWAYS say there is a higher call volume

Or "our team know you are waiting (and will answer your call as soon as they can)". No they don't. And even if they did, they wouldn't care

Hotels in Spanish resorts get kick backs from lilo sellers to stop them having a 'help yourself to last week's lilos' sign and an area to leave all the plastic stuff you paid for but don't want to take home.

The single sock dilemma - have you checked down the back of the drum of your washing machine? Socks are small and they can get sucked past the rubber seals and into the works.

My conspiracy theory features Big Biro. Whenever you really really need a pen, all the working ones in the house have gone (wormholes in space) and you are left with the one that only gives you little stammers of ink. You can buy a new pack of biros, but the same thing will happen.
