I think this is a bit of a show or face saving from Iran.
How many missiles did they fling at Israel last weekend? Multiple waves of 60 at a time ( happy to be corrected) so 300 a night?
And tonight only 6 at the ‘American devils’?
Against an air base with the very latest air defenses? Smells of gesturing.
Hopefully that’s it for tonight, and the Americans don’t retaliate, or if they do, it’s just against military infrastructure.
Would be better for Iran, and the world, if Iran reins it in and doesn’t persist in irritating the region.
No doubt the Israelis have moles in the Iranian military.

When the orange buffoon talks about America first he actually means Trump first. I say this as an American.

Oh its The Trump show for sure

Bombing this sites is in line with US policy that Iran can not be allowed to have a nuclear weapon. He gave Iran the chance to negotiate and they dragged the talks until things eslxates with Israel. Even after the attacks started he still left the door open for talks which the UK and EU leaders tried to meditate over the past few days which didn't go anywhere so the decision was take advantage of the current situation where the Iranian regime is on the back foot and weak and strike a decisive blow to their nuclear ambitions once and for all or stay out and we deals with this in another year or two.

Israel has show it can defeat Iran with all their bluster but only the US has the capability to destroy the nuclear sites which are built deep underground with the use of the buster bomb, and only the US has a plane which can deliver the bomb, the B2 bomber.

So yes you can argue that seriously damaging Iran's nuclear ambition is actually America first. He made it very clear when he opened the doors to negotiate with Iran that they will NOT be allowed to have a nuclear weapon. Who knows maybe the bloody regime will fall and Iranians can rebuild their country.

Iran's allies the terrorists groups that they sponsor are all weakend, Hezbollah, Hamas and Houthis so they are very weak right now, they will bluster and shout and maybe attack a US base in Iraq or something just to save face then stfu.

Retaliate? This was Iran retaliating
Trump now needs to put a line under it and say enough now

Trump will not look like a fool at all !
NO country wants Trump to react negatively to this

Yep and that might be what a sane president would do. But he is not a sane president and he us terrified of looking weak. These are US airbases after all

PoopingAllTheWay · 23/06/2025 19:16

Catsandcheese · 23/06/2025 18:55

Qatar has said they reserve the right to respond, so who knows.
I imagine Trump will look like a fool if he doesn’t retaliate now.

Hopefully, cool Iranian heads will prevail and not escalate this further.
I agree with @Buffs that the risk of them making a nuclear weapon longer term is now higher.

Buffs · 23/06/2025 19:09

The orange buffoon was played by Netanyahu. I imagine the Iranians will now be thinking this wouldn’t have happened if they’d had a nuclear weapon which I imagine they will soon acquire from their Russian friends.

@rainingsnoring

we see you and your agenda clearly btw

Well done you! I can see your agenda and that of your friends clearly too. Playground bullying tactics to anyone who doesn't appear to agree fully with you and won't be goaded by you. Note, I haven't even stated what I think on this unrelated topic, just mentioned a couple of highly respected scholars. That's all it took for you playground bullies to wade in all together.
It's shocking that so many adults seem to want to control what others are allowed to think and say. Reminds me of some regimes that many, including you, are criticising.

Let's stick to the topic. The others seem to have managed it!

It's bonkers, isn't it? Millions of pounds worth of missiles and interceptors being traded, advance warning given, it's a weirdly scripted "dance" being described as de-escalatory, like a military version of controlled tantrums.

Obviously minimal or no casualties is a good thing, but honestly in my mind it all defies logic....

What is the end game? And how well controlled can it be?

Baffled. Completely baffled.

The Telegraph used phrase exit strategy.

They did three for three apparently

PoopingAllTheWay · 23/06/2025 18:58

I hope this was done in the know that there would be no casualties cause Iran knew Qatar would shoot the missiles down. So it shows Iran is not weak because they have retaliated but they havent killed anyone

I'm in Bahrain now, we've just had the all clear. Nothing has been hit here as yet

Good to hear x

I'm not a praying person, but I hope it stays that way for you. Take care x

The Telegraph has this Iran ‘gave advance warning ahead of strikes’Iran gave advance notice of its plans to launch a missile attack against US bases in the Middle East, the New York Times is reporting.

Three Iranian officials said they had coordinated its strikes with Qatari officials in a bid to minimise casualties.

Ah that's very interesting, thankyou.

I'd not bet on this but It's just possible this will.be a case of " honours even" and it doesn't escalate.

Can't see Iran being too keen to continue to hit targets in the neighbouring Gulf States, even if aimed at US bases and even if intercepted the collateral damage from the.missiles will hackthe neighbours off.

It was also interesting that the US State Department and the UK FCO issued a warning to nationals quite some time ahead of the strike(s). Did the info come from the Israels, ...or someone else?

Edited

Fully agree.

I can see the missiles are being intercepted - apologies for using the term bombing! I don’t think missiling is a verb yet.

MistressoftheDarkSide · 23/06/2025 18:26

As to the most recent attacks by Iran, I have no words, other than FFS.
