To think Palestine Action isn't a terrorist group?

I don't agree with what they've done (breaking into military bases to vandalise planes), but I don't understand why they're being proscribed. Extinction Rebellion and Just Stop Oil have caused far more damage to property and general annoyance.

Arrest and prosecute the people who commit criminal acts, absolutely, but this is setting the bar for branding protestors "terrorists" far too low.

Attacking military equipment when we're virtually on a war footing is treason. Those jets are for refuelling other jets in the air. The RAF will need them in the middle east if the current situation escalates. There are British soldiers stationed in Qatar who should not.be.put at risk because some smug self satisfied activists.crave attention.

Which people do you think we are becoming complicit in bombing? And how are we doing so?

That airbase is used to supply Akrateri in Cyprus which is involved in spying missions over Gaza to target individuals. The damage was designed to stop that supply. We’re complicit in the genocide in Gaza. Palestinian Action are trying to prevent a more serious crime by damaging the weapon.

It's bizarre how some people seem to be of the impression that this soon-to-be terrorist group heroically grounded some bombers that were off to bomb Gaza when actually they grounded some cargo planes that weren't going to bomb anyone, and the UK isn't bombing Gaza.

Where are they getting this idea from?

I have no idea, but it's actually several posters who seem to think this.

Good.

‘Palestine Action called the government's action "unhinged".’ Similar no. of brain cells to the just stop oil contingent. You couldn’t make it up.

One doesn’t sabotage military jets and expect a thank you card in the post.

It comes after what she called a "disgraceful attack" on an RAF base and as a protest took place in central London.

So they interfere with planes, that then have issues and crash. Maybe they land on a school or a housing estate. The pilot ejects safely but 20 people on the ground are killed.

That sounds like terrorism to me.

Demonstrating outside an airbase - eg Greenham peace women - is protesting, and was effective in the end. Mucking around with a few million £s worth of military jet is terrorism.

JeremiahBullfrog · 23/06/2025 18:21

The RAF doesn't have cargo planes so they can deliver sweeties to little children. The purpose of these planes is to support military objectives, which frequently include killing people: I'm not sure whether these planes themselves are armed or carrying bombs is really that important.

We are getting more and more complicit in bombing people.

I would think that those in the position to make the decision have more information than we do.

And that's how people sleep walk into fascism.

How so?

ZanyLou · 23/06/2025 18:12

Thanks for clarifying. Then it was an expensive bit of criminal damage.

Well no, it was an attack on the UK military's ability to keep the country safe at a time of increased global tensions.

And guess who will be footing the bill for it?

Ddakji · 23/06/2025 18:14

ZanyLou · 23/06/2025 18:12

I’m not sure why you are downplaying an attack on our military defences. You seem to think this is comparable with, I don’t know, graffiting a building society. Or lobbing a brick through a chemist’s window.

They are refuelling plains basically flying petrol stations not bombers or fighter jets and more to the point WE ARE NOT BOMBING ANYONE

We are getting more and more complicit in bombing people.

ZanyLou · 23/06/2025 18:12

noblegiraffe · 23/06/2025 18:07

You are mistaken, they were not bombers. They were cargo planes.

ZanyLou · 23/06/2025 17:58

It’s property and money, not human lives, which the jets if launched would have destroyed .

ZanyLou · 23/06/2025 18:04

I think we should be very careful how we use them.

Of course. How do you think they’re going to be used?

Do you think this group were careful in what they did to our defences?

noblegiraffe · 23/06/2025 18:07

Breaking into a military base and vandalising military equipment is a step far beyond gluing yourself to the road.

It's like assaulting a police officer, it has to be taken more seriously.

Yep I ageee with this. I strongly support their right to protest and would support them basically anywhere that isn’t risking national security at a fucking military base when we’re on the bring of world war 3 in the world!!

they could easily have done something really impactful not at a military base it’s just plain thick or yea… act of national sabotage that deserves to be prohibited more seriously

ZanyLou · 23/06/2025 18:05

noblegiraffe · 23/06/2025 18:02

amylou8 · 23/06/2025 18:04

They crossed the line with the planes I'm afraid. I'm not for banning stuff, but millions of pounds of military equipment is terrorism.

If they are now a proscribed terrorist group is it even legal to defend/support them?

Edited

They are not yet a proscribed terrorist organisation the government is still in the process of doing so and it should be done by next week according to Yevett Cooper.
However when they are yes it will be a crime to be a member or support or defend them
